Alan mode of resignation “disappointing” he never show any sign of wanting to leave the party–NPP

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed its disappointment with Mr. Alan Kyerematen’s sudden resignation from the party. The NPP stated that Mr. Kyerematen gave no indication of his intention to leave the party before calling a press conference to announce his departure. Justin Kodua, the General Secretary of the party, addressed this issue during a press conference held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023. Mr. Kodua emphasized that the disappointing aspect was the manner in which Mr. Kyerematen chose to resign without prior notice, opting instead for a press conference. “The party wants to believe that by this decision to hold a press conference to resign without first informing the leadership of the party suggests that he made a premeditated and irrevocable decision to resign from the party.” The General Secretary of the NPP recently disclosed that during a visit from their National Chairman, Steven Ntim, to Mr. Kyerematen after the Electoral College in August, there was no indication that Mr. Kyerematen would be leaving the party or becoming an independent candidate. The NPP recognizes Mr. Kyerematen’s valuable contributions to their party’s progress and development throughout the years. The General Secretary expressed gratitude for his service to the party and the nation as a whole.  NPP: Sagnarigu polling station Chairman suspended indefinitely–Here are the reasons

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a directive to Mohammed Osman, Chairman of Polling Station Darul-Salem Islamic School in Wurishie, Sagnarigu Constituency in the Northern Region, not to hold himself as such. This step has been taken following Mr. Osman’s indefinite suspension from the party. The reasons behind Mr. Osman’s suspension was stated in the letter. It is clear that his suspension is a result of some form of misconduct or violation of party regulations or code of conduct. The directive from the NPP to Mr. Osman not to identify himself or act as the Chairman of Polling Station Darul-Salem Islamic School implies that his role within the party has been revoked or nullified for the time being. “We received a report and videos concerning an act of property destruction at the Sagnarigu Constituency office on Friday July 21st 2023. The incident was an attempt to vent frustration towards certain candidates vying for positions in the upcoming parliamentary primaries within the Constituency,” the party said. “Everyone has the right to express their disagreement within the party, but there are specific procedures for doing so.” “Unfortunately you did not follow these procedures and instead took matters into your own hands by vandalizing party property. “This kind of behavior is unacceptable and goes against Article 4 sub-section 8, (1 and 2) in the Party Constitution.” “You are hereby directed not to hold yourself or represent the party in any capacity during the suspension period,” the letter captured. Full text speech of Dr. Bawumia’s nomination form filing

