National Cathedral: Ablakwa intensifies National Cathedral exposee, U.S registration is fraudulent

The Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has intensified his exposee on the ongoing National Cathedral project. In his recent mind-blowing revelation, he revealed that the name used to register the Cathedral differs from both the Ghana and U.S. registration. In the United States of America, the National Cathedral was registered as ‘National Cathedral of Ghana and Bible Museum Foundation, Inc” whiles in Ghana, it was registered as the “National Cathedral of Ghana” Meanwhile, expressing dissatisfaction on his Facebook wall, Mr. Ablakwa lamented that: “Even more shocking, we have discovered that the address provided on both the “National” Cathedral of Ghana website and to US authorities as the official address of the National Cathedral of Ghana and Bible Museum Foundation, Inc. is absolutely fraudulent. The advertised address is: the National Cathedral of Ghana and Bible Museum Foundation, Inc. 1090 Vermont AVE NW, Washington, DC 20005”. Read Ablakwa’s full post: Before proceeding to provide details on the latest “National” Cathedral exposé, kindly permit me to salute Comrade Dr. Anthony Yaw Baah, General Secretary of the TUC for his remarkably courageous, frank and patriotic remarks on President Akufo-Addo’s scandalous Cathedral project in the presence of the President at yesterday’s Labour Day commemoration. Comrade, you have inspired millions! President Akufo-Addo’s “National” Cathedral project remains the most sleazy, reckless, sacrilegious and scandalous mission by sheer magnitude and audacity in the entire history of Ghana. In this latest installment of “National” Cathedral transgressions, my international partners and I shall be focusing attention on findings from our investigations into the Akufo-Addo government’s cathedral operations in the United States of America. It is important to bear in mind that the US has been a major target for fundraising by “National” Cathedral and Government of Ghana functionaries including President Akufo-Addo. Today’s publication is only the first in the series of troubling discoveries we have made in the United States. Articles of Incorporation we have secured from the District of Columbia Government’s Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (corporation’s division) confirm that a nonprofit corporation has been registered known as the “National Cathedral of Ghana and Bible Museum Foundation, Inc.” (Articles of Incorporation duly attached). This National Cathedral of Ghana and Bible Museum Foundation, Inc. received its Certificate of Incorporation with its effective date being May 3, 2021 and signed by Josef G. Gasimov, Superintendent of Corporations, Corporations Division. (See certificate attached). It is worthy of note that the name National Cathedral of Ghana and Museum Foundation, Inc. is unmistakably different from what was incorporated in Ghana some two years prior, specifically on the 18th of July, 2019 as the National Cathedral of Ghana. Curiously, we have also discovered that none of the prominent Ministers of the Gospel who serve as Trustees of the National Cathedral of Ghana feature in the articles of incorporation and list of governors as submitted to US authorities. The names of governors and authorized persons as contained in the Two-Year Report for Domestic & Foreign Filing Entity are: Dr. Paul Opoku-Mensah, Eric Okyere Darko and Dr. Vernon Darko. (See Report attached). In US corporate terms “governor” typically refers to a member of the board of directors. We know Dr. Paul Opoku-Mensah as the Executive Director of the “National” Cathedral Secretariat, however, it is unclear why government preferred Mr. Eric Okyere Darko and Dr. Vernon Darko over and above the prominent clergy serving on the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral of Ghana. The Akufo-Addo government’s decision to leave out the clergy in its US operations is particularly strange considering the fact that a considerable number of these ministers have towering presence in the United States. For instance, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams has long incorporated multiple branches of his Action Chapel International in US cities such as Baltimore, Dallas, New York, Tulsa, Silver Spring in Maryland and the state of Pennsylvania. Indeed his 2007 established US headquarters is the Virginia Chapel where Bishop Dr. Kibby Otoo who is married to the Archbishop’s daughter Lady Elsie serves as the Presiding Bishop for the Americas and Caribbean. Archbishop Duncan-Williams has also been an almost permanent fixture of the prestigious US National Prayer Breakfast. Bishop Dag Heward-Mills is similarly celebrated for his numerous Qodesh Family Church branches in several states in the United States. So is Rev. Eastwood Anaba’s ministry and not to mention the other internationally famous denominations such as Pentecost, Catholic, Presbyterian and Methodist who all have or once had leading priests on the Board of Trustees in Ghana. This specific finding of the neglect of the Ghanaian clergy in favour of cronies of the regime gives credence to concerns expressed by Bishop Dag Heward-Mills in his famous resignation letter that it was obvious some outsiders were the real trustees and that inputs from people like him did not matter. Remember that there’s no residency requirement to be registered as a governor or director in Washington DC. Further checks conducted indicate that Mr. Eric Okyere Darko was appointed to the Board of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF) by President Akufo-Addo and sworn in by Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta on October 12, 2021 — a few months after he was listed as one of three governors of the National Cathedral of Ghana and Bible Museum Foundation, Inc. Mr. Eric Okyere Darko was also one of Hon. Kennedy Agyapong’s lawyers in the recent case against Anas. Dr. Vernon Darko on the other hand is said to be the founder and CEO of EQUIPXP® (EXP) and a small business exporter. It is not clear what his usefulness will be to a National Cathedral project. Even more shocking, we have discovered that the address provided on both the “National” Cathedral of Ghana website and to US authorities as the official address of the National Cathedral of Ghana and Bible Museum Foundation, Inc. is absolutely fraudulent. They advertised address is: National Cathedral of Ghana and Bible Museum Foundation, Inc. 1090 Vermont AVE NW, Washington, DC 20005. A personal visit to this address in Washington, DC and thorough

Eastwood Anaba, Duncan Williams, demands the suspension of National Cathedral project

Two well-respected members of the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral project, Archbishop Duncan Williams and Reverend Eastwood Anaba, have unanimously requested the suspension of the most controversial project.  A statement sighted by this Apexnewsgh.com says, in the spirit and cause of transparency and accountability to the Ghanaian people, the current Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral shall appoint an independent, nationally recognized accounting firm to audit all public funds contributed to and spent by the National Cathedral.  The statement further pointed that, “Auditors will also audit the overall cost of the project. This appointment of an auditor shall take place before the deferment of activities of the Board of Trustees,”  “That current activity advancing the construction of Ghana’s National Cathedral shall be deferred until the atmospherics in Ghana are improved and the audit of the Cathedral account is done,”  Over a period, the National Cathedral has been one of the controversial issues in the media space as a result of some mind-blowing revelations made by the North Tongu Law maker Samuel Ablakwa over alleged multiple identities with a different dates of birth.  However, the issue has been officially reported to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to investigate the matter.  President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on March 16 appointed a 13-Member Board of Trustees to spearhead Ghana’s National Cathedral.  At their inauguration at the Jubilee House, the President said the 13-member Board of Trustees will be in charge of the National Cathedral when it is completed. The members are:  Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah, former Chairman of the Church of Pentecost – Chairperson  Archbishop Charles Gabriel Palmer-Buckle, Metropolitan Catholic Archbishop, Cape Coast – Vice Chairman  Most Rev. Bishop Dag Heward –Mills resigns again as National Cathedral Board Trustee member

Founder and leader of the Lighthouse Chapel International, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills has resigned as member of the Board of Trustee at Cathedral project. His reason for resignation was made known, according to him, even though outside the trustee he is known as a member, he feels he is neglected on some of the concerns he has raised.“I feel that the treatment of the issues I have raised in my several letters has been unfortunate. My letters have been ignored in the past; not attended to for years, and at best addressed flippantly.” “You may recall I have spoken passionately and written extensively about the costs, the design, the location, the fundraising, the mobilization of the churches, and the role of the trustees. These, if heeded, would have made our project more achievable. Generally speaking, my inputs, my opinions, and my letters have been trivialized and set aside.” With regards to the directors of the board, he said he was surprised he was not registered as Director of the Company of the National Cathedral of Ghana despite the fact that President had “verbally appointed