NDC MPs Ready to Return to Parliament Amidst Political Standoff

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament are prepared to return to Parliament if Speaker Alban Bagbin issues a recall for parliamentary proceedings, according to Bawku Central MP, Mahama Ayariga. Apexnewsgh reports This assurance comes after the indefinite adjournment of Parliament on Tuesday, October 22, following a contentious session between the NDC and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) over which party holds the majority in the House. Ayariga emphasized the NDC’s readiness to respond immediately to the Speaker’s call, highlighting their commitment to fulfilling legislative responsibilities despite ongoing political tensions. The willingness of NDC MPs to return reflects their dedication to ensuring Ghana’s governance process continuity. They will promptly resume duties when directed by the Speaker, demonstrating their commitment to serving the nation. The adjournment followed sharp disagreements between the NDC and NPP over majority side occupancy. Ayariga noted the NPP’s significant underrepresentation, with fewer than 30 members present, accusing them of lacking preparedness and not taking parliamentary business seriously. He criticized NPP MPs’ disruption of proceedings as part of Alexander Afenyo-Markin’s plan to maintain position and influence. Despite the standoff, Ayariga reaffirmed NDC MPs’ preparedness to return when the Speaker recalls them. This Election is going to be one of the most difficult elections for us–Ayariga sounds alarm

Hon. Mahama Ayariga, Member of Parliament for Bawku Central Constituency, has issued a stern warning to National Democratic Congress (NDC) party members in the north region: don’t underestimate the 2024 election. Apexnewsgh reports  According to Ayariga, the candidacy of Bawumia, a northerner, will make this election significantly tougher than the last 2020 election. Ayariga emphasized that the previous election was against Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who isn’t from the north. However, with Bawumia in the running, the dynamics have changed. “We need to use double the force we used against Akufo-Addo to win against Bawumia,” Ayariga stressed, highlighting the increased challenge . As a seasoned politician and lawyer, Ayariga knows what he’s talking about. With a Master of Law degree from Harvard Law School and experience as Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, he’s well-versed in Ghanaian politics . Ayariga’s warning serves as a rallying cry for NDC party members to buckle up and prepare for a fierce electoral battle. With the 2024 election looming, his message is clear: this won’t be an easy win, so don’t take it for granted. Source: Apexnewsgh.com

NPP Director Condemns Ayariga’s Unsubstantiated Allegations Against Mathew Silas Amoah

Ateera Ayimbila Abubakar, Bolgatanga East Party Communication Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed strong displeasure over comments made by Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Hon. Mahama Ayariga, without providing proof or evidence. Apexnewsgh reports Hon. Ayariga’s allegations against successful businessman Mathew Silas Amoah, who is vying for a position, were deemed unsubstantiated and embarrassing. Ayimbila challenged Hon. Ayariga to verify his claims at the registrar general’s office, emphasizing the importance of proof and evidence in law. Ayimbila attributed the attacks on Amoah to the “Mathew Effect,” which he believes is gaining momentum and causing concern among opponents. He described Amoah as a regional project, prompting interest from other constituencies. “It very clear, that this young man (Mathew Silas Amoah) is a regional project, because if he is not a regional project, why will some people come from their constituency to make such comment”. Mr. Ayimbila criticized Hon. Ayariga for focusing on baseless allegations rather than addressing the pressing issue of restoring peace in his constituency, Bawku. “Mahama Ayariga should be interested in restoring peace in his constituency Bawku because he is a big stakeholder. But unfortunately, he is interested in Bringing peace in Bawku and he is rather accusing someone of using stolen money to campaign”. He stressed According to him, “Hon. Dominic Ayine is living in an AC room but yet he is sweating,” implying that Ayariga’s actions are driven by desperation. The Bolga East NPP Communication Director, further criticized Hon. Mahama Ayariga, questioning his contribution to his constituency and the region. Ayimbila highlighted Ayariga’s tenure as Minister for Sports, during which he failed to provide even a single Astroturf to the region. He emphasized that Ayariga’s inability to deliver on such a basic project raises concerns about his effectiveness as a representative. Ayimbila’s comments suggest that Ayariga’s focus on unsubstantiated allegations against Mathew Silas Amoah is a distraction from his own shortcomings as a public servant. By questioning Ayariga’s contribution to the region, Ayimbila aims to shift attention to Ayariga’s own record and prompt scrutiny of his performance. Will Mathew Silas Amoah Take Legal Action? When asked if Mathew Silas Amoah would take legal action against those making unsubstantiated allegations against him, the Communication Director, responded that his candidate is focused on his goals of becoming the next Bolga East MP and will not waste time and energy on name-calling and baseless accusations. Ayimbila’s statement suggests that Mr. Amoah is choosing to rise above the fray and concentrate on his objectives, rather than engaging with detractors. However, it remains to be seen whether Amoah will take legal action in the future to clear his name and address the allegations made against him. For now, it appears that he is prioritizing his focus and energy on more productive pursuits. Bawku Conflict: Ayariga Alleges National Security Minister Profits from GH¢18m Quarterly Funding

