Discontented Ndc Members Lock Party Office In Protest Of Vice Chairman’s Arrest
A group of dissatisfied members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Northern Region have taken drastic action by locking up the party’s regional office. This protest comes in response to the recent arrest of Alhaji Abdul Hamid, popularly known as Alhaji Gbewaa, who serves as a regional Vice Chairman of the party. The protesters, distinguishable by their red armbands, gathered outside the regional headquarters and engaged in chanting and drumming. They barricaded various offices within the building using pieces of wood and padlocks. The arrest of the Vice Chairman was carried out by the Northern Regional police command on Monday, January 15, following allegations that he assaulted the NDC regional treasurer, Hajia Shamima Yakubu, during a regional executive meeting over the weekend. Hajia Shamima Yakubu sustained visible injuries, including profuse bleeding and facial disfigurement, leading her to report the incident to the police and seek medical attention. As a result, the Vice Chairman was detained by the police to assist in their ongoing investigation, which has sparked discontent among party youth in the region. Yakubu Haruna, the Chairman of the NDC Gbewaa Youth, addressed the media on Tuesday and demanded the immediate release of Alhaji Gbewaa. Mr. Haruna also warned of potential further unrest if the Vice Chairman is not released from custody by the end of the day. NDC condemns #OccupyJulorbiHouse protestors arrest
The recent arrest of the Democracy Hub group during the #OccupyJulorbiHouse demonstration on Thursday September 21, 2023, has been deemed as shameful by the National Democratic Congress (NDC). The Police successfully obtained an application from the court and served the organizers of the Democracy Hub group, who had planned a demonstration near the Jubilee House from Thursday 21st to Saturday 23rd September 2023. However, the demonstrators gathered near the 37 transport stations in Accra on Thursday morning and were subsequently apprehended by the Police. In response to these arrests, the NDC has expressed their belief that this incident represents a significant setback for Ghana’s democracy. “This shameful show of brute force runs counter to that. It’s regrettable the police would think that violence and suppression of human rights is the best way to address issues. “After 31 years of our democratic journey, it is a crying shame that we cannot find more peaceful ways to address these issues. This is a massive step backward for our democracy,” General Secretary of the NDC said Source: Apexnewsgh.com/Ghana For publication please kindly contact us on 0256336062 or Email apexnewsgh@gmail.com
Arise-Ghana expresses interest to join NDC’s occupy BoG demo
The leadership of Arise – Ghana has expressed their willingness to join the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in organizing the planned occupy Bank of Ghana (BoG) demonstration. They state that their decision to join the NDC is based on the alarming revelations they have found in the 2022 Report and financial statements of the Bank of Ghana. The specific details of the damning revelations mentioned by Arise – Ghana have not been specified in the given statement. However, it can be assumed that these revelations have spurred the group’s decision to align themselves with the NDC and participate in the occupy BoG demonstration. The participation of Arise – Ghana is likely to add further momentum to the planned demonstration and potentially increase the impact and visibility of the event. This collaboration between Arise – Ghana and the NDC could potentially lead to amplified public attention and scrutiny on the Bank of Ghana and its operations. “After painstakingly studying the damning revelations contained in the 2022 Report and financial statements of the Bank of Ghana, we have come to the conclusion that the Central Bank is in the unprecedented mess it presently finds itself because of crass mismanagement by the Addison-led Board and management. “We hold the view that the illegal printing of money by BOG in the year 2021 and 2022 to the tune of GHS77 billion to finance the recklessness of the corrupt Akufo-Addo/Bawumia/NPP government, in flagrant disregard of section 30 of the BOG Act (as amended) is the height of irresponsibility and must be condemned by all well-meaning Ghanaians,” the Convener of the group, Comrade Rex Omar stated. He continued: “Even more bizarre and condemnable, is the illegal writing of about GHS32 billion of this amount without recourse to Parliament in breach of section 53 of the Public Financial Management Act.” Kindly read the full statement PRESS STATEMENT For Immediate Release 21st August, 2023 ARISE-GHANA TO JOIN #OCCUPYBOG DEMO IF BOG GOVERNOR, DEPUTIES AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS DO NOT RESIGN OVER THEIR GROSS MISMANAGEMENT AriseGhana has followed keenly the recent public discourse on the dire state of the Bank of Ghana emanating from the 2022 audit Report and Financial Statements of the bank. After painstakingly studying the damning revelations contained in the 2022 Report and financial statements of the Bank of Ghana, we have come to the conclusion that the Central