For the information of the Upper East Regional Ghana Police Service, the people of Bongo-Beo community in the Bongo District of the Upper East Region have lamented over the growing trend of robbery in their community in recent times.

According to the Assemblyman of the area Emmanuel Akologo who spoke to Apexnewsgh.com, community members now fear for their lives because they can no longer move freely due to the activities of the unknown armed robbers in the area, as they demand for a Police station or a Police check point in the area.

Bongo-Beo shares boundaries with Bolga East and Nabdam district respectively.

However, there is bush that links up with Tili and Zebila in the Bawku West district.

Explaining the growing ordeal, the Assemblyman said: “Late 2021 and early 2022, we were not enjoying the New Year and Christmas. On the 27th of December, around 7 to 8 pm one of our brother’s motorbike was robbed within the community just closer to our community market called Kayonga market and on the 30th of December, one guy motor was also robbed near the market again. On the 5th of January, they also robbed a shop owner inside the Kayonga market and picked his motorbike again and after that, they entered into another shop and people left their goods and ran, they destroyed the goods and left. And when they were going, they were giving warned shots and unfortunately, someone stood near the place and the bullet touched the person. But the wound wasn’t that much. In fact, these days it is so terrible. He lamented

According to the Assemblyman of the Bongo-Beo electoral area, he has since informed the police in the area about the growing development.

Asking what the community people of Bongo-Beo are doing to protect their community from the recent increasing robbery activity? The Assemblyman said: “We are liaising with the police to set up a community watch guide to help”

However, when this platform rang the District Chief Executive (DCE) Ms. Rita Atanga to find out whether the disturbing development has come to her attention as the District Security Council (DISEC) Chairman in charge of the district, she insisted we come to her office before she will confirm whether or not the information has come to her attention.