In a shocking revelation, Mahama Ayariga, Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, has alleged that the National Security Minister receives a staggering GH¢18 million every quarter to address the ongoing conflict in Bawku. Apexnewsgh reports This funding, intended to support security operations and initiatives, has raised concerns about transparency and accountability. Ayariga, speaking on Woezor TV on August 4, described the situation as unacceptable, accusing the Akufo-Addo government and the National Security Ministry of profiting from the suffering of the people of Bawku. He emphasized the need for a comprehensive audit to ensure effective use of funds. The Bawku conflict, a longstanding issue rooted in ethnic and chieftaincy disputes, has led to numerous casualties and instability. Despite substantial financial resources allocated, the situation remains volatile, casting doubt on the effectiveness of measures implemented. Ayariga’s allegations suggest that the National Security Minister receives GH¢6 million monthly, while the people of Bawku continue to endure poverty and hardship. He believes the conflict was largely created by the promises of the NPP and calls for greater transparency and accountability in the management of resources. The situation has sparked concerns about the government’s handling of the conflict and the use of funds intended to restore peace and stability in Bawku. Export and Import Regulations 2023, offends clear provisions of the IMF Bailout Agreement–Mahama Ayariga

Mahama Ayariga, the Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, has criticized the Proposed Restrictions on Importation of Selected Strategic Products as it contradicts Ghana’s commitments under the IMF Bailout Agreement. According to Ayariga, the Export and Import Regulations, 2023, violate the provisions stated in the international agreement and show a disregard for the stipulations outlined in the IMF Country Report No. 23/168 issued in May 2023. Ayariga also questioned the level of communication between the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, suggesting a lack of coordination within the government. He further claimed that the NPP Government is confused about the country’s economic direction and financial management, and unable to uphold its commitments to the IMF. Mahama Ayariga demands update from CHRAJ over the killing of 10 people by military

Mahama Ayariga, the Bawku Central constituency Member of Parliament, has handed a letter to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ). The Bawku Central Legislature is requesting an update on the alleged killing of 10 citizens in the area by the military. Early this year, a petition was made to CHRAJ. However, in what looks like a follow up letter to the earlier one, the Bawku MP expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of progress as he further demands for accountability. He admonished CHRAJ to visit the community to speak to victims to gather evidence beyond whatever the Ghana Armed Forces will say in their response, but this has not happened. Read his petition below: Read Mahama Ayariga’s follow-up letter below: 6th November 2023 The Commissioner Commission on Human Rights & Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) Accra – Ghana Dear Commissioner, FOLLOW UP ON COMPLAINT OF MAHAMA AYARIGA AGAINST GHANA ARMED FORCES ON THE MATTER OF KILLINGS IN BAWKU I write to follow up on the complaint I made to your office demanding in investigation of killings and human rights violations by members of the Ghana Armed forces in the community of Zoogin in Bawku Municipality. I have seen copies of letters you wrote to the military to respond to my complaints. Since then I have not heard anything in relation to the matter. I will not accept any attempt by the military to avoid accountability for the killings of innocent people in Bawku. I, therefore, demand that you give the military a deadline to respond to your inquiries. I also expect that CHRAJ would have visited the community to speak to victims to gather evidence beyond whatever the Ghana Armed Forces will say in their response but this has not happened. Please rest assured that the people of the Zoogin community will continue to demand justice for those who were unjustly killed by members of the Ghana Armed Forces in their community. Thank you. UER: NPP Regional Youth Organizer descends on NDC MPs, questioned their….

