Yes, a modern Police station with my Common Fund and with the understanding that if we are able to build this police station, we will attain the district status as soon as is practicable because we are not getting the staff. We were usually allocating the staff from Bolgatanga”. He added: “Now, I have done all that and I even walled it for them. I want to know, from your answer it still appears not clear, I want to know, can I get a timeline for this police station, for the district status? He asked. Bandits with military-grade weapons planning to launch attack in Bolga and Tamale
Ghana Police Service has warned of a planned attack by some Burkina Faso-based bandits in communities within the Bolgatanga townships and their environs including areas in Tamale in the coming days. The Police in a wireless message said it suspects the bandits are in possession of military-grade weapons and may have already infiltrated Ghana at yet to be identified locations in the Northern region. The Police noted that the bandits are poised to launch the attacks any moment from now and has, therefore, directed its commanders to increase patrols to quell the planned attacks. The warning comes on the back of concerns over the state of insecurity in the country. On Monday, 14 June 2021, three armed men on two motorbikes with unidentified registration numbers attacked and robbed a Nissan bullion van with registration number GT 8592 W with the inscription Montran Company. A policeman aboard was shot dead by the robbers. The driver was left injured. The James Town District Police Command rushed to the crime scene and found the said van parked in the middle of Adedenko metal market road with the glasses of three doors shattered. The body of the murdered policeman identified as Constable Emmanuel Osei of the National SWAT unit, was found in a puddle of blood at the front seat. The police said the driver, known only as wisdom, was not met at the scene. Onlookers led the police to a wooden structure where the body of one Afua Badu, about 40 years old, was found lying in a prone position in a puddle of blood. The police said their enquiries revealed she was pursued and shot by the robbers for raising an alarm. The police also located an official, Grace Essel, who escaped from the van unhurt and took refuge in the community. She has been sent to the police hospital for treatment. The two bodies were conveyed to the police hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy. The police said they have gathered information that the robbers made away with the AK 47 rifle of the deceased policeman and an unspecified amount of money. UER: Police will not countenance persons that are bent on ……- Regional Police Commander
The Regional Police Commander, DCOP disclosed that his office is adequately prepared for any eventuality and ultimately poised to safeguarding the relative peace in the region as some number of police personnel together with the military had been deployed to man the various polling centers across the region. Speaking in an interview, he encouraged the public to come out freely on the day of the election and exercise their franchise adding the police will not countenance or tolerate persons that are bent on fomenting trouble or indulge in acts that have the potency to jeopardize the relative peace being enjoyed in the region. The Upper Regional Police Command says recent agitations by some members of the opposition NDC over the safety of voter materials had been duly resolved and were currently under its protection. The Upper East Regional Police Command on Friday, November 20, 2020, took delivery of voter materials meant for both presidential and parliamentary elections in the upcoming December 7 elections. Upon its arrival, some party agents of the NDC who were present at the time impressed on the police to lock the Joint Operation Centre, where the materials were being kept with a padlock. Although the police assured them of its total safety, they declined and insisted the place be locked with their padlocks aside from that of the police. They also threatened to spend the night there till they are convinced that the materials are safe and not tampered with. This generated heated verbal exchanges between the agents and the police. In the heat of the confrontation, some persons believed to be supporters of the NDC and numbering about a hundred massed up at the center to express their displeasure about the position of the police. It took the intervention of some NDC party bigwigs including the former Defence Minister, Mark Woyongo to calm down nerves. The Regional Police Commander, issues surrounding the unfortunate incident had been duly resolved and urging them to discard any media reportage that goes to suggest that there was tension in the region. DCOP Kwaku Ampofo-Duku allayed the fears of the public following some media reports that seem to suggest that there was tension in the region adding adequate measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of the materials Apexnewsgh.com/ Ghana/ Prosper Adankai Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications
