NABCO, Teacher trainees, nurses, lecturers, journalists, public sector workers are suffering–Prez Akufo-Addo told

“Almost everybody is feeling the brunt of the current economic hardship driven mainly by food inflation, high fuel prices, callous taxes among others. It goes without saying that parents and households are suffering, public sector workers are suffering, teachers are suffering and teacher trainees are suffering. Nurses are suffering and nursing trainees are suffering. Lecturers are suffering and students are suffering. Market women are suffering and drivers are suffering. NABCO trainees whose fate is unknown are suffering. Police officers are suffering. Even you journalists are suffering and all Ghanaians are suffering- all because of the bad leadership of the Bawumia-led Economic Management Team”. The National Communications Officer of the biggest opposition party, Mr Sammy Gyamfi, said at a press conference on Wednesday, 3 August 2022 in Accra. Read Full Details: A PRESS CONFERENCE ADDRESSED BY THE NATIONAL COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER OF THE NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS AT THE HEADQUARTERS OF THE NDC ON WEDNESDAY, 3RD AUGUST, 2022. THE AKUFO-ADDO/BAWUMIA GOVERNMENT MUST ADDRESS WORSENING ECONOMIC CONDITIONS IN THE COUNTRY NOW! Good afternoon, distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen of the press. We graciously welcome you once again to the Headquarters of the National Democratic Congress, as we consider it another privileged opportunity to engage with you on issues of concern to our nation. As always, we are grateful for the continuous collaboration we enjoy from you in the fourth estate of the realm and we consider you very valuable partners in our collective quest for accountability and good governance. Our engagement with you today will focus on the ever-worsening living conditions of the Ghanaian people and the insensitive handling of same by the duty bearers of our country. Friends from the media, you would all agree with me that we are not in normal times in Ghana and that all of us assembled here today, including you in the media are finding it difficult to live your normal lives. Indeed, it is more difficult to hew water out of a rock or perhaps for the camel to pass through the eye of the needle, than for one to make ends meet in Ghana today. However hard you try, or have mastered the art of living, the economic realities of Ghana today will certainly overwhelm you. Cost of living today is unbearable, leading to many individuals and households going hungry, broken marriages and many falling further below the poverty line. Cost of doing business has gone off the roof, leading to the suffocation of many businesses. The point has to be made here ladies and gentlemen, that general hardships per se are not a new phenomenon in our country. However, the current economic hardships Ghanaians are experiencing today are unprecedented in their scale, and unbearable in their impact. Today, the Consumer Price Index which is the barometer for measuring inflation or changes in the prices of goods and services, and all other known economic indicators point to the fact that we are not in normal times. Yet, the Akufo-Addo/Bawumiah government, is not minded to provide relief for the suffering masses. Government has neither demonstrated any sensitivity towards the Ghanaian people who are at the receiving end of this intolerable hardship, nor shown any acumen or ability to ameliorate the untold economic hardships. Alas, to borrow the words of one of Africa’s famous novelists, Chinua Achebe, the center cannot hold, things continue to fall apart, as continuous economic hardship is unleashed on the Ghanaian people on a daily basis. Distinguished friends from the media, at this juncture, it bears painting a picture of the current state of our economy in order to put the issues into their proper perspective. I therefore invite you to come with me on a journey of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia economic reality of today. HIGH INFLATIONFriends from the media, the most reliable indicator of the average change in prices of goods and services over a period of time is the rate of inflation. As we speak, inflation rate which stood at 15.4% in December 2016, has galloped to a whopping 30% as at June 2022. This inflation rate is the worst in the sub-region and in fact the worst inflation rate Ghana has recorded in the last nineteen (19) years. One would have thought that this mid-year period would have at least presented Government with an opportunity to take steps towards arresting the ever-rising inflation rate we are currently experiencing. Sadly, however, the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta only last week presented the 2022 Mid-year budget Review Statement to the august House of Parliament in which he projected an end of year inflation rate of 28.5%. What this means is that, President Akufo-Addo and his vice Alhaji Bawumia, ably supported by their Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, have given up on arresting the current trend of inflationary pressures and have instead thrown their hands up in despair. Simply put, the suffering and excruciating economic hardships we are reeling under will continue to persist for the rest of the year with no end in sight. To be projecting an end of year inflation rate of 28.5% under the current rebased economic regime underlines the crass incompetence, cluelessness and uselessness of the Economic Management Team chaired by the Vice President, Alhaji Bawumia. Sadly, while the Akufo-Addo government continues to pay lip service to this problem of rising inflation, it is at the same time offering very little in terms of leadership, vision and proactive steps to address the push factors of inflation. Friends from the media, it is trite knowledge, even to the uninitiated, that the main factors pushing up inflation and to a large extent, the economic hardships we are experiencing today, are the exchange rate, fuel prices, payments, among others. A government’s handling of these three (3) things largely influences its ability to stabilize inflation, improve general economic wellbeing, among others. And so, to these factors, we now turn attention. FUEL PRICESDistinguished men and women of the inky fraternity, fuel price hikes today have become a frequent occurrence, with prices going up at the pumps

