UER: Police will not countenance persons that are bent on ……- Regional Police Commander

The Regional Police Commander, DCOP disclosed that his office is adequately prepared for any eventuality and ultimately poised to safeguarding the relative peace in the region as some number of police personnel together with the military had been deployed to man the various polling centers across the region. Speaking in an interview, he encouraged the public to come out freely on the day of the election and exercise their franchise adding the police will not countenance or tolerate persons that are bent on fomenting trouble or indulge in acts that have the potency to jeopardize the relative peace being enjoyed in the region. The Upper Regional Police Command says recent agitations by some members of the opposition NDC over the safety of voter materials had been duly resolved and were currently under its protection. The Upper East Regional Police Command on Friday, November 20, 2020, took delivery of voter materials meant for both presidential and parliamentary elections in the upcoming December 7 elections. Upon its arrival, some party agents of the NDC who were present at the time impressed on the police to lock the Joint Operation Centre, where the materials were being kept with a padlock. Although the police assured them of its total safety, they declined and insisted the place be locked with their padlocks aside from that of the police. They also threatened to spend the night there till they are convinced that the materials are safe and not tampered with. This generated heated verbal exchanges between the agents and the police. In the heat of the confrontation, some persons believed to be supporters of the NDC and numbering about a hundred massed up at the center to express their displeasure about the position of the police. It took the intervention of some NDC party bigwigs including the former Defence Minister, Mark Woyongo to calm down nerves. The Regional Police Commander, issues surrounding the unfortunate incident had been duly resolved and urging them to discard any media reportage that goes to suggest that there was tension in the region. DCOP Kwaku Ampofo-Duku allayed the fears of the public following some media reports that seem to suggest that there was tension in the region adding adequate measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of the materials Apexnewsgh.com/ Ghana/ Prosper Adankai Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications

A resident of Ternguanya, a farming community near Klo-Agogo in the Upper Manya Krobo Constituency of the Eastern Region is wanted by the Police for pulling a gun at the Member of Parliament for the area. The incident occurred Wednesday, November 25, 2020 when the NPP MP Joseph Tetteh and his entourage including Engineers went to the Ternguanya community to fix streetlights. The suspect Felix Teye alleged to be sympathizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party accused the NPP MP of only visiting the community for votes. While fixing the streetlights, the suspect who was reportedly sitting on a motorbike together with a pillion rider in a tirade of accusations threatened the MP and his entourage to leave the community accusing him of deceiving them for votes. He reportedly went ahead to incite the residents to sack the MP and his entourage. While the MP and his entourage were leaving the community at about 3:30 pm, the suspect was spotted at Sonwer, a nearby community holding locally manufactured single barrel gun which upon seeing the MP’s Vehicle allegedly pointed the gun at it. The bodyguard of the MP, identified as John Ampofo, according to reports, tactically got down from the vehicle, overpowered the suspect and seized the gun with registration number ASAT 449989 which was empty. The Assembly Member for the Terguanya electoral area David Terkpetey told Starr News, the suspect was beaten mercilessly by some members of the MP’s entourage till he fell unconscious. UG survey predicting victory for Akufo-Addo fake – ASEPA

The Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA) has slammed the University of Ghana’s Political Science department for a recent survey which has predicted a one-touch victory for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. According to the University, 51.7% of Ghanaians say they will vote for Akufo-Addo. It also stated that 40.4% of Ghanaians say they will vote for John Dramani Mahama whilst 1.4% say they will vote for Ghana Union Movement (GUM). Out of over 11,000 across the country, 52% of respondents say they will retain their Members of Parliament. The researchers say 80% of the respondents said they will vote based on the campaign message. But ASEPA in its statement said the survey released is fake. “Earlier this month, a Facebook post by one Edudzi Tamakloe suggesting that the Department has conducted some polls and was shelving it was brought to the attention of the department. “The department agreed to issue a rebuttal or disclaimer which was drafted. The disclaimer was given to the Head of Department to issue on behalf of the department. The Disclaimer stated categorically that the Department has NOT conducted any polls this year. “The Head of Department failed to publish this rebuttal which had been agreed upon by the entire members of the Department and the letter drafted was on the 1st of November,2020. “Only for the same head of department who had written and signed those rebuttals to on the 24th November issue an invitation to members of the department that a survey has been conducted on the 2020 elections and they are invited to participate in the dissemination of the information.” Read the full statement by ASEPA below. Press Statement by ASEPA on the Fake University of Ghana Polls by the Political Science Department- ASEPA Calls for Disciplinary Action Against Lecturers Publishing Fake Polls in the Name of UG ASEPA EXPOSES UNIVERSITY OF GHANA ON FAKE POLLS We have called you here to demonstrate how some lecturers at the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana have connived to launch fake polls clearly aimed at influencing the outcome of the 2020 Elections. First of all, we want to State Categorically that the University of Ghana, Political Science Department has NOT conducted any polls on the 2020 elections. The polls being launched today is sole handiwork of one Dr. Owusu Mensah who has been contracted to publish a fake polls to hoodwink the public. Earlier this month, a Facebook post by one Edudzi Tamakloe suggesting that the Department has conducted some polls and was shelving it was brought to the attention of the department. The department agreed to issue a rebuttal or disclaimer which was drafted. The disclaimer was given to the Head of Department to issue on behalf of the department. The Disclaimer stated categorically that the Department has NOT conducted any polls this year. The Head of Department failed to publish this rebuttal which had been agreed upon by the entire members of the Department and the letter drafted was on the 1st of November,2020. Only for the same head of department who had written and signed those rebuttals to on the 24th November issue an invitation to members of the department that a survey has been conducted on the 2020 elections and they are invited to participate in the dissemination of the information. This situation has seriously angered a lot of the lecturers of the department who feel the name of the University and for that matter, the department was being used for personal gains! It is important to bring these issues currently happening at the Department of Political Science at the University of Ghana to the attention of the Media and for that matter the public because it borders on the integrity of the premier University of this country. That individual members of the university can initiate research activity in a private capacity and want to hang the results in the name of the university. Secondly, which serious academic institution would decide to publish a poll at this critical hour leading to a major election? We believe that these actions by Dr Owusu Mensah and the Head of Department of the Political Science Department cannot go unpunished for attempting to bring the name of the university into public ridicule. We demand that the University Disciplinary Committee Commences immediate investigations into this matter and sanction lecturers who may be found complicit in this brute attempt to defraud the public. We also preparing to petition the Criminal Investigations Department to launch criminal investigations into the matter since it is a classic case of Academic Fraud perpetuated by these lecturers. JUST IN: Over 300,000 People on NABCO Career pathways portal is a factor for slow system