Bank is in the unprecedented mess it presently finds itself because of crass mismanagement by the Addison-led Board and management. We hold the view that the illegal printing of money by BOG in the year 2021 and 2022 to the tune of GHS77 billion to finance the recklessness of the corrupt Akufo-Addo/Bawumia/NPP government, in flagrant disregard of section 30 of the BOG Act (as amended) is the height of irresponsibility and must be condemned by all well-meaning Ghanaians. Even more bizarre and condemnable, is the illegal writing of about GHS32 billion of this amount without recourse to Parliament in breach of section 53 of the Public Financial Management Act. In fact, these irresponsible and criminal acts of the BOG Governor, ably supported by his deputies and useless Board of Directors, is what has plunged the once profitable BOG bank into unprecedented losses to the tune of GHS60.8 billion and a negative equity of GHS55.1 billion in 2022 alone. It is sad to note, that despite the huge sums of monies (over GHS77 billion) that BOG has illegally printed for the corrupt Akufo-Addo/Bawumia/NPP government, the vast majority of suffering Ghanaians have not seen any improvements in their livelihoods. As a matter of fact, due to this singular reckless act of BOG, the rate of inflation continues to soar and currently stands at 43.1% thereby depleting the purchasing power of the ordinary Ghanaians who have not seen any commensurate improvement in their disposable incomes. Sadly, while Ghanaians continue to suffer as a result of the mismanagement of BOG and the Bawumia-chaired Economic Management Team, greedy and corrupt officials of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia/NPP government continue to stash their homes with millions of dollars which they have amassed in government, as we witnessed in the latest scandal involving the former Minister of Sanitation, Cecilia Abena Dapaah. Additionally, we have taken note of and are totally disgusted by the outrageous operational expenses that the Addison-led BOG engaged in last year as captured in the 2022 Report and Financial statements of the Bank. It is unconscionable that at a time the economy has virtually been collapsed and Ghanaians are experiencing excruciating hardships including a punitive debt restructuring policy, BOG will spend a whopping GHS131.6 million on vehicle maintenance; GHS67.9 million on computer-related expenses; GHS97.4 million on foreign and domestic travels; GHS32 million on communication expenses; and a staggering GHS357.9 million on banking supervision among others. Again, it is totally irresponsible, that the BOG has chosen to embark on an ill-timed and hyper-inflated new office complex project at a cost of a staggering $250,000,000.00 at a time it has incurred such gargantuan losses and negative equity due to mismanagement and financial imprudence. We share the view, that the decision by BOG to build a new $250 million office complex at this time is a misplaced priority and the height of insensitivity which must not be countenanced by Ghanaians. It is against this backdrop, that AriseGhana has decided to join and hereby joins the call by the Minority Caucus in Parliament for the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, his deputies and Board of Directors to resign with immediate effect to save the central bank from further mismanagement and deterioration. We hereby serve notice, that should the aforementioned officials of BOG refuse to resign within the 21-day ultimatum given them, AriseGhana and its allies will join forces with the Minority and other progressive forces to demand their resignation through a series of public protests. ……signed…. NDC spirit is down already in Kumawu—John Boadu
John Boadu, former general secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party, said he is optimistic the NPP will emerge victorious in the ongoing by-election at Kumawu. Mr. Boadu said, the NDC has been down spirited after coming to the realization that they have lost the elections battle already. He said the victory is surely going to be a one-touch victory for the NPP. “I know that even the NDC, they’re aware that this is a no-go area for them and you can see their spirit is down already and all that. So it’s not news at all. We only want to maximize our votes and bring back the Kumawu seat in our basket,” he stated. According to the former secretary, he stormed Kumawu to observe the electoral process in the various polling stations. Meanwhile, he also expressed hope that the election was going to remain peaceful and devoid of violence since Ghana was noted for such good records in our previous elections. Also speaking about the slow pace of the process, Mr. John Boadu disclosed that he was very optimistic that people were going to turn out in their numbers to cast votes. Voters in Kumawu will elect a replacement for their Member of Parliament, Philip Atta Basoah, who died on 27th March this year while still serving his 3rd consecutive term. Ernest Yaw Anim , is representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) whiles Kwasi Amankwaa is the NDC candidate. There are two independent candidates with the name Kwaku Duah also battling to be elected. Dr. Bawumia hits NDC hard in Kumawu with these two….
Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has used Dumsor and Ghana fowl that escaped to Burkina Faso to round up his campaign at the final rally of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Kumawu Constituency in the Ashanti Region. Pointing out some of the drama that happened during the time of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Bawumia pointed out ‘dumsor, as one of the reasons the NPP faithful must reject the NDC in Kumawu. According to the Vice President, “The NDC is roaming about that we should vote for the NDC candidate, do they think that we have forgotten about them or that we don’t think? He asked “Do you remember that during the NDC era, we slept in dumsor, for four years; is that not the case? Do you want us to go back to dumsor again? Or you want him to go and bring back the missing guinea fowls that escaped to Burkina Faso? During their time in office, the NDC established two factories, just two. We have established over 150”. Kumawu by-election: Bawumia’s dabble in ‘cheap’ guinea-fowl politics shows how ‘low’ he’s sunk – NDC
The National Democratic Congress has said Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia’s recent comment that “guinea fowls flew to Burkina Faso under John Mahama” during one of his campaign tours in the lead-up to the Kumawu by-election slated for today, Tuesday, 23 May 2023, “is nothing but a deliberately contrived lie” that he and his ilk “continue to rehash”. “That the Vice President will continue to dabble in this cheap spin reveals how low he has descended”, a statement from the biggest opposition party signed by national communications officer Sammy Gyamfi said. “Indeed”, the statement noted, “it is noteworthy to remind Bawumia and his likes that Manasseh Azuri Awuni, the journalist who investigated the guinea fowl production and marketing joint venture project by the Savanna Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) and the Asongtaba Cottage Industry, is on public record to have refuted this claim”. Factories: Bawumia’s ‘NDC 2, NPP 150’ claim ‘barefaced lie’, NDC says VP must cure ‘own ignorance’ on ‘poor 1D1F’ At the same Kumawu campaign event, Dr Bawumia also said the Mahama administration built only two factories against the Akufo-Addo government’s 150. In the same statement, the NDC described the claim as “a barefaced lie”. “For the records”, the statement added, “the erstwhile NDC/Mahama administration established strategic, high-priority state-owned factories that anchored growth in key sectors of the Ghanaian economy”. “We must hasten to point out to the Vice President that if his so-called 150 factories claim relates to government’s poorly-implemented 1D1F programme, then he needs to educate himself and cure his own ignorance about the nature of their so-called 1D1F initiative”. “This is because none of the said 1D1F factories was actually built by the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government”. —Classfm—
Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang stands tall ahead of many others eying the running mate slot—Joyce Bawa Mogtari
Special Aide to former President John Dramani Mahama Joyce Bawa Morgtari has said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) 2020 Running mate and former Minister for Education Prof. Jane Naana Opku Agyemang stand tall ahead of many others eying that same envious position ahead of the 2024 general election. Joyce Bawa Mogtari who was speaking on GHOne TV on Thursday monitored by Apexnewsgh.com described Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang as a strong contender for the slot. “I believe she’s in strong contention, we are on the cusp of making history, on the verge of winning a hotly contested election. At a point where we need our very best to put forth and Naana Jane certainly stands tall but there are many others. As I said, these are decisions that very high level people will be making of course in consultation with the flagbearer and many other stakeholders, we are very far behind in the process of these sorts of things. “Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang is a fantastic individual and a woman of enormous grace. She’s been with us through thick and thin right from 2017. She’s one of those who always gave support. As an individual and for my personal opinion, Prof. Naana Jane is a fantastic addition to the ticket.” John Mahama Special Aide stressed Source: Apexnewsgh.com/Ghana For publication please kindly contact us on 0256336062 or Email apexnewsgh@gmail.com
Remember my promises and hold me accountable– John Mahama told Ghanaians
