Fabio Gama scores in Asante Kotoko drubbing of Bechem United
Fabio Gama put up a man of the match performance on Wednesday to help Asante Kotoko cruise to a 4-0 win over Bechem United in a Ghana Premier League match day 16 outstanding game at the Obuasi Len Clay stadium. The Brazilian set up the first goal and scored the second before showing class in one of his brilliant outings since he signed for the former champions. Gama combined effectively with Augustine Okrah, Ibrahim Moro and Andy Kumi in the larger part of the game by rewarding the technical team for keeping faith in him. With eight minutes of the game remaining, Vinicius Silva capped his Kotoko debut with a goal as he pounced on a rebound to tap home. This win has lifted Kotoko to third in the standings with 31 points, two points behind leaders Great Olympics and one adrift second placed Karela United. Akonnor names squad for final round of Afcon qualifiers
Black Stars Head Coach C. K Akonnor has named a 29-man squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe. The team is a mixture of home-based and others who play abroad. Coach Akonnor who has been training with home-based players in Accra for the past four weeks has settled on Nine of those players for the two crucial games. GFA signs partnership agreement with Qatar Football Association
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Qatar Football Association (QFA) have signed a five-year cooperation agreement. KP Boateng makes fresh revelation about Black Stars
Ghana midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng feels elated to have opted to represent Ghana at international level. The Monza SC star switched nationality to represent Ghana in 2010 having played for Germany at Youth level. Boateng appeared at his first World Cup with the Black Stars in 2010 and went on to play in the 2014 edition. Ghana Premier league side Legon cities have officially unveiled Nigerien forward Victorien Adebayor. Adebayor, a former Inter Allies player completed a loan move to the Royals months after moving to Danish club HB Koge after failing to settle at the club. South African businessman Patrice Motsepe has been elected the new President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). Akufo Addo announced $10,000 for each Black Satellites players for winning U-20 AFCON
President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced a $10,000 reward package to each member of the national U-20 team for winning the recently ended Africa Youth Championship in Mauritania. He however was quick to add that half of the money to the players will be in cash while the remaining half will be put into an investment for the players. The President made the announcement when the team paid a courtesy call on him and to present the trophy they won to him at the seat of government this evening. The President also acknowledge the role of the technical team and announced that the coaches will each receive $5,000 for the efforts in helping Ghana clinch the title. GPL: Elmina Sharks beat lackluster Asante Kotoko
Kumasi Asante Kotoko lost their first game on the road this season in the Ghana Premier League against struggling Elmina Sharks at the Paa Kwasi Nduom Stadium. The porcupine warriors who have been stricken by injury worries rang changes to their squad as Wahab Adams and Mudasiru Salifu were handed starts. The game started brightly as both teams had chances to have opened the scores of the game but they wasted the opportunities that came their way. Kwame Opoku shot goalwards after beating the Sharks goalkeeper but his goal bound effort was cleared off the line by his defense. Elmina Sharks had all the chances but wasted them and had about three penalty appeals waved away by the center referee. When the second half began, they made their dominance count as Alhaji Mustapha ghosted past left back Imoro Ibrahim before slotting home in the 55th minute to open the scores. Kotoko pressed for the elusive equalizer which never arrived as they wasted opportunities which came their way. It was the first game for former Ghana and Kotoko player Nii Odartey Lamptey who was appointed interim coach of the club last week after Sharks dissolved their technical team.