The Director in charge of, Business Research and Skills Development at the Nation Builders Corps Head Office Mubarak Bowan in an exclusive interview has told Apexnewsgh.com that the career pathways portal produced for NABCO beneficiaries across the country wasn’t fast as expected because over 300,000 people who are not trainees were trying hard to log in to see if they have access to the system with different motives. “…you must understand that is not only trainees who are trying to log in, there are over 300,000 people who are not trainees who are trying to log in to see if they can have access to the system. The motive is that someone who has finish National Service is not on NABCO but have heard that there is this portal that leads to permanent jobs and they are trying to see, is there a way I can move in. Others have heard of it; they are not NABCO trainees but they want to see how it looks like. Some have heard that the way it is structured for you to create your profile and CV, is according to an international standard, so they want to see if they can use it to also build their own profile. So, that is the second group of people and then you have a third group of people who are just hackers and those ones are not only from Ghana. So, we have identified an attempt to log into the system from the U.K, USA, China, Russia, and from the Middle East.” He told Apexnewsgh.com However, he admonished those perpetuating such act including hackers to stop, to enable beneficiaries, go through the registration process successfully without facing all these load challenges due to their unfortunate actions and inactions. “…but it is very simple, once you don’t have the identifiable access, you will not be able to log in. So, the pressure will continue a bit and fissile out, because people who will realize that once am not a NABCO trainee I cannot log in will stop. As for the hackers, we deal with them on a daily basis.” He concluded Apexnewsgh.com/Ghana/Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications

It’s dangerous to think we’ve won- Info Minister

Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, over the weekend, admonished NPP campaigners not to think the 2020 election is an already done deal. Leading a street and House Campaign in Akyem Ayirebi in the Eastern Region, Mr. Nkrumah warned that the opposition NDC should not be underestimated in their ability to hoodwink Ghanaians in the last two weeks of the election. ”We have worked hard, but the most important thing now is to avoid complacency and ensure all-pro NPP registered voters cast their ballots correctly on Dec 7” he said. Distributing handbills and educating voters on how to vote, Mr. Nkrumah warned that any NPP member who assumes the election has been won already poses a danger to the cause of the party. ”We need to work hard because our future as a country depends on this election. All of us must work as though we were still in opposition. We must not stop knocking on doors, visiting shops and lorry stations until we secure a wide margin victory for Nana Addo and his MPs” he added. Electoral Materials Arrives Upper Region As Agents Of Political Parties Battle For Safety Location

Confusion erupted between political party agents in the Upper East Regional capital Bolgatanga on Friday, November 2020, upon the arrival of electoral materials for the December 7 elections. The misunderstanding came as a result of where to keep the electoral materials for safety ahead of the December 7 elections. But unfortunately, the party agents, especially agents of the two main political parties NDC / NPP and the Police all share different views on where the electoral materials will be kept for safety. Sadly, shortly after the electoral materials were brought into the Regional at the Regional Police Headquarters, party representatives of the various political parties were seen uncomfortable as they started registering displeasure following where the electoral material will be kept for safety ahead of the Parliamentary and Presidential December elections. Meanwhile earlier on, the police proposed a certain location but unfortunately, the opposition NDC were not in agreement as they rejected the proposal insisting that the electoral material should be kept at the usual place inside a room by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) building for sleeping dogs to lie, and that proposal by the opposition NDC was accepted by all the stakeholders. However, after the agreement by all stakeholders, they all examined the electoral materials which enable them to take a record of the serial numbers printed on the ballot papers Some election observers from the European Union (EU) were present to witness the event.