SPEECH DR. MAHAMUDU BAWUMIA ON FILING OF NOMINATION FORM FOR 2024 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION Thank you all for the overwhelming support you have shown me today. I am very humbled by this massive show of support. I would also like to thank my dear wife Samira and all my family for the support you have given me all these years. God bless you all. Dear friends,  I have just filed my nomination forms to contest as flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party for the 2024 Presidential Elections.      I believe this is the first step to our victory in 2024, by the Grace of God. This is a very important day in my life. From Sakasaka Primary School to Tamale Secondary School, to Oxford University, to Bank of Ghana as Deputy Governor and then to become Vice President of the Republic of Ghana. It has been an amazing journey and I thank God for how far he has brought me. 3   Dear friends, it has not been an easy journey. It has taken a lot of hard work, discipline and patience to get here. I have walked to school growing up in Moshie Zongo in Tamale. I have been a by day worker on farms during holidays in secondary school, I have been a warehouse boy even after finishing university, I have been a minicab driver, I was only able to pay fees for one term during my studies at Oxford University and had to survive for the rest of my studies without paying fees, thanks to my College.  I only settled my fees in arrears after I started work following the completion of my PhD in Canada. 4  I have also been a cleaner of dormitories in my university days in Canada. So, I can say that I have not had it easy at all. But I have always believed that with hard work, honesty, discipline and faith in God, one can fulfill one’s God given potential.   5  My life experience tells me never to take anything for granted and always to have respect for people no matter their stature in life ; no matter how big or how small they are. The cleaner or driver you meet today can be a Vice President or President tomorrow. I care about the poor, I care about the vulnerable and the excluded. I care about the Lepers, I care about the sick, the sickle cell sufferers and cancer patients, I care about the disabled, I care about the Kayayei, I care about street children, and I care about the unemployed amongst others. This is the true essence of life; to address the problems of the weakest among us and to help them lift themselves up. 6  I am not afraid of hard work. In fact, I enjoy hard work. My experience in life tells me that honesty and hard work pays. I worked hard for H.E. President Kufuor as Deputy Governor at the Bank of Ghana and I have worked hard as Vice President in assisting the President, E. Nana Akufo-Addo, achieve his vision. Together, we started the process of transforming Ghana into a country ready for the fourth Industrial Revolution.  I brought honesty, hard work, dedication and discipline to my role as Vice President. 7  Notwithstanding the economic challenges of our time,  our government has constructed more infrastructure than any other government in the fourth republic and many transformational policies have been introduced for the first time in our history, including the Ghanacard, Digital Address, Mobile Money Interoperability, Delivery of medicines by drones, One District One Factory, Planting for Food and Jobs, Zongo Development Fund, Agenda 111, Free TVET and Free SHS to mention a few. We have also created 2.1 million jobs in six years, more than any government in the fourth republic. 8  Having implemented these transformational policy initiatives, it is very important that we don’t go backwards as a country. We cannot put the country back in the hands of people who don’t have an understanding of and belief in the vision. That is why it important for us to break the eight. There is still much more to do. 9  I also have my own vision for Ghana. I believe that it is time to move Ghana to the next level by building on the foundations we have put in place so far. 10  Together with you, I want to see a Ghana where we leverage technology, data and systems for inclusive economic growth. I want to make Ghana the digital hub of Africa. I want us to bridge the digital divide and apply digital technology and artificial intelligence for the transformation of healthcare, education, and public service delivery amongst others. 11  Together with you, I want to see a Ghana with an education system tilted towards STEM, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, digital and vocational skills to cope with the demands of fourth Industrial Revolution. 12  Together with you, I want to see a Ghana where we cater and care for the the poor, vulnerable, excluded and sick people. 13  Together with you, I want to see a Ghana where we attain food security in the shortest possible time through the application of science, data, Artificial Intelligence, Satellite, Internet of Things (IOT) and irrigation to commercial farming. We will also complete the ongoing digitalization of data on all farms across the 16 regions. 14  Together with you, I want to see a Ghana where we maximize the benefits from our natural resources like gold and lithium through policies like, value addition, setting up an LBMA certified gold refinery, enhancing the gold for oil policy, and dedication of specific gold concessions to the Bank of Ghana to enhance their accumulation of gold reserves. 15  Together with you, I want to see Ghana as an industrialized nation. I want to entrench and enhance the current strategy of industrialization that we have embarked on and introduce new technology like digital manufacturing for the manufacturing of spare parts, syringes, and other equipment.

