Recently elected executives of the Ghana Journalists Association in the Upper East Region have been sworn in by the Upper East Regional Supervising High Court Judge, Justice Charles Adjei Wilson, yesterday, Thursday, June 30, 2022 at the Bolgatanga High Court.
William Nlanjerbor Jalulah, General Manager of A1 Radio, was sworn in as Upper East Regional Chairman for the GJA. Fatima Sandra Astanga-Anafu, a journalist with the Ghana News Agency, (GNA) was sworn in as Vice-Chairperson, while Albert Sore, the Upper East Regional Correspondent for the Multimedia Group was sworn in as the Regional Secretary for the GJA.
Joshua Asaah, News Editor at A1 Radio was also sworn in as the Treasurer of the Association.
4 other co-opted members were sworn into various positions.
Speaking to the media after the brief ceremony, the Regional Chairman of the GJA, Mr. Jalulah reiterated his promise to make the Association more attractive to journalists in the region.
“Over the years, the Association has not been so attractive to members or journalists. As a result of that, our number is not encouraging. Coming into office, we were aware of some of these things so we are looking at working towards making the Association attractive to journalists who otherwise are not members to join.”
He again reiterated his commitment towards finding an office space for the GJA in the region.
