The President Ghana Bar Association (GBA) in the Upper East Region, Amoak Afoko, has made a request to the appropriate authorities to consider establishing a law school in the Upper East Region.
He made the special appeal during his welcome address at the ongoing Ghana Bar Association’s Annual General Conference held in Bolgatanga of the Upper East Region on Monday, September 13, 2021.
Meanwhile, highlighting the key institutions in the region, Mr. Afoko stated that “Clearly missing in all these educational institutes is an institution that trains lawyers and we will humbly appeal to authorities that be; to consider seriously the establishment of the Ghana law school in the region.”
He added that, when the law school is established, it will help reduce the plight of the increasing number of people from the northern part of the country who have to travel far distances to the southern part of the country to acquire law education.
However, the Theme for this year’s conference is “Ensuring an increase in revenue mobilization for the purpose of National development through taxation; the role of the lawyer.”