‘PetroSA deal is absurd and scandalous’ – NAPO calls out Freddie Blay, GNPC

The Minister for Energy, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, alias NAPO, has called out the Board Chairman of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Freddie Blay, over the PetroSA deal, which seeks to offload some of Ghana’s oil interests to the South African National Company (PetroSA). According to The Chronicle newspaper, NAPO, in a letter to Freddie Blay, which it sighted, accused the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) chairman of pushing for the deal despite a government directive for it to cease. The energy minister, who is also the member of parliament for Manhyia South, told Blay that it is scandalous for him to be pushing for the deal even though he has been told on a number of occasions that it will not be approved because it is not in the interest of Ghana. He ordered the GNPC board chairman to withdraw from the deal and to stop further engagements on it. “Subsequent to the meeting with my counterpart, Hon. Gwede Mantasha, Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy in South Africa, on the above subject, I have had cause to formally respond to him in two successive correspondences affirming the government’s position on the matter, and you were in copy in all instances. “It is therefore scandalous that, in spite of these directives, you have led GNPC to offer part of the government-acquired JOHL interest in the DWT to PetroSA. I direct that you cease and desist from any further flouting of the directives forthwith and withdraw the offer made to PetroSA in your letter of 23 April 2023 immediately,” parts of Napo’s letter to Blay is quoted by The Chronicle. In another letter to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, NAPO complained that Blay was going on with the PetroSA deal even though he had been directed not to. He told the president that the GNPC was trying to sell 50 per cent of the 7 per cent interest the government recently acquired in the Anadarko West Cape Three Points Company (WCTPC). “The Chairman of the GNPC Board, in the letter under reference, is inviting PetroSA to preempt the 7% interest that was recently acquired by the Government of Ghana from Anadarko West Cape Three Points Company (“Anadarko”) and proposing an equal split of the Deep Water Tano (“DWT”) portion which would decrease the government’s interest. “We wish to bring this action of the Chairman, which is in direct contravention of the Government of Ghana’s express directives on the subject matter, to the urgent attention of His Excellency the President,” parts of the letter which was addressed to the secretary to the president, read. UER: NPP Youth Group Give Upper East Regional Minister 2weeks Ultimatum to Resign or….

