There is a political leader who is quick to block ‘disagreeable’ followers on his social media handles and yet always the first to condemn others on World Press Freedom Day, Gabby Asare Otchere Darko, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said. In a tweet to mark the World Press Freedom Day celebration on Monday May 3, the Publisher of the Daily Statesmen said “There is a political leader who is quick to block ‘disagreeable’ followers on his social media handles and yet always the first to condemn others on World Press Freedom Day. Enjoy Social Media Freedom Day 2021!” Meanwhile Former President John Dramani Mahama has charged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to create an environment that is devoid of intimidation for the media. Mr Mahama said this to mark the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day celebration. In a Facebook post, Mr Mahama said “I want to encourage President Nana Akufo-Addo and his close associates to seize the occasion to create an atmosphere that is more tolerant of criticism and devoid of intimidation in order for the media, CSOs and individuals to freely express themselves and contribute to national discourse. #WorldPressFreedomDay.” 3 May acts as a reminder to governments of the need to respect their commitment to press freedom and is also a day of reflection among media professionals about issues of press freedom and professional ethics. Just as importantly, World Press Freedom Day is a day of support for media which are targets for the restraint, or abolition, of press freedom. It is also a day of remembrance for those journalists who lost their lives in the pursuit of a story. Every year, 3 May is a date which celebrates the fundamental principles of press freedom, to evaluate press freedom around the world, to defend the media from attacks on their independence and to pay tribute to journalists who have lost their lives in the exercise of their profession. World Press Freedom Day was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 1993 following a Recommendation adopted at the twenty-sixth session of UNESCO’s General Conference in 1991. This in turn was a response to a call by African journalists who in 1991 produced the landmark Windhoek Declaration(link is external) on media pluralism and independence. 3news Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. Hail Akufo-Addo, embrace burden-sharing concept – Otchere-Darko
Danquah Institute founder Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko has called on Ghanaians to hail his cousin, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his economic management team, for steering the country’s economy through extraordinary difficulties in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. According to Mr Otchere-Darko, Ghanaians must embrace the burden-sharing concept of 2021 to reap together the benefits of defeating covid-19. Mr Otchere-Darko said these in a post on Facebook. It read: “We must hail President Akufo-Addo and his economic management team for steering Ghana’s economy through the extraordinary difficulties of 2020. Let’s embrace the burden-sharing concept of 2021 to reap together the benefits of defeating covid-19 and boosting growth, as we transform the economy. The investor confidence is back. Let’s ride with it.” It is recalled that Finance Minister-designate Ken Ofori-Atta urged Ghanaians to share the government’s burden by accepting the new tax obligations presented in the 2021 budget. Appearing before Parliament’s Appointments Committee to be vetted on Thursday, 25 March 2021, Mr Ofori-Atta stated that the new taxes imposed will help the economy to grow. Describing the new taxes as a “battle-cry”, he said: “We need to move forward. We need to burden-share”, adding: “We need to create a society that we can also share the opportunities as we grow”. He further commended the government for its efforts at ensuring economic resilience even in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. “If you look at what the Akufo-Addo government has been able to do between 2017 and 2020, it is phenomenal”, he praised. “If we had not built up the resilience, I think COVID would have devastated us beyond what we are seeing”, Mr Ofori-Atta argued. “So, we move forward together. We bring these new revenue measures in place…” he added. Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. Contact: 0555568093
New taxes: You’re not paying Covid debt – Gabby to Ghanaians
A cousin to the President Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko has waded into the ongoing conversation surrounding the controversial new taxes captured in the 2021 budget. According to him, the government did not seek to share the burden of Covid-19 amongst the populace. He also refuted claims that Ghanaians were deceived by the free water and electricity provided last year. Government is introducing a Covid-19 levy, financial sector cleanup levy, and two others as part of measures to shore up revenue. The proposed levy will become a one percentage point increase on both the existing VAT flat rate and a National Health Insurance Scheme. Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah had earlier responded to concerns on the proposed new taxes, explaining that the burden brought about by the pandemic had to be shared by all. He said, “so we cannot escape the fact that we have to share the burden at this point in time.” But Gabby via a Facebook post said “the Government is not asking you to pay for the cost of Covid-19 last year. No! That cost led to the huge fiscal burden which we do not want repeated this year.” He noted that “the task this year is two-fold: to defeat the virus, and rebuild the economy for businesses to thrive to create jobs and put cash in the pockets of workers.” “The 2021 budget is not asking you to pay for the cost of 2020. You are being asked to help share the burden of the existing Covid-19 costs, including vaccines for over 20 million Ghanaians.” He added “Remember there is an equally important cost of reviving the economy through the cost of stimulus packages. Deceit is when a government pretends there is no cost to anything and uses your taxes not for the greater public good. As taxpayers, we must all consider ourselves as partners in bringing our national economy back to life even as Government continues to invest your money to save lives.” Starrfm Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. “What Koraaa Is The Issue With Mr Tsikata? – Gabby Otchere Darko Questioned
The Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected the application to inspect six (6) documents of the Electoral Commission(EC) an application filed by the 2020 presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama. The legal team of John Mahama is asking for six documents including the originals of the constituency presidential election result collation forms (form 9) for all constituencies, the originals of all constituency presidential election results summary sheet (form 10) and the originals of the regional presidential election collation forms (form 11) for all regions. They are also asking for the originals of the regional presidential election results summary sheets (form 12) for all regions and the original of the declaration of the presidential results form (form 13) as well as the records of the alleged update to the purported declaration of presidential election results on 9th December 2020, of the results of four (4) constituencies in the Greater Accra Region. In reaction to this, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gabby Otchere Darko queried: “what really is the issue” “The so-called Form 13 (Declaration of Presidential Results Form) is already filed as Exhibit 4 and attached to witness statement of Jean Mensa. There’s only one Form 13 used and only one in dispute and the EC has filed it. So, what really is the issue, Mr Tsikata? What koraaa?” he tweeted Lead counsel for Mr. Mahama, Tsatsu Tsikata said: “these are plain circumstances which necessitate a reference back to the original documents which are in the custody of the first respondent (EC) so that there could be a proper validation of what the correct figure is,” he said. A very big politician will be on trial this year– Gabby Otchere-Darko
Prophecies in Ghana is becoming so bad of late due to the nature of prophecies coming out from these self-acclaim pastors and prophets with most of the prophecies being so disastrous . However, one of the most controversial politician and a leading member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Gabby Asare Otchere- Darko in a post-Apexnewsgh.com sighted a list of his top 12 prophecies for 2020. How his prophecies are going to materialize wasn’t revealed in his 12 prophecies though, but, he categorically mentioned in his NO: 10 listed prophecy, that a very big politician will be on trial this year In the post he wrote: “Me too, I can prophesy. Here are my top 12 for 2021: There will be a big leadership fight over control of the NDC, with a faction even calling for Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings to rejoin. There will be some really annoying leadership skirmishes within the NPP. There will be a major minerals discovery in Ghana. Bigger than Jubilee. Tensions between Russia and the USA will heighten, with Putin and Biden at loggerheads. A big politician will be caught in a major sex scandal. Donald Trump will face prosecution. A major drawn out drama will unfold at Ghana’s Parliament on the night of January 6. One that will keep the entire nation awake all night; a drama like never before. There will be by-elections this year. Arsenal will end the season in top 4 of the EPL. A very big politician will be on trial this year. A very big African statesman will be buried in January. The Supreme Court will rule that the petitioner could not provide any material evidence, in terms of actual numbers, to justify the run-off he is seeking against either Jean Mensa or Akufo-Addo. PS: None of the above has been revealed to me for you to pray over them for redemption. Sorry, if I disappointed you by not adding any deaths. That is too cheap and, in fact, evil. Well, at least, I came close with No. 11 and that one was very easy.” Apexnewsgh.com/Ghana/Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. There’ll be annoying leadership skirmishes in NPP – Gabby predicts
New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko set social media alight as he jokingly, among others, predicted the future of the governing party in 2021. Similar to how some Ghanaian pastors proffer contradictory prophecies, Mr Otchere-Darko in a Facebook post, Friday night, shared a list of events that could unfold in the New Year –including possible leadership crisis that will befall the governing party. Featured second on his list, he predicted: “There will be some really annoying leadership skirmishes within the NPP” and that got many talking as the quest to succeed President Akufo-Addo –who is serving his last term in office –gathers momentum on social media. Already there has been social media campaigns for some individuals including the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia who has been tipped by political watchers to succeed his boss when the party holds its presidential primaries in the coming years. Others include Trade Minister, Alan Kyerematen, Railways Minister Joe Ghartey amongst others. “None of the above has been revealed to me for you to pray over them for redemption,” Gabby jokingly wrote. “Sorry, if I disappointed you by not adding any deaths. That is too cheap and, in fact, evil. “Well, at least, I came close with No. 11 and that one was very easy,” he said as he appeared to refer to the upcoming funeral rites of ex-President Rawlings who died after a short illness last year. Below is his full post on Facebook: Me too, I can prophesy. Here are my top 12 for 2021: 1. Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko 2021 Welcome Letter to Mahama
Dear John Mahama, Akufo-Addo and the NPP did not file an election petition in 2012 to “remove all doubt…” Indeed, today, there are still several Ghanaians who still have doubts over the credibility of the 2012 presidential election and yet accepted the decision of the Supreme Court in that election petition. Their doubts were not removed by the court! Indeed, in such cases, you go to court to rather sow doubts and hope to reap from that. The NPP went to court then because they believed they had enough evidence, which they exhibited, to show that you, John Mahama, did not win in 2012 and that Akufo-Addo won. The final outcome was not so. They disagreed with it but accepted it. No leader worth his salt and no party worth its existence should get up to put their supporters on the streets to burn tyres and cause all manner of havoc, claiming you have won and you, the defeated candidate, saying the results were “fictitious”, only to turn up in court to say your mission is to remove all doubts. Incredible! It is reckless, irresponsible, unpatriotic and, in fact, selfish, for any statesman (a former president for that matter) to waste the time of an entire nation and its supreme court for the mere sake of hoping to “remove all doubt”. What doubt? Whose doubt? You have no doubt that you lost this election. You know it! If you are doubting you lost, please, deal with it at home! Pour yourself a drink and drown your sorrows away, for all we care! But do not waste our time and heighten the hopes of your loyal supporters hopelessly, merely because in your mind you have doubts. This is so upsetting! We entertain too much rubbish in this beautiful country of ours. *** Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko is a Former Director of the Danquah Institute and a staunch member of the New Patriotic Party.
