The Diasporan and International Relations Manager of Asante Kotoko, Akosua Dentaa Amoateng has promised defeat for Mauritanian side FC Nouadhibou when they visit Ghana next week. The Porcupine Warriors held the Mauritanian champions to a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary stage clash. Kevin-Boateng joined Barcelona from Sassuolo in January, 2019 to strengthen the Catalans after Louis Suarez had picked up an injury. During his stint at Spurs between 2007 and 2009 in particular, Boateng said he looked to off-field extravagances to cover up for his on-field issues. “When I was young, at Tottenham, it’s true: I bought three luxury cars in one day, but there was so much pain inside me,” he said. “I was trying to buy happiness. I wasn’t happy. I wasn’t playing. I wasn’t well and so I was looking for something else. Sure, I would change that part of my past. “Often, I trusted only my talent and, with the talent I have, without being arrogant, I could have done a lot more. Although, I have had a beautiful career anyway.” In the latter part of his career, Boateng has also focused on off-field activism, speaking out frequently against racism. Despite a host of ugly incidents across Europe recently, Boateng said that he has yet to see nearly enough change. “In football, nothing has changed since 2013,” Boateng said. “Maybe a few more fines, but nothing has changed. It’s sad. It still happens. And it happens too much. “Change comes from FIFA and UEFA. NDC to build ultramodern sports stadium in Bolgatanga
Mr John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential Candidate, has assured the chiefs and people of the Upper East Region that he will build an ultramodern sports stadium in Bolgatanga to promote sports. He said the next NDC government would build regional sports stadia across every region without a stadium to promote sports and wellness. Mr Mahama made the pledge on Wednesday at a community engagement with the chiefs and people of Talensi in the Upper East Region as part of his four-day campaign tour. He noted that apart from the regional sports Stadiums, mini modern sports stadia would be built in all districts to harness the sporting potentials of the youth. He said the sports potentials of the youth would be harnessed from the district to regional, national and international levels. Mr Mahama reiterated the need to harness the youth’s sporting potentials to create jobs for them. The next NDC government would provide opportunities for the youth to acquire free technical and vocational skills to enable them to go into entrepreneurship, he said. It would also implement a free National Apprenticeship Programme by establishing centres in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions in the districts to provide free apprenticeship training by certified master craftsmen/women.