Youth of the governing New Patriotic Party popularly known as NPP Youth Group For Party Development and Agambila Youth  of NPP in the Upper East Regional Capital Bolgatanga have registered some level of frustrations and displeasure over the treatment meted against Yeneya Mining Enterprise a mining institution belonging to Hon. Charles T. Ndanbon, the Upper East Regional Organizer of the governing NPP. The group has given Upper East Regional Minister two weeks to tender his resignation or they will hit the street. The aggrieved NPP youth group during a press conference read by the PRO NPP Youth Group For Party Development Abdulai Hudu demanded that the Upper East Regional Minister Stephen Yakubu should “Quickly resolve the impasse he the regional minister has created between Hon. Charles T. Ndanbon and the Earl International. “Return the money meant for Hon. Charles T. Ndanbon to Earl International so that he (Hon. Charles T. Ndanbon) will go and collect the money directly from Earl International”. “Resign from his post as the regional minister or else we the youth groups will hit the streets after two weeks from today”. “We want to state that Hon. Charles T. Ndanbon has not assigned or directed anyone to collect money or mediate on his behalf or on behalf of his company and therefore the alleged act of the regional Minister could amount to false representation which is criminal. By this act of the Regional Minister, we are calling on the law-enforcement agencies, notably the NIB and the police, to investigate him and bring him to book if found culpable” the group demands However, when Apexnewsgh contacted the Regional Minister on the concerns raised by the youth, the Minister said he has no right as an individual to take anybody’s concession, “do I work with Mineral Commission? Am I the company [Earl International]? The problem is that, this company they are talking about [Earl International], they had a license and this license was signed by then Minister in 2019 and my understanding is that, it has been ratified by parliament and if you go deep into the matter, you would see that people were not even happy that they have given the concession to them”. “We have a ministry that deals with that. So, it is not the Regional Minister that give that concession to Earl International and it happened in 2019, 2019 was I here? I wasn’t here”. He asked I don’t know what else he want me to do, he has told everybody that he has not asked me to act on his behalf and I have left it and I have told the company that the person am talking for, said I should not speak for him again, so they should deal with him directly” The Minister said. Below is the full statement released by the youth group: PRESS STATEMENT NPP YOUTH GROUP FOR PARTY DEVELOPMENT AND AGAMBILA YOUTH OF NPP IN UPPER EAST REGION ON THE ABUSE OF OFFICE BY THE UPPER EAST REGIONAL MINISTER (HON. STEPHEN YAKUBU) AND HIS UNDUE INTERFERENCE IN THE MINING BUSINESS OF HON. CHARLES T. NDANBON (NPP REGIONAL ORGANISER / PARTY FINANCIER) The Upper East regional minister (Hon Stephen Yakubu) abused his office by using the Regional Coordinating Council GCB account number 9011130014513 to receive Compensation meant for Yeneya Mining Enterprise owned by the NPP regional organizer and a party financier (Hon. Charles T. Ndanbon). We want to state that Hon. Charles T. Ndanbon has not assigned or directed anyone to collect money or mediate on his behalf or on behalf of his company and therefore the alleged act of the regional Minister could amount to false representation which is criminal. By this act of the Regional Minister, we are calling on the law-enforcement agencies, notably the NIB and the police, to investigate him and bring him to book if found culpable. It is public knowledge in the upper East region that between 2008 to 2021 Hon Charles T Ndanbon and Shaanxi were having cordial business relationship after he traveled to China to lobby Shaanxi into Ghana. The Company has since employed so many youths in the region and has contributed to the development of the region. In 2021 the small-scale mining license of Shaanxi was revoked and they were required to acquire a large-scale mining license which they did with a new name Earl International Gold Limited and signed an agreement with their original mining partner (Hon Charles T. Ndanbon) CEO of Yeneya mining Enterprise on certain terms agreed upon by both parties, To the Suprise of Hon. Charles T Ndanbon, the regional minister called him to a meeting to inform him that Earl International Gold mining limited wanted to buy off his entire concession contrary to their earlier agreement which he (Hon. Charles T Ndanbon) turned down. But sadly, the Earl International is currently mining in his concession under Police and military protection offered by the regional minister meanwhile the percentage due him/his company is not being honored by Earl International which the regional minister is much aware of. We want to state clearly that Hon. Charles T Ndanbon is not against Earl international’s large Scale mining status but only demands that the agreement signed earlier should be complied with. We the youth groups here want to state categorically clear that it’s the effort of Hon Charles T Ndanbon that Earl International Gold Mining limited formerly Shaanxi came into Ghana and Upper East Region to be precise and anyone enjoying from the mining activities of Earl International is enjoying from the labour of Hon. Charles T Ndanbon. We as NPP youth are therefore calling on the regional minister to; Quickly resolve the impasse he the regional minister has created between Hon. Charles T Ndanbon and the Earl International. Return the money meant for Hon. Charles T. Ndanbon to Earl International so that he (Hon. Charles T. Ndanbon) will go and collect the money directly from Earl International. Resign from his post as the regional minister or else we the youth

Binduri is neither for NDC nor NPP, claiming the seat is for the NDC is a fallacy—Ayinbisa’s response to Abdallah Salifu

The Upper East Regional Communication Director of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Mr. Peter Ayinbisa has said, the Binduri seat does not belong to either NPP or NDC as he rubbishes claims made by Abdallah Salifu that Binduri Seat is for the opposition NDC. Speaking to ApexnewsGhana Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen in an exclusive interview, Mr. Ayinbisa said: “The Binduri seat is for the people of Binduri and not for either NPP or NDC. The people of Binduri have the right by the 1992 constitution to have a representation in Parliament, somebody who represents their issues and concerns in Parliament, demanding answers from duty bearers and giving feedback to the constituents”. “So, for somebody to claim that it is their seat is a fallacy and such people are dreaming and unfortunately they are dreaming in the afternoon when dreams happens when we are asleep. Ayinbisa stressed According to the NPP Regional Communication Director, “The Binduri seat for sometime now has become almost like a swing seat, the NPP has won it for the second time and the NDC have won more of the seats, is one of the seats that you can’t say that it belong to party A or B because when you think is going to be won by NDC, it goes to NPP and when you think is going to be won by the NPP, it goes to NDC. And you know that the current Regional Minister has won that seat before and so nobody can claim ownership of that seat”. He maintained Meanwhile, he is much confident, “The people of Binduri are very rational people. They are rational in the sense that, they are looking for development, they are looking for people who will bring development to their Constituency. Voting has a meaning, for people to go and queue to register during registrations, for people to go and queue to check their names on the register, it means there is an intention. The intention is not for individual benefit, it is for a collective benefit. The collective benefit has to do with the fact that they expect their representative to bring them some considerable amount of development and if you looked at those who have represented the Binduri constituency over the years since 1992, I can speak on authority and deer the NDC either regional communication officer or anybody from the constituency to prove me wrong that there have been an MP in that constituency including our own person who was there before who have developed Binduri constituency more than Hon. Abanga. Nobody!” stressed Ayinbisa is extremely confident the work of Hon. Abanga and the NPP will pave way him in the next election. “People who are engaged in illegal mining are worse than arm robbers”—Sammy Gyamfi