FULL TEXT: NDC’s Press Conference on recent increase in fuel prices

STATEMENT DELIVERED BY THE NATIONAL COMMUNICATION OFFICER OF THE NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS, SAMMY GYAMFI ESQ., AT A PRESS CONFERENCE HELD AT THE PARTY’S HEADQUARTERS ON THE PERSISTENT INCREASE IN FUEL PRICES BY THE AKUFO-ADDO/BAWUMIA-NPP GOVERNMENT. Monday, 18th October, 2021 Good afternoon distinguished ladies and gentlemen of the media. It is my singular honour to welcome you on behalf of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to this press conference which is intended to address the high and unbearable cost of living that Ghanaians are experiencing under the watch of President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Bawumia, which has been largely been occasioned by steep increases in the prices of the Petroleum products over the last four (4) and half years. Permit me to state from the word go, that the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia-NPP government has shown itself to be callous and does not appear a give a hoot about the plight of Ghanaians. Otherwise, what can be the justification for the rampant and persistent increases in fuel prices we are witnessing in Ghana today. As you may be aware, Ghanaians have once again been slapped with another increase in pump prices of fuel by the insensitive and clueless Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration. Only yesterday, the price of diesel and petrol was increased by 7%. This is the ninth (9th) consecutive time in the year 2021 alone, that the prices of petroleum products have gone up. This has increased the price per gallon of diesel and petrol from about GHc21.00 as at January this year, to about GHc31.00 currently. Ladies and gentlemen of the media, the rampant and persistent increase in the prices of fuel products we have witnessed under the watch of President Akufo-Addo and his deceptive Vice, Dr. Bawumia, are a direct product of their insensitive and bad leadership. The introduction of a raft of new draconian taxes on Petroleum products such as; the introduction of 20 pesewas Energy Sector Levy on every liter of diesel and petrol; the increase of 18 pesewas in ESLA per Kilogram of LPG; the introduction of a 10 pesewas sanitation (“borla”) tax on every liter of diesel and petrol; the introduction of a 1% COVID levy on NHIL & VAT, by the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia/NPP government, coupled with the free-fall of the Ghana Cedi which has been occasioned by their gross economic mismanagement, are the major factors responsible for the persistent and steep increase in the prices of fuel products. The introduction of these regressive and draconian taxes by a group of people who berated the erstwhile Mahama regime for “over-taxing” Ghanaians and a group who promised to move Ghana from taxation to production when elected, smacks of deception and insensitivity of monumental proportions. The cascading effect of these draconian tax measures, have among other things, led to an escalation in the prices of fuel products, transport fares, building materials, food products and other commodities on the market, without a commensurate increase in incomes, thereby making cost of living unbearable for the vast majority of Ghanaians. This is the cause of the excruciating economic hardships Ghanaians are currently experiencing. It will be recalled that a gallon of petrol and diesel was sold at about GHc16 in December, 2016 when the NDC/Mahama administration was leaving office. The NPP-led by their then Presidential Candidate, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo and Vice Presidential Candidate, Dr. Bawumia, lambasted and berated President Mahama for this and promised to scrap some taxes on Petroleum products, particularly the Energy Sector Levies and the Special Petroleum Tax so as to significantly reduce the prices of fuel. I am sure you would recall how the NPP in their 2016 manifesto described ESLA as a nuisance tax and promised to scrap same when elected. Unfortunately, many Ghanaians, fell for these lies and voted for the NPP. Little did they know that this and other similar sugar-coated promises of the NPP were pure sophistry. Instead of scrapping the ESLA as promised, the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia-NPP government has collateralized it for a loan which has extended its intended duration from five (5) years to now fifteen (15) years, and increased it by over 20%. As if that was not enough, this government introduced a new Energy Sector Levy of 20 pesewas on every liter of diesel and petrol just this year. Additionally, they have introduced a sanitation (“borla”) tax of 10 pesewas on every liter of petrol and diesel. As a result of this and other increases in existing taxes on fuel such as; the increase of the BOST Margin from 3 pesewas to 9 pesewas per liter representing an increase of 200%; the increase in the Fuel Marking Margin from 3 pesewas to 5 pesewas representing an increase of 67%; and the increase in the Road Fund Levy from 41 pesewas to 46 pesewas, a gallon of petrol and diesel which was sold at about GHc16.00 in December 2016 is today is selling at about GHc31.00. This is almost double the price they berated NDC/Mahama administration for. It is therefore clear from the foregoing facts, that the high increase in the prices of fuel products we have experienced in recent time, is largely as a result of the many draconian taxes and tax increases this government has callously introduced on fuel. That is the major contributing factor. Friends from the media, this astronomical increment in the prices of fuel commodities by the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government and its concomitant effect on transport fares, have led to steep increases in general prices of goods and services thereby making life unbearable for the vast majority of Ghanaians. A cursory look at the Construction industry, with a focus on the prices of building materials reveals a very worrying trend that is of major concern to many Ghanaians. A 50kg bag of cement that was sold at GHc27.00 in the year 2016, is being sold at GHc52.00 and in some cases above this price today. A tonne of iron rods (16mm) that was sold at about GHc2,800 in 2016 is today going for GHc5,300, while a packet of aluminum

