UER: Gold miners attacked by armed robbers in Bolgatanga

Armed robbers have attacked and robbed miners in Tanzui a community in the Bolgatanga Municipality of the Upper East Region.

According to reports, the robbers numbering 2 reportedly besieged the miners at a mining processing mill near the Assemblies of God Church along the dual-carriage road and robbed them of a huge quantity of gold and some undisclosed amount of cash amount at a gunpoint.

According to accounts given by some of the victims, the perpetrators invaded the mills with 2 motorbikes after they had finished with the gold and ordered them to hand over the mineral to them as they fire gunshots, before proceeding to the prospective buyer and robbed him of an undisclosed amount of money meant for purchasing the gold and sped off with their motorbikes.

Though, the miners believe the armed robbers might have gotten a hint of their operations on that day through an insider.

For over a period now, armed robbery cases in the Upper East Region are increasingly going out of hand as residents in the regional capital and beyond fear for their lives.

However, the robbery incident happened on Tuesday, March 9, 2021
