The Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) made it clear that they have not yet received any formal communication from the Office of the Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations regarding the ongoing discussion about reviewing prophecies with national significance.
This statement comes in the wake of several viral videos circulating on social media after the tragic helicopter crash on August 6, which claimed the lives of eight individuals, including two cabinet ministers. In these videos, several self-proclaimed prophets asserted that they had foreseen the incident and had issued dire warnings that were ultimately unheeded.
On August 10, the Office of the Presidential Envoy responded to the situation by encouraging religious leaders to formally present any prophecies or spiritual insights they might have regarding high-profile political figures, governance matters, national security, or public stability.
Apostle Immanuel Tettey, the General Secretary of GPCC, spoke with Citi News on the same day, emphasizing that the Council would take appropriate action once the proposed directive was officially communicated in writing. “GPCC normally will not have such controversial prophecies in the public domain. We have consulted with our member churches and leaders. If we receive a written request, we will seek clarification from the Office and determine the best way forward,” he stated.
As the situation unfolds, the GPCC remains committed to addressing these serious matters with careful consideration and clarity.