Sammy Gyamfi ropes Bawumia, Alan battle into Owusu Bempah saga

• Sammy Gyamfi has accused the Ghana Police Service of bias over its decision to arrest Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah • He holds that Owusu Bempah is being victimized for picking Alan Kyeremateng over Bawumia • Reverend Owusu Bempah was arrested on Sunday, September 12, 2021 Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress, has alleged that Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah of the Glorious Word Power Ministries is being victimized by the government due to his preference of Alan Kyerematen as flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party for the 2024 elections. Sammy Gyamfi is convinced that the arrest and prosecution of Reverend Owusu Bempah is a punishment for his decision to depart from the government’s position of having Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia lead the party in 2024. Speaking on Okay FM, monitored by GhanaWeb, Sammy Gyamfi quizzed the police on why self-acclaimed evangelist, Patricia Oduro Koranteng (Nana Agradaa) was not arrested. Sammy Gyamfi argued that it takes two to tango, hence it is wrong for the police to apprehend just one party and leave the other. He stated that the arrest has got nothing to do with the enforcement of the law but rather a caution to Reverend Owusu Bempah to withdraw his support for Alan Kyerematen. “One prophet is leading Bawumia agenda. Owusu Bempah and his cohorts are also on Alan’s side. It’s all about the power struggle in the NPP. They were looking for a way to deal with him and he brought himself. “Have you seen one person fighting? He has been charged with disturbing public peace, why did they not arrest the person he was fighting with. Their stories are inaccurate. “If the IGP says he is a no-nonsense man, he should arrest the persons who assaulted Nanka Bruce. Crime has no expiry date. He should go and arrest those who attacked a court of competent jurisdiction. If (Owusu Bempah) had not joined them and attacked Mahama, he would not have done this to him so if he’ll come back from cells and attack Mahama, it’s on him”. The Founder and Leader of Glorious Word and Power Ministry International, Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah was arrested together with three of his junior pastors on Sunday, September 12, 2021. The arrest of Owusu Bempah came after a series of confrontations between him and repented fetish priestess, Nana Agradaa now known as Evangelist Patricia Oduro Koranteng. A day after some junior pastors of Reverend Owusu Bempah were seen in a viral video brandishing guns and threatening to deal with Agradaa, the pastor and a group of men trooped to her residence to confront her. Agradaa however failed to face up to Owusu Bempah but chose to stand on the balcony of her building leaving the pastor and his troop stranded at her gate. Following the incident and the brandishing of weapons that characterized the storming of Agradaa’s residence, the Ghana Police Service picked up the Reverend Owusu Bempah and his junior pastors and put them before a court on Monday. His plea for bail was rejected by the court which handed him a one-week remand. Fresh reports however today, September 15, 2021, suggest that his bail request has finally been granted by the Accra Circuit Court. 10 most likely to be President in future

