Sampson Tangombu Chiragia Urges Constituents to Vote NDC for Development

In the heart of the Navrongo Central Constituency, nestled within the picturesque landscape of Ghana, lies the vibrant community of Naaga. Apexnewsgh reports Here, the people are eagerly awaiting the upcoming elections, hoping for a brighter future filled with development and progress. Their Member of Parliament, Sampson Tangombu Chiragia, a dedicated advocate for his constituents, has been tirelessly urging the people of Naaga to throw their support behind the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections. He passionately believes that aligning with the NDC will pave the way for much-needed development in Naaga and the entire constituency. Emphasizing the historical ties between Naaga and the NDC, Chiragia pointed out that the community has long been a stronghold for the party, with its chief being a Cedar. He cautioned against turning away from the party due to opposition, stressing that electing John Dramani Mahama as president would necessitate a local representative to ensure that development projects reach Naaga. “John Mahama cannot bring development to Naaga from Accra; you need someone to follow up on your behalf, and that must be the MP,” he emphasized. Mr. Chiragia also underscored the crucial importance of supporting the NDC parliamentary candidate, Simon Aworigo, on ballot number 2, alongside casting votes for John Dramani Mahama for president on ballot number 8. He warned that simply voting for the presidential candidate without also supporting the parliamentary candidate would not fully benefit the constituency. The MP made these remarks during the “retail campaign” visit of the NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah in the Naaga and Kologo community all the Navrongo Central Constituency. Economic Hardships Persist: Navrongo Central MP Disappointed with Budget Review

Sampson Tangombu Chiragia, Member of Parliament for Navrongo Central, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the mid-year budget review presented by Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam. Apexnewsgh reports In an exclusive interview with Apexnewsgh, Hon. Chiragia stated that the budget review failed to address the economic hardships faced by ordinary Ghanaians. He pointed the rising inflation rate, exchange rate fluctuations, and increasing cost of living as major concerns. “Things are becoming very difficult for Ghanaians,” he emphasized, citing the high prices of basic commodities like tomatoes, the struggle of market women, and the challenges faced by school children in affording food. Hon. Chiragia further criticized the Finance Minister for not presenting any measures to alleviate the economic difficulties in the remaining four months of the year. He pointed out that the rising cost of fertilizer, transportation, and other essential services is exacerbating the suffering of citizens, including farmers. In addition to his criticism of the mid-year budget review, Hon. Sampson Tangombu Chiragia, MP for Navrongo Central, has called for the removal of certain levies to alleviate the economic burden on citizens. He argued that the COVID-19 levy, which was introduced as an emergency measure, should be removed now that the pandemic has subsided. Furthermore, he advocated for the removal of the sanitation tax, also known as the “borla tax”, to provide some relief to Ghanaians. “Levies are for emergency purposes, and now that the emergency has passed, they should be removed,” he emphasized. Hon. Chiragia also criticized the government for not abolishing the E-levy, despite promises by Dr. Bawumia to do so when he comes to power. “He has the power to abolish it now, with President Nana Addo, so why wait?” he questioned. The MP expressed disappointment that the Finance Minister’s comparison of figures only went back to 2022, without considering the more recent data from 2023. This, he believes, presents an incomplete picture of the country’s economic situation. The MP’s comments reflect the growing concerns among Ghanaians about the government’s handling of the economy and its impact on their daily lives. NDC Primaries: Navrongo Central Constituency and what the outcome is likely to be after counting of ballot

The Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) will be going to the poll on May 13, 2023, for their internal flagbearership and parliamentary primaries. Apexnewsgh.com, as part of our usual public view seeking ahead of party elections in the Upper East region, has conducted extensive views and opinions from the people of the Navrongo Central Constituency regarding the National Democratic Party internal primaries Sampson Tangombu Chiragia: ‘Is a tax expert. Before becoming an MP, he was working at the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA). He is an auditor’. ‘He has been the Pilar or the cornerstone of Navrongo politics. He contested Mark Woyongo in the 2012 primaries and lost. He has been the party financier for long’. ‘Sampson has been consistent when it comes to loyalty, he has been very supportive of the party. Basically, this is the strength he has over other candidates’. ‘He has also organized some health outreach, bought motorbikes for the health directorate, renovate some schools, secure some furniture, and also bought computers, and math sets for BECE students’. ‘He is the one who has made the party attractive in Navrongo because those days, people were not interested to be known as part of NDC’. ‘When Kofi Adda came, a lot of people were afraid and no one could win Kofi Adda because Kofi Adda was having the people at heart and he was able to win the heart of Navrongo Central until Kofi Adda left the political scene that is when a lot of people are now beginning to show interest’. We gathered Simon Aworigo Akibange: Is the NDC UK Ireland Chapter Secretary. He has been assisting the party in certain ways. He adopted the party some time ago and was giving the party Ghc 400.00 every month. ‘Aside from that, he even bought laptop for the party and some other accessories that will help equipped the party office’. The contest is between Simon and Sampson. He has come with a different tribal Rambo style campaign because he is a Nankana by tribe. He is said is their time, according to those from Nankana’s speaking areas, they equally want to test the Parliamentary position as the people of Kessena have tested for long. No ‘Nankana’ person has become an MP in the history of Navrongo. So currently, the contest is between the Sampson faction and the Simon faction. Sampson is gaining some ground because of incumbency, if not that, it wouldn’t have been easy for Sampson. Because Sampson has not managed so many things well. A lot of people are not happy with the way he goes about doing things. Dr. Jacob Paarechuga Anankware;   “His contributions to the party are well-reorganized. He has been able to award brilliant but needy students in his constituency.  Dr. Jacob contested the current MP in 2018 and lost. This is his second contest together with the MP”. Lawyer Pius Ayemva Avio: Is a party member in good standing. But we also gathered that contribution-wise, they say, they cannot point what he has contributed to the party. However, in this contest, factionalism cannot be swept under the carpet as far as Navrongo is politics is concerned. Currently, they are able to get a Nankana person who is Simon Akibange. Remember, the 3 people contesting from the Navrongo area are coming from the Kessena-speaking area. They are telling delegates that this is the time to get their share of the Parliamentary seat. The people from Nankana speaking area are claiming their roads are deplorable and has not been given any attention because they have not gotten the opportunity to serve as MP in the history of Navrongo party politics. Our Prediction: We observed that the incumbent Sampson Tangombu Chiragia is facing a tough battle. We observed that the Nankana factor used by Simon Aworigo Akibange as a campaign message against the incumbent is becoming a very dangerous weapon causing much harm to the incumbent because delegates are buying into such ideology. We observed that votes from the Kassem-speaking area will be shared among the 3 candidates Sampson Tangombu Chiragia, Dr. Jacob Paarechuga Anankware, and Lawyer Pius Ayemva Avio. The signals we have received show that if the incumbent didn’t play his game perfectly well, Simon Aworigo Akibange might take that advantage.   However, upon all these signals and controversies, we are still confident the incumbent MP will emerge victorious at the end of the day with his only saviour being the power of incumbency. For the Flagbearership, John Dramani Mahama will get over 75.5 percent ahead of his other contenders Dr. Kwabena Duffour, a former Minister of Finance and Mr. Kojo Bonsu, a former Mayor of Kumasi will share the rest of the votes. Apexnewsgh.com is noted for its accurate predictions of local elections so far within the Upper East region. Please, these are views collated, the views expressed here were not our decision we engage those who matter. Our good wish goes to all candidates. We are not expecting anything better from Finance Minister– Navrongo MP

Member of Parliament for the Navrongo Central Mr. Sampson Tangombu Chiragia, said they are not expecting anything better from the Finance Minister Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta. The Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, will appear before Parliament today to lay before the House the Mid-Year Budget Review of the Economic Policy of the Government and Supplementary Estimates for the 2022 fiscal year. Today’s presentation, pursuant to the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921), will see the minister provide information on how revenue and expenditure had performed in the first half of the year, the country’s current budget deficit figures and projections for the next six months. Meanwhile, the MP for Navrongo Central has no hope for the yet-to-be Mid Year Budget. He said, “Because of where we are now, we are not expecting anything better from him apart from probably if they finalized their program with IMF”. Adding that, “We have got to a crossroads to go and look for a bailout somewhere. I am not even sure we have a budget now until we see what the IMF has for us”. The Navrongo MP thinks that Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta is coming back again to sing and only quote a Bible and probably talked about what he said in October last year. “We don’t trust him, whatever he says is a lie” He stressed Apexnewsgh.com/Ghana/Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen

John Mahama left strong economy for NPP and they recruited 125 ministers and now they can’t …Sampson Tangombu