him as such. Bishop Dag Heward-Mills also said he was shocked some unknown individuals were the real Trustees of the Board despite the fact that he was the director for 6 years without being registered. “I do not believe this is an oversight but a deliberate exclusion from the Board. Six years is a long time to correct this failure to register me if it was indeed an administrative lapse.” “l have therefore accepted for some time now that I am not a trustee of the National Cathedral, but I have still sought to help with the Cathedral because I believe in the President’s vision and I do not have to be a legally registered trustee to do so. I refer to myself in this letter as a trustee because even though l am not privy to most of the weighty decisions of the Board I am referred to as such.” Dag Heward-Mills also raised concerns of lack of clarity on the church. He said several concerns raised about the trustees and the individuals were ignored as many issues regarding the finances of the cathedral were decided on by some persons outside the trustees. “I have been a reachable and available trustee and attended every single meeting of trustees since the pandemic began, in person and by zoom, and the records will show that. If I say that I, as a trustee, do not know many of the financial and technical issues concerning the Cathedral, it means the discussions about the National Cathedral were held by some people outside the trustees’ meeting or perhaps in a forum that I was not present or invited to. “On the one hand, the National Cathedral is said to be a Government of Ghana project, with the government taking financial decisions. Yet, on another hand, at meetings, it is implied that the trustees have taken or participated in taking some decisions.” While resigning, Bishop Dag said: I would like to state clearly that if in the future, there is more clarity to my role and function in the building of the Cathedral, I remain open, available and willing to serve at the pleasure of the President and the nation. Regardless of your response to my resignation and inputs, I remain a supporter of the National Cathedral project and will endeavour to be present to rejoice with the nation when this project is completed.” Bishop Dag however added that even though he has resigned from the trustees, he is not against the construction of the national cathedral. “…I do not wish the media or general public to construe my withdrawal as a sign of a lack of support or belief in the building of the National Cathedral.” One of the top priorities of the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government is the building of a 5,000-seater Cathedral in fulfilment of a pledge made by the President to God before winning the 2016 elections. According to the President, the construction of the National Cathedral is pivotal to the development of Ghana. He explained that the country’s comparative performance against neighbouring countries is mainly by the grace of God. Some of our Reverends who carry themselves in Cassock and are actually armed robbers—Bernard Mornah

Former Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Mr. Bernard Anbataayela Mornah has said some men of God seen in cassocks are armed robbers and not what they made their congregations know about them. According to Mr. Mornah, persons in authority must honor themselves in a manner that will ensure that there is public respect for the offices they hold. And in this instance, some of our Reverends who carry themselves in Cassock and are actually armed robbers. He was responding to the heartbreaking revelation made by the North Tongu Member of Parliament Mr. Ablakwa about the National Secretary Rev. Kusi Boateng who was cut for acquiring two different identities with a different name and date of birth. “The man has two identities and uses one identity to do church service and uses one identity to go and establishes a business and uses that identity he establishes to do a business to now transact with a cathedral”. “If it is Kusi Boateng that was genuine and wanted to assist the national cathedral with the so-called loan they are claiming which is now coming up because, in the document presented to parliament, there was no loan to be repaid. So, if it is that same person, why is he trying to hide your identity? “If people are supposed to lead congregations and look pure and they do these kinds of things to smuggle the society. It is possible that within the same congregation he ministers, he will even be doing business with the same congregation. Becoming a businessman at one end and at the same time, the preacher at the other end. So obviously, this name’ thing is criminal in nature. The attempt by the Cathedral Secretariat to come and defend this indefensible actually put the whole cathedral in a very bad light. Read Ablakwa’s shocking revelation about Nat’l Cathedral Secretary, Rev. Kusi Boateng

The Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency Samuel Ablakwa has made shocking and mind-blowing revelation about the National Cathedral Secretary Prophet, Pastor and Rev. Kusi Boateng a self acclaimed man of God. Read the full revelation posted by the law maker on his Facebook wall on Monday January 16, 2022 Painstaking and diligent parliamentary oversight with the gracious guidance of the omniscient and omnipotent has led to what can only be akin to Tsar Bomba findings. Blatant corruption, conflict of interest, self-dealing and grand fraud have never been this majestic. It couldn’t have ever occurred to us that the conduct of an exalted man of God during the sacred construction of the Lord’s temple would leave an entire nation utterly dumbfounded. You will recall that in my earlier exposé of the scandalous GHS2.6million cash transfer from the National Cathedral Secretariat to JNS Talent Centre Limited, I pointed out that incorporation documents reveal that the three directors of JNS Talent Centre Limited are Johannes Eshun, Sheila Eshun and Kwabena Adu Gyamfi. I also later revealed that Rev. Johannes Eshun is a branch pastor of National Cathedral Executive Council Member/Director, Rev. Victor Kusi-Boateng’s Power Chapel Worldwide. Hitherto, the third director—Mr. Kwabena Adu Gyamfi has remained a mystery figure. I am now able to reveal the true identity of this mystery director of JNS, Kwabena Adu Gyamfi. Definitely, the code has finally been cracked and it shocks to the marrow! Unimpeachable and incontrovertible evidence confirms that Mr. Kwabena Adu Gyamfi is the famous Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng who still serves on the National Cathedral Board as an Executive Council Member/Director. For the avoidance of doubt, there is no distinct Kwabena Adu Gyamfi. Kwabena Adu Gyamfi is a criminal creation of Rev. Victor Kusi-Boateng. The two are therefore one and the same. Rev. Victor Kusi-Boateng AKA Kwabena Adu Gyamfi thought he had outwitted every Ghanaian, particularly our authorities whom he dribbled for many years; but the day of reckoning is finally here. From unassailable and irreproachable documents in my possession, Rev. Victor Kusi-Boateng AKA Kwabena Adu Gyamfi uses multiple passports and multiple identification cards with different names and different dates of birth as his special modus operandi. When JNS Talent Centre Limited was being incorporated, he submitted a passport with the name Kwabena Adu Gyamfi. The passport’s number is G0886001. At the time, he claimed his date of birth was 30th December, 1969. Instructively, the passport bears his unmistakable picture. (See passport in issue attached). Rev. Victor Kusi-Boateng has used other Kwabena Adu Gyamfi passports. Their passport numbers are: G1262918; G0390695 and G3415693. (All duly attached). Curiously, on 25th November, 2021 the Government of Ghana through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration granted Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng a diplomatic passport. The diplomatic passport which expires on 24th November, 2026 rather carries the name Kwabena Adu Gyamfi and not Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng. There’s no indication it’s for the use of a reverend minister. Its diplomatic passport number is: DX006845. (Accordingly attached). The story gets even more fascinating. When the National Cathedral of Ghana was being incorporated on the 19th of July, 2019; Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng used his driving license for the registration. For his driving license, he uses the name Boateng Victor Kusi. In a more bizarre twist, he uses a different date of birth which is captured as: 07/09/1971. This date of birth makes him about two years younger than what’s contained in his numerous Kwabena Adu Gyamfi passports. (Driving License is duly attached). It’s been very puzzling to further discover that the acclaimed man of God and confidant of President Akufo-Addo illegally has two Taxpayer Identification Numbers (TINs)—P0002502682 and P000627241X. The Ghana Revenue Authority has made clear that each Ghanaian can only have one unique TIN and proceeds to prohibit individuals from having multiple TINs. Deeper investigations expose a host of companies which Rev. Kusi-Boateng operates as Kwabena Adu Gyamfi on the blind side of many. These businesses are: Y-CV Construction Ltd.; Qharis Consortium Ltd,; Kharis Football Academy FC Ltd.; El Dunamis Media Limited; Onpoint 1 Laundry Ltd.; Vibrant Generation Chapel Worldwide LBG; Dunamis Chapel Worldwide LBG; El-Dunamis Enterprise and Duna Media Foundation. Some of these entities are registered to engage in small scale mining. My latest tracking of Rev. Victor Kusi-Boateng AKA Kwabena Adu Gyamfi’s travels reveal that he used his diplomatic Kwabena Adu Gyamfi passport on the 12th of January, 2023 aboard flight KP021 from Accra to Lome. He used the same diplomatic passport to Dubai on December 9, 2022 aboard flight EK787. Earlier on 20th November, 2022 he used his ordinary passport on a similar Dubai trip. This shows that he is still actively using the two identities. It remains exceedingly baffling why he keeps two personalities— one as Rev. Victor Kusi-Boateng and the other as Kwabena Adu Gyamfi. Two personalities with different dates of birth; different passports; different TINs; different professions (Business Man and Prophet) and different addresses. What is he running from? Who is he hiding from? Does he suffer from Dissociative Identity Disorder or Multiple Personality Disorder? Having established beyond any scintilla of doubt that Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng is Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia/Ofori-Atta government and the Executive Council Members of the National Cathedral of Ghana owe the Ghanaian people some serious explanations. It would be extremely surprising if they claim they didn’t know this dark side of Kusi Boateng AKA Adu Gyamfi. These explosive findings make the conflict of interest charge in the GHS2.6million scandalous payment by the National Cathedral of Ghana to the shady JNS Talent Centre Limited even more blatant, direct, offensive and absolutely embarrassing. Clearly, Rev. Victor Kusi-Boateng AKA Kwabena Adu Gyamfi sat on the Cathedral board and literally paid his own company a staggering GHS2.6million for no work done. When the siphoning was completed, they captured same as “Contractors Mobilization” and presented it to Parliament hoping that they would legitimize the dubious transaction and therefore get away with murder. It has also emerged from a

Naysayers can’t stop me; ‘I’ll build National Cathedral come what may’ – Akufo-Addo

President Nana Akufo-Addo has said the avalanche of criticisms hurled at him in connection with the National Cathedral project will not deter him from continuing with the construction of the edifice in the remaining two years of his last tenure. Expressing gratitude to the clergy for their support for the project, Mr Akufo-Addo said at a New Year church service at the Jubilee House on Tuesday, 10 January 2023: “It’s always [good] that we hear encouragement because a lot of the time, you hear harsh criticisms and I think to hear encouragement from very responsible members of the community is also something very heartwarming and encouraging”, adding: “It only reinforces our determination to see how we can do it. He said despite the fact that “times are difficult”, it is such situations that call for resolution, strength, and commitment. “And that is what, hopefully, I am showing and my government is showing with the determination that, come what may, we’ll work our way out of the difficulties we have in this country,” he said. He said the hard times are “not permanent, noting: “Ghana is a land with many possibilities, and even though we are caught up in a global conjuncture like many other countries, we can still find our way forward. And that’s my determination”. Mr Akufo-Addo said: “I am determined, come what may, I have two more years, that whatever the case, the National Cathedral will be at a very advanced stage before I leave office. I think it is important that we do it.” “All the reasons that I’ve given and continue to give that there will be critics and naysayers; I think we have to take it as they are all part of life. But it should not be a sign of discouragement to us to be able to go forward,” he added. A few weeks ago, President Akufo-Addo said his decision to build the cathedral to the glory of God has more supporters than the ‘Sanballats and Tobiahs’ against it. “Just like Sanballat and Tobiahs in the days of Nehemiah, there are some who do not share my views on the building of the National Cathedral”, the president said, adding: “I respect their right to differ but I am confident my decision [is backed] by the vast numbers of enthusiastic supporters of this project, whose spiritual dimension is limitless”. The president made the comment on Sunday, 18 December 2022, when he delivered an address at the centenary celebration of the Ga Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, held at the Black Star Square, Accra. The president noted that upon completion, the National Cathedral will serve not only as the country’s collective thanksgiving “to the Almighty for the blessings He has bestowed on our nation, sparing us the ravages of civil war that have bedevilled the histories of virtually all our neighbours, and the outbreak of deadly mass epidemics but also as a rallying point for the entire Christian community of Ghana, which represents seventy-plus per cent of the population.” Addressing the congregation, which included the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante, the asked the Ga Presbytery, and, indeed, all Christians, to