The Upper East Youth Organizer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Salahu-Deen Musah Al-Khomeini has descended on some MPs representing the region in parliament under the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Apexnewsgh.com report The Regional Youth Organizer questioned the MP’s contribution in terms of developmental projects in their constituencies since allowed to serve their people. He made the demand during an engagement on Apexnews Ghana’s flagship development programme dubbed “SPEAKOUT UPPER EAST REGION” with Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen on Monday, October 17, 2022.Mr. Musah Al-Khomeini is of the view that, if one wants to place blame, on those who have led the developmental challenges in the region, it must be put at the doorstep of the NDC MPs from the region. “Look at Dr. Nawaane, today is his second time and he cannot boost off a single project in the Nabdam District. The same with BT Baba in Talensi. Come to Isaac Adongo, apart from buying mobile phones and sharing to delegates to vote for him, he cannot boost off a single project in the Bolgatanga central”. He stressed Explaining further, he said; “Go to Tempane where Lambon is coming from, Tempane MP Lydia as we speak came to Tempane with 5 tailoring machines, shared to women went to a radio sat down, and said that she has brought a lot of tailoring machine and share to the women of Tempane. Look at Mahama Aayriga MP for Bawku Central, he cannot boost for a single project he has started and completed and commissioned in Bawku central, these are proven facts. Look at Sampson in Navrongo, what did he do? He came with a street light and that become a celebration that the MP is doing well. Look at what Abanga is doing in Binduri, Abanga bought a borehole drilling machine and the machine is in the constituency drilling boreholes from one community to another, and even houses that request for boreholes, they drill for them. This is an MP that is working trying to change the lives of the people of Binduri. When you go to Builsa North, the only thing Agalga can boost off in Builsa North is sending five people to the Police Service and all of a sudden people are saying Agalga has sent….beyond that nothing more. You cannot point to any developmental project that has been done by them”. “Today as we speak, we are constructing the Weaga road. If am going to mention the NDC MPs in the Upper East Region and how they have been maltreated and how they have mishandled and how they did not take their constituents serious is very amazing”. He said However, Mr. Al-Khomeini believes that when it comes to the predicament bedeviling the people of the Upper East Region, the NDC in general enjoyed a lot of political fortune in the Upper East Region and you would agree with me that when it comes to political representation in the parliament of this country, the NDC enjoyed a lot of success from the people of the Upper East Region. Currently, as we speak, we have 1 MP for the NPP and 14 for the NDC. He pointed Source: Apexnewsgh.com/Ghana For publication please kindly contact us on 0256336062 or Email: apexnewsgh@gmail.com

Street lighting in Bawku: Madam Gabiana must take the credit not Mahama Ayariga– Kariyama

A member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Regional Communication Team Osman Kariyama has said, when it comes to providing community street lighting in the Bawku Municipality Madam Gabiana the 2020 NPP Parliamentary must take the credit and not Mahama Ayariga. Mr. Kariyama made the point on Monday, October 10, 2022, on Apexnews Ghana’s flagship Programme dubbed: SPEAK OUT UPPER EAST” when the NDC representative Ibrahim Anaribazanga made a claim that the Bawku legislature Hon. Mahama Ayariga has provided streetlights across the Bawku Municipality. Meanwhile, responding to the NDC claim, Mr. Kariyama said: “When you look at Bawku, is divided into 3 zones, just like Upper East is divided into 3 zones. We have the Bawku Zone, we have the BONABOTO zone, and the Western zone. Like Bawku is divided into 3 zones, we have the Central zone, we have the Kusasi zone and we have the Bissa belt”. “At the Bissa belt, all the street lights there were put by Madam Gabiana. All the community lights in the Bissa belt were put by Madam Gabiana”. he stressed And when you come to the Central zone, because they already have their street lights. So, for most of the street lights that went off, Madam Gabiana had to replace them. She replaced all the dead street lights and then, in the Kusasi zone whereby some of their light went off, we have Area Coordinators who came and she gave it to them and they went and replaced it. Where there is no street light, they replaced and where there is a street light they don’t replace it. And we did the distribution, we did all the work”. He explained “So, if they say Mahama Ayariga has put street lights, probably he has gone somewhere or maybe some have gone dead and he went and put. But for that one, we were not aware of it because we know what we did during the 2020 election”.