National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Sammy Gyamfi has said, people who are engaged in illegal mining are worse than arm robbers, because what they do is to satisfy their greed and selfishness. Apexnewsgh.com reports Mr. Gyamfi, made the pronouncement on the TV3 morning programme monitored by Apexnewsgh.com on Friday, April 28, 2023, when discussing Prof. Kwabena Frimpong Boateng’s controversial reports “People who are engaged in illegal mining are worse than arm robbers, because what they do is to satisfy their greed and selfishness. They destroy water bodies we rely on for our very sustenance. You know water is life, so if destroy our waters bodies, our forest reserve just to satisfy your insensible greed and self-interest like these appointees have shamelessly done, you are a murderer, you are a criminal and you deserve to be defended”. He said According to Mr. Gyamfi, the report also captured that party functionaries and the Chinese were all in the forest reserve destroying water bodies without no mercy for Ghanaians “Frimpong Boateng’s report also talked about the fact that right from the National executive level of the NPP to the Unit Committee level, Regional Executives they all engage in indiscriminate galamsey with the Chinese destroying our water bodies. This is not the gospel according to NDC or Sammy Gyamfi. If the Aligator comes from the water to tell you that the crocodile is dead, you don’t argue it, the man was at the helm of affairs in charge of the fight and this is his verdict”. Meanwhile, the report also said, a Member of Parliament Hon. Albert Joseph Quarm obtained a lot of mining concessions which he sold to whooping( Ghc 2 billion) Two Billion old Ghana Cedis. I will be glad if they go to court. Because Prof. Frimpong Boateng anytime he is challenged forcefully has come out with better particulars with even more evidence to substantiate the claims he made in the report. NDC stands a strong chance of winning the 2024 presidential poll and securing a legislative majority– EIU

According to the report, the National Democratic Congress may win both the presidential and parliamentary elections in Ghana in the 2024 general polls. The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) made the prediction in its latest report released on Friday, April 28, 2023. “The NDC, therefore, stands a strong chance of winning the 2024 presidential poll and securing a legislative majority,” EIU noted. Poor governance and economic hardship are largely, the concluding factors for the expected voting patterns. EIU, however, noted that, irrespective of who retains power, it expects Ghana’s policy to continue to focus on ensuring macroeconomic stability. The report also captured that the new government will face similar economic challenges its predecessor encountered. “The next parliamentary and presidential elections are due in 2024. Under constitutionally mandated term limits, the incumbent president, Nana Akufo-Addo, cannot run for a third term, and he has pledged to comply. “In early January the trade and industry minister, Alan Kyerematen, resigned and announced his bid to become the NPP’s presidential candidate. We expect the contests to secure the presidential candidacies of both the NPP and the NDC to be highly competitive, with several high-profile figures expected to contend. John Mahama, the former president, launched his campaign to secure the NDC presidential candidacy in March. However, the NDC could also choose to revitalise its prospects with a fresh candidate, such as Kwabena Duffuor, a former finance minister, who has also declared his intention to secure the party candidacy.
