Today, Ghanaians buy before they get a job to do—Former NPP Regional Organizer

The former Upper East Regional Organizer and former Nabdam Constituency chairman for the governing New Patriotic Party, Mr. Yaw Mort has for the first time poured out his frustration in the ongoing happenings within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Apexnewsgh.com reports Mr. Mort who allegedly accused the leadership of the party of selling employment opportunities to vulnerable Ghanaians said the party has disappointed a lot of party members and more especially the foot soldiers. Speaking in an engagement with Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen of Apexewsgh.com on Monday, October 2, 2023, Mr. Mort said: “Some of us have the feeling that Hon. Alan did what he did out of pain and we were all having that pain in us but like I said, but upon certain thought we decided to let it be. People were lying that they sacked them because of Alan, they are liars. Some of them, we have national security reports about them, and we know why they were sacked, and I won’t mention names, but they know themselves. They shouldn’t dare people to come out and speak if they dare, it will not go well for all of us as a party and as individuals. So please, we should trade cautiously.” “I can confidently say the party has disappointed a lot of party members. I am a grassroots person as I sit here. If you go to the grounds and people are not happy, a lot are not happy but of course, it is their party, what will they do? So they are quiet. Silence is dangerous, if you see people not complaining, it is dangerous, you wouldn’t know what they are thinking and at the end of the day, they will do things that are so suicidal to the party”. “Currently, our regional chairman, I had talks with him and it was very cordial, he moves swiftly to say look, we are brothers, and we are in the same party and from the same constituency. So, is important to sit on the round table to resolve and cool down tempers to let things go normal. That is how we should be doing but if you think that you are in government and you have power forget it. Some are chopping and some are not chopping. But how many are happy? Only a few. The majority of the foot soldiers are not happy”. “Today, when they want a job they have to buy. People buy before they get a job to do. How many of the foot soldiers can get such money to buy? Police, fire, prisons, immigration, and what have you are all for sale and this is dangerous. In Kufuor’s era, I didn’t see this, maybe if they did in NDC I don’t know but this time, that is the order of the day which is not going well for this party. The party today is for the highest bidder. Is it supposed to be so? “Some of us are not happy with the way things are going. I have been at this party since 1992 although I was young then, I voted in 1992. A lot of guys into the party through me but today where am i? “People were told that look, if you don’t do what we want you to do, we will treat you like we have treated Yaw Mort, can’t you see we have silenced Yaw Mort and made him irrelevant in the party and I just laughed at them. If I am irrelevant in Nana Akufo-Addo’s government, the future government will come, and I will not be irrelevant if only there is life. Even if am irrelevant to NPP, I will never be irrelevant to my family and friends”. He stressed. Desist from things that will destroy your lives—Yaw Mort appeal to youth

Meanwhile, Mr. Mort acknowledged the poverty level in the region as the cause for the increasing youth involvement in smoking and drinking alcohol in the region. Insisting that such an attitude is not something that propels a region into prosperity. The former Regional Organizer for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Mr. Yaw Mort has extended his appeal to the youth in the Upper East Region to desist from destroying themselves with the dangerous intake of alcohol. Apexnewsgh.com report “I will appeal to our youth to desist from things that will destroy their lives especially alcoholism and another thing that is coming up in the system has to do with this energy drink that has come, it is something that is destroying lives and I think people don’t know about it. Our young ones always add certain drugs into them and when they drink it, it will ginger them to do things they ought not to be doing. I will appeal to the youth to see it that, those things are not good and they should desist from them”. He appealed to the youth to stop lavishing their lives unnecessarily and invest in wrestling and footballing because is another area the youth could channel their attention to as far as making huge money for themselves is concerned. “I will also appeal to our youth to develop an interest in sporting activities. Because, if they are involved in sporting activity, they would see that they will not like all these smoking and alcoholism because when the heart is active, the appetite of smoking and drinking alcohol will not come”. He appealed “Youth in the region should get themselves something doing, they should not relent at all. They should involve themselves such as boxing, wrestling, and footballing to keep themselves going”. He advised Also, talking about the health benefit, Mr. Mort reveals that young men who are engaged in sporting activities hardly fall sick of high BP or any other minor sicknesses. However, he also appeals to the people of the Upper East Region to make sure they avoid anything that will cause fire outbreaks, especially during the season of harmattan.
