I want to present a more open, inclusive, and rapid development agenda for Nabdam—Lawyer Apanga Lamtiig

A Legal Practitioner Lawyer Lamtiig Apanga has hinted, he wants to present a more open, inclusive, and rapid development agenda for Nabdam. Apexnewsgh.com report The astute Lawyer disclosed that during his engagement with Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen on Apexnews Ghana’s development flagship program programme dubbed: ‘SPEAKOUT UPPER EAST’ on Wednesday, December 7, 2022.“I want to present to my people a more open, inclusive, and rapid development agenda for Nabdam”. He disclosed He further added: “The way our development is slow, we need to push it up a bit faster than other places. We cannot continue to move slowly as we are moving, if not it will take us a very long time to develop and catch up with our colleagues. So, I want to offer the leadership that will push development rapidly, that will push development to a point where there will be more inclusion of other people”. “If you watched carefully, it appears that our development has been around political heads and they carry the burden on their shoulder all alone without bringing other people on board and we do have strong Nabdam men and ladies who are very resourceful in terms of finances and ideas, if we are able to tap into them, we can bring in resources not necessarily money but even their international connections, connection to some other NGOs and people who can bring development to our place. I salute my friend the MP for North Tong my good friend Hon. Ablakwa for all the wonderful work he is doing for his people. If you observed, the rapid rate at which he is working, it is that kind of work that I want to bring to Nabdam where is not dependent on just one person but the inclusion of almost everyone”. However, responding to the host of SPEAKOUT UPPER EAST, Lawyer Lamtiig rated Nabdam development 3 out of 10 by using road, infrastructure, education, etc as a benchmark. Nabdam MP demand for District Police Station

Member of Parliament for the Nabdam Constituency in the Upper East Region Dr. Mark Kurt-Nawaane has made a strong case for the people of Nabdam to be provided with a district police station. For his love for security in his constituency, Dr. Nawaane in 2021 completed a modern police station in Pelingu as part of measures to beef up security in the area. Meanwhile, making his strong case on the floor of Parliament on behalf of the people of Nabdam, Dr. Nawaane said: “I build the police station with my Common Fund in Pelingu. Yes, a modern Police station with my Common Fund and with the understanding that if we are able to build this police station, we will attain the district status as soon as is practicable because we are not getting the staff. We were usually allocating the staff from Bolgatanga”. He added: “Now, I have done all that and I even walled it for them. I want to know, from your answer it still appears not clear, I want to know, can I get a timeline for this police station, for the district status? He asked. Nabdam: The sad story of a 9-year old disabled girl who crawls over 2km to school daily

Unlike some disabled children who would give up education and rather sit by road sides to beg for alms, nine-year-old Agnes Mba from Dasabligo in the Upper East Region believes she can be a great person in future through education despite her condition. Agnes crawls on her knees to school over 2 kilometers daily through a rough road and back. Agnes Mba is a class one pupil at Dasabligo Primary School in the Nabdam District. She is unable to stand on her feet nor walk. She lost the effective use of his lower limbs at the age of 3 months. Because of her condition, she did not enroll in school early. Agnes therefore crawls on her knees to school on daily basis. She would sometimes have to support herself with both hands to crawl to school and back home. She crawls for a minimum of 2km daily in pursuit of education. Whenever it rains or there is hot sunshine, it becomes a double tragedy for Agnes. Her mother would have to carry her on her back to school. Agnes’ father Abanberinga Mba explained that “When she was growing up, she had difficulty in looking straight at an object. Her neck was still not strong. After some years, there was improvement on her neck and eyes but she could not walk. We tried local treatments to no avail. We visited the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital but we were referred to a bones specialist at Bawku. But we couldn’t go because we knew we cannot even pay for any service. So that’s how come she is in this condition.” Agnes, despite her condition still helps her mother in her house chores. She believes that looking unhappy would not change her situation and for that matter is always seen smiling while studying her books. Even in school she plays with her colleagues and would always set off to go home when there is no hope of a bicycle to carry her home. AGNES MBA Madam Christiana Azuyema is the class one teacher of the School and she tells us how active and participatory Agnes is in class. “Agnes is good in class. She is always happy whenever her colleagues are writing something on the board. She always wants to also do so. She always plays with her colleagues in class. Her problem is how to come to school. So we would be happy if any assistance is given to her,” Madam Christiana Azuyema pleaded. According to the family, the Nabdam District Assembly supported them with a tricycle a year ago but it is nonfunctional at the moment. For now, Agnes would have to continue to crawl to school until any assistance comes her way. Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Untreated poor widow battles cancer for her life (viewers discretion is advised)

As the world celebrates Breast Cancer Awareness in the Month of October, a 52 year old poor widow, Malebna Abanab continues to battle for her life from cancer of the breast infection. Mmalebna is a hardworking woman from Kongo in the Nabdam District of the Upper East Region. She detected an abnormal feeling, lumps and thickening and sudden change in size of her right breast in March 2019. According to her, she had no pesewa so she did not bother seeing the doctor. When she could not bear it any longer, some family members took her to the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital where they were asked to get themselves prepared to be transferred to Tamale Teaching Hospital for treatment. Since then, they could not go back to the hospital since they did not have some money to travel to Tamale. “We were asked to get GHc500.00 ready so that we could take her to Tamale. The little money we also had we used it to pay for tests and other medications. So we didn’t have money again.” Her sister in-law narrated. Malebna looked pal, dehydrated and weak as at the time I visited her. She could not explain the pain she is going through in this condition without crying. Part of the breast has been chopped off, with some discharge dropping from the leftover breast. The family resorted to local medicine to keep away the flies. When I recently spoke to them on the condition of Malebna, they told me they contacted a herbalist who came to perform some rituals but there isn’t any improvement. A relative of Malebna, Sapambil Joel said “it happened around May in 2019 and it has been terrible for her. The whole compound always smelling, because flies were always on it. They are talking about taking her to hospital at Tamale and we don’t think we can afford the bills when we go there. That’s why she is still at home. So we would be grateful if anybody can help us to save her life.” Any individual, group of persons, or organizations that want to extend some assistance to save poor Malebna’s life can contact us on 0245768733.
