Upper East Regional Airport: Johnson Ayine made more interesting and mindblowing revelations, about the delays…

It appears there are more hidden revelations regarding the delays bedeviling the success and reality of the construction of the controversial Upper East Regional Airport over the years. Apexnewsgh.com report According to a regional communication member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Johnson Ayine, the current location for the construction of the regional airport was as a result of a political decision and that is why after clearing off the commercial trees, it was difficult for them to do the work. Mr. Ayine made the revelation during an engagement on Apexnews Ghana’s flagship developmental programme dubbed “SPEAKOUT UPPER EAST REGION” with Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen on Wednesday, November 2, 2022. Making some references, Mr. Ayine said during Achampong’s time, his community Sherigu, Dachio, and some other places were identified as very suitable for the airport construction. He however insisted, it was a political decision to put the project where it is currently and that is why along the process, it was difficult for them to continue with the project. He further revealed, that during the CAN 2008 African Cup, Hon. Gloria Akufo was the Minister for Aviation under Kufour, she came here with a technical team and they wanted to work on the Sumbrungu airport so that some of the African countries will lodge in and use the airport to Tamale for the football. Mr. Ayine said, after going through, “the recommendation was that there was a rock underground and the place is also muddy”. He added; “Why the project is delaying, why we are not getting the project, is a political decision. The politician fears going to tell the people that it can’t work. Because the people will not forgive them. If they go and tell the people of Sumbrungu today that the place is not suitable, they will ask them why they came and destroyed their land and pulled commercial trees down. They have made investors to go there and bought lands. Is left for the politicians to tell them the truth, you mark it down today, the truth will come one day if God is only one God whether am alive or not”. He stressed “The way we are doing politics in this region is not helping us” “Do you think if NDC can go to Sumbrungu to tell the people of Sumbrungu that the place won’t be good for the airport? Do you think they will be able to win there again? The people are likely to come against them and because of what NDC did, the NPP too are not bold enough as we speak. That was why they were hunting Rockson Bukari because he was bold to tell them the truth and they were hunting him. Nobody will tell them the truth and the truth shall come”. He maintained Meanwhile, sharing a little idea of what was already planned should be in case the airport was located in Sherigu Community.“For our side, they were targeting the road. The plan was to cut a road to Pwalungu, so that when passengers are coming from the North East Region and Talensi area, they will not pass through Bolga and another road was cut to Kandiga, so that when they are coming from Navrongo and other places, they will pass through Kandiga without coming to Bolga and those that will be coming from Bawku enclave will pass through Bolga and come. Those were the plans” Johnson Ayine told Apexnewsgh.com Source: Apexnewsgh.com/Ghana For Publication, please kindly contact us on 0256336062 or Email: Apexnewsgh@gmail.com

UER-: BONABOTO Zone not united in terms of development”– Aneribazanga

“We the BONABOTO zone are not united in terms of development”. This is according to an angry resident from the BONABOTO zone Ibrahim Aneribazanga an NDC Communication Officer for the Bolgatanga East Constituency. Apexnewsgh.com report The NDC Communication Officer shared his opinion during an engagement on Apexnews Ghana’s flagship development programme dubbed “SPEAKOUT UPPER EAST REGION” with Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen on Monday, October 24, 2022. Meanwhile, pointing out issues of development bothering the region, he sighted the Upper East Regional airport brouhaha as one good example of disunity among people from the BONABOTA zone. “If this particular airport was supposed to be situated in the Western part of the Upper East, by this time it would have gotten the necessary attention. All leaders would have come in, they would have thrown away their parochial and self-interest and gathered to make sure the project is situated in their area. If it was situated in the Eastern part of the region, the Bawku side, they would have thrown away all their differences, their political differences, their interest differences and make sure that the airport is situated”. He stressed Mr. Aneribazanga who couldn’t hide his feelings when expressing his opinion says, he is disappointed with the posture exhibited by the people from the BONABOTO Zone toward the airport project. “In Upper East, we the BONABOTO zone and I mean Bolga, Nangodi, Bongo and Tongo, I must say I am disappointed. Because such is a very nice project, and you are playing with it in the name of Sumbrungu and sherigu. Is it that we want the project or we don’t want it? He asked He insisted that when the then Minister of Aviation the late Kofi Adda try pulling back the project to the Western part of the Upper East, they BONABOTO Zone were still there fighting between Sumbrungu and Sherigu. Stressing that “If all the BONABOTO zone have stood their ground and said it is Sumbrungu by this time we would have finished with the airport”. However, Mr. Aneribazanga said, it will be a waste of time to blame the NPP or NDC for their regrettable predicament on the airport drama, insisting that they must swallow the blame themselves because they have allowed politicians to play political football on them. “We have allowed ourselves to be played like a political football by politicians, I won’t blame the NPP or the NDC on this we must blame ourselves from the BONABOTO zone. I must say it. Because this is a project that is going to bring about development”. Dr. Clement Apaak rated Upper East Region 3 out of 10 in terms of development

The Member of Parliament for the Builsa South Constituency in the Upper East Region Dr. Clement Abas Apaak has rated the development of the region three (3) from a scale of 1 to 10. Apexnewsgh.com report Dr. Apaak gave the mind-blowing rating during an engagement on Apexnews Ghana’s flagship development programme dubbed “SPEAKOUT UPPER EAST REGION” with Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen on Friday, October 21, 2022. Expanding on his reason for the low rate he gave the region on a scale of 1 to 10, Dr. Apaak said, in the area of Agriculture, cropping, and animal husbandry, the potential in the region is so huge. But, the resources and the structures to allow the people of Upper East to take full comparative advantage that they have in the area of animal husbandry and farming in terms of crops are inadequate, the Builsa south legislature stressed Meanwhile, making reference to this year’s farming experience, Dr. Apaak said; “If you look at what happened this farming season, how our farmers had to struggle to acquire fertilizer and the fact that the high cost of input including plowing an acre of land impacted negatively in terms of the acreage, clearly we cannot be comfortable that the yield that we are expecting this year will be sufficient enough for us in the Upper East Region, let alone for us to be able to export the food item to acquire much-needed revenue to invest in other areas”. Dr. Apaak further explained that when he mentioned that the region hasn’t done well, he is also speaking about people as a nation and as a state. Pointing that our inability to provide the needed resources, support and the needed input at affordable prices allows for the farmers to take advantage so that they can increase their acreage to ensure maximum yields to feed themselves and their families and have a surplus to then sell and use that revenue for other needed responsibilities. He said there is no reason why the region shouldn’t do more than they are doing in the area of Agric.