The NDC Member of Parliament for Navrongo Central Mr. Sampson Tangombu Chiragia has said, it is obvious former President Dramani Mahama left a strong economy to NPP before leaving office because evidence shows, they were able to recruit One Hundred and Twenty Five (125) Ministers immediately took over from John Mahama. Apexnewsgh.com report According to the Navrongo legislator, “Today, the NPP and Dr. Bawumia are claiming the economy is recovering and they cannot even recruit Deputy Regional Minister which was the case in their first administration immediately John Mahama left office.  However, Mr. Sampson Tangombu called on the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to render an apology to Ghanaians because he got it wrong from the beginning by tagging John Dramani Mahama as ‘incompetent’ “I will sincerely task Dr. Bawumia to come and apologize to Ghanaians and let them understand that he got it wrong. Because today, he agrees that our economy is driven by external forces forgetting that we don’t sell dollars or print dollars in Ghana. But he used the dollar as the benchmark against John Mahama by way of calling Mahama {incompetent}” Responding to the Ukraine-Russia war which was captured by Dr. Bawumia’s lecture, the MP said: “Ukraine-Russian is barely 2months and you are using to build as your non-performance of the economy, forgetting that if the price of crude oil goes up, you are also benefiting”. The problem in Ghana today, is the exchange rate which we cannot control and the loan they are paying over 50 billion a year. Show Ghanaians one factory you built as a govt 5 years down the line–NDC MP challenges govt

The NDC Member of Parliament for Navrongo Central Mr. Sampson Tangombu Chiragia has challenged the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) to show Ghanaians one factory they built as a government 5 years down the line. Apexnewsgh.com report Speaking in an interview with ApexnewsGH on Friday, April 8, 2022, the Navrongo legislator threw the challenge whiles responding to some issues raised by Dr. Bawumia during his TESCON encounter on Thursday. “In Ghana today, let the NPP show us one factory they started as a new factory as a government of Ghana. They only came to support individual existing projects”. “Under the One Village One Factory (1V1F) policy, no single factory has been built by this government and they claimed they have been able to revamp about 130 factories and they don’t want to use the word revamp. Can you show me a factory the NPP built that has recruited over 300 people in Ghana 5 years down the line?”. In the Upper East Region, can they show us just one factory they have built for the region?”. Mr. Sampson Tangombu asked. Meanwhile, according to governing New Patriotic Party, the One District One Factory (1D1F) initiative is the vision of His Excellency the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to change the nature of Ghana’s economy from one which is dependent on import and export of raw material to one which is focused on manufacturing, value addition and export of processed goods. These raw materials are largely found in the districts which would have otherwise gone waste. The initiative as proposed by His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is private sector-led. Government creates the necessary conducive environment for the businesses to access funding from financial institutions and other support services from Government agencies to establish factories. Ghanaian entrepreneurs will thus own the companies, operate them and bear all the risks and rewards of the projects. However, since its launch on 25th August 2017, the people of the Upper East Region are yet to see even one of the old collapsed factories such as Pwalugu tomato factory, and the Meat factory at Zaurungu revamp. They are not up to the required 138 to guarantee them passing the e-levy”. He maintained “We staged a walkout because we know what this government wanted to do was a robbery. Is a robbery against the ordinary people of this country”. However, the Minority has filed a suit at the Supreme Court to prevent President Akufo-Addo from assenting to the bill. Trust NDC Minority Caucus, we will continue to vote against the E-levy–Navrongo MP to Ghanaians

NDC Member of Parliament (MP) for Navrongo Central Constituency Mr. Sampson Tangombu Chiragia has called on the Ghanaians to trust the NDC Minority Caucus in Parliament as far as voting against the E-levy is concerned. Apexnewsgh report The Member of Parliament made the call on Thursday, February 3, 2022, when speaking to Apexnewsgh.com Mr. Chiragia said: “We are saying that we are against E-levy. He is the President of Ghana, the people went to the polls and voted for him as the person they think he can manage for now. But what we are saying, is we the NDC minority are against the E-levy because the effect is directly on the poor and we as a social democratic party. They don’t think we should endorse what will have a direct effect on the poor and for that matter, we are against”. “And now, as long as they bring the bill to parliament and as long as we are there and they put it before us, we will only vote against the E-levy period”. He stressed “Now we don’t want to comment because we have told the people and now the people now know what the E-levy will do to them more than us. But, they are saying they will do it. So, the NDC minority caucus will continue to vote against the E-Levy. He maintained Meanwhile, he believes they in the NDC are not to be blamed but the government and President Akufo-Addo should because they were not able to mobilize 138 majorities as they claim. “Nana Addo should go and mobilized his 138 parliamentarians and come and pass E-levy, apart from that, is 137-137 nothing more nothing less. If Akufo-Addo is able to mobilize his 138, we will go by the constitution and passed the E-levy. We will continue to stand by the masses”. Mr. Chiragia was responding to President Pronouncement on E-levy when addressing traditional leaders from Dzodze in the Volta region on Tuesday, 1st February 2022. According to President Akufo-Addo, “Revenues during 2020/2021 went down considerably because of the slowing down of the economic activities that came from the COVID-19. At the same time, government, in order to keep the country going, did incur some expenditures on the free water, the free electricity. These were the unavoidable expenses that government had to make,”.