The Flag bearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama has informed Ghanaians to remember his promises and hold him accountable when elected President in the 2024 general election. The former President made the pronouncement when giving his post-election acceptance speech at the University of Development Studies (UDS) on Monday, May 15 2023 after he received a massive endorsement of 98.9 percent vote from delegates in the just-ended NDC primaries. Giving his speech, Mr. Mahama said “I wish to reiterate some of my commitments to the people of Ghana. I want you to. I will keep each of the promises when I assume office on January 07, 2025, God willing.” Below are the promises: 1. Restore stability and inclusive growth to the economy and rejuvenate the almost collapsed banking and financial sector. This will involve sweeping reforms at the Bank of Ghana because the Central Bank itself has been part of the problem. 2. I will ensure that Ghana never suffers such a deadly debt management programme that threatens to send elderly people holding government bonds to their early graves and wipe out the investments of the Ghanaian middle class. 3. Prioritize local participation in the banking, financial, telecommunications, mining, oil and gas, agriculture, manufacturing, and construction sectors to generate more jobs for the youth. The Ghanaian young women and men we interact with on daily basis and their colleagues in other African countries are simply tired of jobless GDP figures. 4. Actively attract viable and serious private sector investors to partner government to invest in the productive sectors of the economy for more jobs to be created. This will involve an emphasis on agriculture and agribusiness and will have a strong focus on making Ghanaians own their own micro enterprises. 5. Complete abandoned and ongoing projects instead of rushing to start new ones. We will carry out an inventory of all hospitals, schools, electrification, water, and road projects which have stalled or been abandoned and make annual budgetary allocation for completing them. 6. Beyond the economic front, we will also be very thick on governance because transparent and accountable governance at all levels remains an assured fuel that fires the socio-economic transformation of successful nations. 7. We will establish a Governance Advisory Council to help improve political governance, curb corruption, and ensure the respect for human rights is upheld. The Council will include representatives of civil society organizations, religious leaders, traditional leaders, and ordinary Ghanaians, and among others, they will be empowered to release a State of Governance in Ghana report every year. 8. I will run the leanest but most efficient government under the fourth republic by appointing not more than 60 ministers and deputy ministers. 9. I will work to abolish the payment of Ex-gratia and cut out waste and ostentation in Government. 10. We shall work with Parliament and all stakeholders to complete the constitution review process and strengthen separation of powers. 11. Government procurement is recognized as a major source of corruption and misappropriation of public funds. We will among other measures, set up an Independent Value for Money office to scrutinize all government procurements above a $5 million threshold or as shall be recommended by Parliament. 12. I will give anti-corruption state institutions unfettered space to operate – The days of the Clearing agent must come to an end on January 07, 2025. 13. I will also set up a Commission of Enquiry to investigate the matter of looted State Lands and make recommendations for resolving the vexed issue of expropriated Ga-Dangbe lands. 14. And to deepen our democracy, the Fourth Estate of the realm – the media – must also be given the conducive and collaborative atmosphere to operate as the fourth power that they ought to be without threats, harassments, and assassinations. “Akufo-Addo on his knees begging for money”– Joyce Bawa Mogtari
Joyce Bawa Mogtari, a Special Aide to former President John Mahama has said, all the promises made by President Akufo-Addo have fallen flat, leading to him running to IMF to beg for support. Madam Mogtari during an exclusive interview told Apexnewsgh.com, that, if Upper East Region had received the compliment of the promises made by the Akufo-Addo and Bawumia NPP government, especially with the promise of One Million Dollar Per Constituency things would be better. “The other people who campaigned on propaganda with many lies and falsehoods, they promised to give you One Million Dollars per constituency, if Upper East Region had received the compliment of the promises made by Akufo-Addo and Bawumia, the promise of One Million Dollar Per Constituency we won’t be having this conversation, obviously that promise has fallen flat. You were promised One Village One Dam, it has fallen flat, and you were even promised that all the infrastructure that is lagging will be developed”. “Today, our President Akufo-Addo promised us he will protect the public purse to arrest the dollar and today he is begging on his knees for money from the IMF”. She stated “What happens to the question of Ghana beyond aid? Madam Mogtari believes that, if there is any human being who cares about Ghana, who understands what we have as a people, who appreciates that all that we need is to build together, it is John Dramani Mahama for two reasons. “President Mahama has to remain truth and honest speaking on what we genuinely lack and what we need”. However, she is confident that, “If President Mahama promised you today that he will deliver, I have no doubt in my mind that he will deliver and for the last 8 years, every Ghanaian understand and appreciates that it was a propaganda of 2014,2015 and 2016”.
