Mobile Money Limited handed over a 2-bedroom house worth over GHC 300,000.00 to Madam Rita Nhyiraba Tetteh

Mobile Money Limited has recognized the effort of Madam Nhyiraba Tetteh (lead Character of MTN MoMo advert. A.K.A Mensa Akaooo) at Dobro Nsumena. Madam Nhyiraba Tetteh on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, was handed over a 2 bedroom house by the Chief Executive Officer of Mobile Money Limited Mr. Eli Hini. Giving a little background on the introduction of Mobile Money into the system, Mr. Hini said: “Over a decade ago, we began the journey to create a convenient way of undertaking financial transactions with an electronic Money transfer system accessible via the mobile phone. We had a huge task of breaking down this service into very simple communication that will resonate with the masses and drive wide acceptance” According to him at a time, “…a script was developed by our advertising agency and a character was selected to live the script and that was wonderfully done by Madam Rita Nhyiraba Tetteh – the woman and voice behind “Me Nsa Aka ooooo” commercial”. “Madam Rita’s role and delivery as well the entire cast in MoMo’s first ever commercial played a significant role in appealing to the Ghanaian populace. From there, Madam Rita joined us across the length and breadth of the country as we created awareness about the MoMo service. Today, Madam Rita’s efforts as well as those of several others who believed in the opportunities MoMo presented at the time have yielded positive results”. He acknowledged He said, the impact and success stories have been telling – offering mobile financial services to the banked and unbanked, and creating job opportunities for millions of Ghanaians. Across Africa, Ghana has emerged as one of the shining examples of using mobile money innovation to drive a cash-lite society while enhancing financial inclusion across all levels of the economy. Today, many people within the informal sector who were left out of the financial ecosystem are all playing active roles in Ghana’s financial ecosystem through the mobile money intervention. “In view of the success chalked over the years, Mobile Money decided to honor all stakeholders who played very critical roles in the MoMo journey during our 10th Anniversary celebrations. At special stakeholders’ awards night, plagues and certificates of honor were presented to all stakeholders. However, we chose to handle Madam Rita’s contribution differently by engaging her to find out what will be most precious to her, and she told us she needed a permanent place of abode”. The CEO explained Mobile Money Limited decided to honor the request after she sent us the plan of the type of facility she wanted. Today, we are happy to honor our promise and present this 2-bedroom house worth over GHC 300,000.00 to Madam Rita Nhyiraba Tetteh. On behalf of Mobile Money Limited, MTN Ghana, and the rest of the MTN Group, we would like to thank you, Madam Rita, for lending us your image and voice on this successful journey. This is to recognize you and make you feel a part of our success story.! God bless you. As I conclude I would urge Madam Rita to take good care of the facility and observe a good maintenance culture that will preserve the facility for a long time. I would also like to also to encourage all our partners and stakeholders to remain resolute and loyal to the MoMo brand because we appreciate the critical roles you play in our business. Tomorrow, when the history and success story of Mobile Money Limited is being written, none of you, our partners, and stakeholders will be left out. Thank you all for your support and thank you for joining us this morning to celebrate Madam Rita. However, after receiving the building donation from Mobile Money Limited, Madam Tetteh expressed extremely excited about the kind gesture done to her by the Management of Mobile Money. MTN Ghana foundation contributes a total of 10m to support government’s fight against COVID-19

MTN Ghana Foundation has donated GHC5Million to National COVID Trust Fund to support government’s effort in combating Corona Virus pandemic in the country. This presentation brings MTN’s total contribution to the National COVID Trust Fund to Ghc10 million. Speaking at a ceremony to present the cheque to Trustees of the Fund at the Jubilee House, the CEO of MTN Ghana, Mr. Selorm Adadevoh expressed his gladness at the opportunity given to MTN to demonstrate its commitment to the people of Ghana by supporting the Trust Fund in their fight against COVID-19.  He said, “Our support to the Trust Fund is to ensure the Government’s strategy in combating the pandemic is fully achieved”. “We believe this will help immensely to provide the needed PPES, education and other services for the people of Ghana and most importantly to brighten lives as we celebrate our 25th Anniversary”, he added. Receiving the cheque on behalf of the Trustees of the National COVID Trust Fund, the chairperson of the Fund, Justice Sophia Akuffo, said, “The contributions have dwindled over the past year. I’m happy that MTN Ghana has come through. MTN Ghana has been a key supporter of the COVID Trust Fund and has contributed a total sum of 10 million Ghana cedis. It is one of the few organizations to have contributed this much to support the fight against COVID-19 in Ghana. We are truly grateful for their assistance.” She added that, “There seems to be this false notion among the public that the pandemic is gone. The fact is the extent of the pandemic has been quite devastating and continues to cause death. There seems to be evidence of a new variant developing. We continue to encourage the Ghanaian citizenry to continue to adhere to all the COVID-19 protocols. We also strongly encourage that they get vaccinated. We are grateful to MTN and hope other organizations will follow their example as we all work to fight his deadly virus.” The donation to the National COVID-19 Trust Fund is one of the many interventions by MTN Ghana to help stem the COVID 19 pandemic. At the time when the nation was highly in need of PPEs, test kits and PCR Machines in 2020, the MTN Ghana Foundation donated 44,000 Personal Protective Equipment, four (4) Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) Machines and Test Kits to the National COVID Trust at the cost of GHS 5 Million. The donation was to help the National COVID Trust Fund enhance the protection of all health personnel in the fight against COVID -19 in the Country. Some of the other key interventions include: Collaboration with the National Information Technology Authority (NITA) to offer all Government workers free access to the Smart Workplace Portal to support Government’s work from home program and protecting the customer through the provision of critical health information. Other interventions were the provision of free internet access to over 200 websites for online education for public and private institutions and free MoMo transfers up to Ghc100 a day and revision of MoMo wallet limits. MTN Ghana supported the infection monitoring and contact tracing team through the provision of 800 SIM Cards and 8 Terabytes of data to National Security and 10 TurboNet fixed wireless devices with over 2 terabytes of data to the COVID-19 Response Team for use by contact tracers. MTN has also deployed mobile money merchant accounts as collection conduits to support Government institutions such as the Ministry of Finance and the First Lady’s mobilization fund for COVID-19. MTN Ghana also contributed three educational campaigns aimed at getting people to live responsibly. “Be Wise”,  Wear it for me” and “One More Push” campaigns were to encourage people across the continent not to give up in the fight against COVID-19, and to continue to wear their masks, wash their hands and practice social distancing. On the vaccination front, MTN Group donated USD$25million to support AU’s vaccination rollout across 55 member states to cover 7 million vaccine doses for health workers. MTN Ghana Foundation will continue to support efforts aimed at mitigating the impact of COVID -19 in Ghana. MTN Ghana Injects GH¢5 million Into COVID-19 Fight

MTN Ghana has taken another giant step by donating five million Ghana Cedis (GH¢5,000,000) to the  National COVID Trust Fund to help complement the government’s fight against the pandemic. This donation is in addition to an earlier donation of five million Ghana Cedis (GH¢5,000,000) worth of PPE and Testing Accessories presented to the Trust Fund last year. Speaking at the handing over ceremony in Accra, the Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana Mr. Selorm Adadevoh, said as a company they are committed to the socio-economic development of Ghana. “We are honored to have been able to complement the Government’s efforts in managing the pandemic through the donation of 5 million Cedis worth of PPEs and testing equipment to the country,” he stated. This he said, since the outbreak of the virus, the company has supported Ghanaians with many interventions to lessen the impact of the pandemic on the nation’s socio-economic infrastructure. One of the key things which we needed to address was to boost our Network to support work from home, online school, entertainment, and other digital activities. Our aim then and now is to help ensure continuity of life, business, and wellbeing. We are proud to have also contributed to three educational campaigns aimed at getting people to live responsibly. Our “Be Wise”, Wear it for me” and “One More Push” campaigns were to encourage people across the continent to not give up in the fight against COVID-19, and to continue to wear their masks, wash their hands and practice social distancing. According to him, on the vaccination front, MTN Group donated $25million to support AU’s vaccination rollout across 55 member states to cover 7 million vaccine doses for health workers. “Having acknowledged that we have all collectively played our roles in this fight against COVID-19, MTN Ghana and its Foundation have approved an additional GHc5m to be presented to National COVID Trust Fund. It is to ensure the Government’s strategy in combating the pandemic is fully achieved. This presentation brings MTN’s total contribution to the National COVID Trust Fund to GhS10m. We believe this will help immensely to provide the needed PPEs for the people of Ghana and most importantly brighten lives as we celebrate our 25th anniversary,” he added. He also used the occasion to congratulate the President, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and the Government for taking the needed measures in managing the spread of the disease in the Country. The Chairperson of the COVID -19 National Trust Funds, Her Ladyship Justice (RTD) Sophia A.B. Akuffo who received the cheque on behalf of the COVID -19 National Trust Funds commended MTN Ghana for embarking on such benevolence exercise; adding that the contribution has come at the right time. “Since the contribution to the Trust Fund have dwindled and almost halted.  This was a result of the general perception that, the COVID-19 pandemic is either no more with us or is a pandemic for others to combat,” she disclosed. Stressing that, there is the need for collaborative efforts on the parts of all stakeholders to effectively help fight the pandemic. “We also need to support the promotion of research on the Coronavirus, its different variants the behaviour patterns, as well as the potency and efficacy of the various approved vaccines, especially the research on post-vaccination. For example the COVID-19 Specific Antibody Response in Vaccinated Persons in the Country, which has already been started by the  Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR), of the University of Ghana, Legon. This she said, the Trust Fund has also established a collaborative partnership with the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) to jointly implement a Road Safety and Coronavirus education campaign. According to her, the campaign seeks to educate drivers, passengers, pedestrians, and other road users on the need to be careful on the roads especially during the Christmas period. “Since Christmas is also a spike period of the Coronavirus pandemic, due to the increase in trade and commerce, as well as the increase in the movement of people, goods, and services. It is therefore imperative to include COVID-19 education and information sensitization with that of the road safety education campaign.   All these require substantial financial and other logistical resources,” she disclosed. She, therefore, urged the general public to continue to adhere to the prevention and safety protocols in order to avoid the spread of the virus. —newsghana Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications.