continue to pray for Ghana’s peace and unity, so the nation can move forward in unity. “I need the support of every Ghanaian, together with the prayers of the church, to help me and my government carry out our mandate successfully. Pray for me so that Almighty God will continue to give me wisdom, strength, courage and compassion to enable me to execute my duties as a good leader. With Him, all things are possible, as the battle is the Lord’s. For this, too, shall pass”, President Akufo-Addo said. Meanwhile, the Executive Director of the Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), Professor H. Kwasi Prempeh, recently said the National Cathedral is not a sensible project to undertake in the midst of an economic crisis. In his view, the government could use the site for the project, for a more sensible venture. Speaking at a roundtable organised by the Citizen’s Coalition in Accra on Thursday, 15 December 2022, Professor Prempeh said making allocations for the cathedral in the 2023 budget beats his imagination. “When you are in a crisis, you can do exceptional things, I don’t see anything in the budget to suggest that this is a crisis and that this is being done as an emergency measure,” Professor Prempeh said. “This is not the time for vanity projects but we have preserved a vanity project in the form of the cathedral. I was expecting that this being a crisis period, we will reflect on that decision and say: ‘even if this is sensible to do at all’ – and I do not think so – that it will not be the appropriate period or we will change the idea to something else”. “There is a lot that we can still do with that site which can make sense”. “So, generally it is a missed opportunity in terms of seeing this as a crisis moment and seeing it as a moment to reset the button”, Prof Prempeh noted. “I think we have not quite done that”, he stressed. “It looks to me that it is purely an emergency thing targeted at the IMF to approve a loan, as opposed to something that is going deep into the structure and our governance,” Professor H. Kwasi Prempeh admonished in his assessment. Prof Prempeh is in good company with pressure group OccupyGhana which recently recommended that the government suspend all public expenditure on the National Cathedral considering that the country is going through an economic crisis. “Whatever arguments there might have been to support spending now-non-existent money on the proposed National Cathedral, have been eroded by the dire straits that the nation faces”, the group said in a statement. “Our current situation makes the continued commitment in the budget to spend GHS80m on the cathedral, look like a vanity project”,

Public funding for the construction of the National Cathedral project ‘must stop’ –John Dramani Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama has warned that the ongoing public funding for the construction of the National Cathedral project ‘must stop’ especially at this critical time. Apexnewsgh.com report Mr. Mahama said Being a Christian himself, and deeply appreciative of the centrality of God in nation building, he agree with most Ghanaians who believe that the project cannot constitute a top priority of government at this moment. The former President posted his write up below on his Facebook wall on Sunday November 6, 2022 The public funding of the national cathedral, particularly at this time, must stop. Being a Christian myself, and deeply appreciative of the centrality of God in nation building, I agree with most Ghanaians who believe that the project cannot constitute a top priority of government at this moment, warranting further injection of scarce public funds. Because of the non-transparency of the processes and procurements associated with the project, I believe that the cathedral project should be subjected to a value for money audit in other to open the way for believers who wish to contribute to its construction to do so. National Cathedral: ‘Come clean, be transparent’ – Christian Council to Akufo-Addo gov’t

The General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, Dr. Cyril Fayose, has said even though the Church supports President Nana Akufo-Addo and his government’s national cathedral project, the administration must come clean on the whole venture. “Well you know this is the baby of the government and the President; we should not lose sight on that very important part of this whole process”. “Even though the churches had willingly come on board, it’s still dear to the heart of the President and the government. So, if things are not moving on well, they may support.” “I don’t think there’s anything wrong if government supports a religious activity. And I know that in the past previous governments have supported religious activities severally”. “What is important is if government does so, to come clean to put everything on the table and let the whole world know that this is what government is doing to help Christians or to help the nation in its quest for the divine”. “And we do that in several other ways so I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that but they must first come clean”, Dr Fayose told Accra-based Joy News. “Let us be transparent about some of these things and there will be no problem,” he said. A few days ago, Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta revealed that the project, which was initially designed to cost $100 million now will cost $350 million. Mr Ofori-Atta also wondered if using state funds to build the national cathedral that President Nana Akufo-Addo promised to put up for God, if he won the presidency, was too much. “At any point in time when these buildings were built in Europe, was it ever the right time? How do we fund it will become the question”, he asked in an interview on state-owned GTV on Sunday, 12 June 2022. “Is the executive mindful of the current situation? We shouldn’t snuff out our religiousness or spirituality because we are poor”, he noted. “The Lord will understand if we put our widow’s mite in there”, Mr Ofori-Atta noted. “That question being asked is that: Are we spending money from state coffers? Is that too much to do because we are politicising it? Do we really want to stop it? That is going to be my question.” He said: “As a minister of finance, we are looking at resources and how much we put in there at every point in time that is sensible and, so, as we speak, we have spent less than one-thousandth of our expenditure on that.” “I am very confident of raising revenue to be able to fund this and then, more importantly, if I want to look into the economics of it, I truly see an overwhelming capacity that this will pay off. “Typically, I am looking at an internal rate of return, so, we should put this in mind”, the president’s cousin noted. The Christian Council is not the first to call for transparency on the project. Recently, Prophet Dr Kofi Oduro of the Alabaster International Ministry, said President Nana Akufo-Addo is redeeming his personal national cathedral pledge to God through lies and deception. According to Prophet Oduro, the President and the government said no national funds would be used for the cathedral but that has turned out not to be the case now. Prophet Oduro, who supports the idea of a national cathedral, however, told OB Nartey on the maiden edition of No.1 FM’s mid-morning show on Monday, 13 June 2022 that the way the president and the government are going about it is wrong. “Anybody who will say there is no need for a national cathedral has missed the point because we have a national mosque. The essence and the need for a national cathedral is 100 per cent perfect but the way we are going about it, if we are not careful, even Christians will say it offends God”, he said. “The way government is going about this whole thing; let me use the national mosque for example: not a cedi of this nation was used for the construction of the national mosque. It was built by the Turkish government and the Muslim community in Ghana. Why can’t we do the same with the national cathedral? Why are we going to tax this on the nation?” “There are certain things that are not right. The president made a personal vow to God. That vow must be redeemed but not this strategy, not this method”. “The purpose is perfect. We need a national cathedral [but] your methodology is wrong”, he told the president, insisting: “Absolutely wrong”. “You told us that state fund would not be used. Now state funds are required. That’s deception. That’s a lie. You are building something for God”, he said. In his view, President Akufo-Addo could have just invited businessmen and women to the Jubilee House and put his funding request before them and would be surprised that just one person would have given $100,000,000 toward the construction of the national cathedral. “But the way we are going about it, we are going to drag the names of all these men of integrity on the board of the national cathedral into the mud”. “We’ll destroy their reputation with this national cathedral”, he warned. The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, also alleged that on the 29th of October 2020, a few weeks before the national elections, Mr Ofori-Atta, acting on a request by President Akufo-Addo’s Chief of Staff, authorised the release of GHS142,762,500.00 for national cathedral planned activities. According to Mr Ablakwa, contrary to legal requirements, the government concealed “this ginormous GHS142.7 million from Parliament as they deliberately failed to disclose this item as part of their expenditure returns of 2020 during the 2021 budget consideration in Parliament.” This 2020 cathedral expenditure, the opposition MP noted, was also kept away from the Auditor-General in his 2020 audit. In a Facebook post, the lawmaker said so far, adding this