10 most likely to be President in future

Ghana’s democracy since independence in 1957 has experienced some appreciable growth and evolved in the last 6 decades with more people yearning to take up leadership roles This is evident in the number of young men and women venturing into the political space which hitherto used to be a reserve for the older folk. Student politics in tertiary institutions has birthed a lot of young people with a burning desire and an unrelenting drive to take their destinies and that of the country to a different pedestal. The age-old notion of wisdom and experience being the repository of old age is fast fading away as the 21st-century youth have challenged the norm and are rising to the occasion especially in the political sphere. In recent times, the urge and drive for Ghanaian youth are geared towards establishing a more perfect country to promote the general welfare of the citizens, provide for common defense for those who speak truth to power, and ensure posterity. In no particular order, here are 10 potential people likely to be president of Ghana in the future. 1. John Dumelo A Ghanaian actor, farmer, and politician who has within a short time demonstrated enough passion and resilience to his cause to making Ghana a better place. The 37-year-old actor and NDC’s Ayawaso Wuogon Parliamentary candidate for the 2020 elections gave his opponent a run for her money despite losing in the end. For most political watchers, John Dumelo demonstrated guts, immeasurable confidence and performed surprisingly well, especially transitioning from the field of Creative Arts to mainline politics. This tips the successful actor as a potential figure to run for the highest office of the land considering how far he has come. 2. Zanetor Rawlings The eldest daughter of former President, the late Jerry John Rawlings is gradually following in the footsteps of her father. The 42-year-old is currently a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Klottey Korley constituency in the Greater Accra region. She is regarded by many as a future flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) due to her sharp rise in the political spectrum. In the run-up to the 2020 elections, some school of thought claimed she was being figured by former president John Mahama as a running mate and it won’t be a surprise to see her climb up the political ladder to the level of a flag bearer or a future President. 3. Emmanuel Kojo Jones Mensah Popularly known as Kojo Jones, the 32-year-old business executive whose drive and passion for creating employment opportunities landed him in business, has been at the forefront championing a development agenda throughout the country. The young and passionate entrepreneur is a graduate of Coventry University and the London Metropolitan University, respectively. His love to give back to society has seen him provide potable water, stationery, among other things to many poor and needy communities around the country through his KJM Foundation initiative which is a nonprofit organization. Though his thoughts are unknown, his name stands tall among other contenders for a position like this. His passion to make Ghana a world-class country is very much alive which is why his name cannot go unmentioned in this post. 4. Nana Kwame Bediako Widely known as Cheddar or Freedom Jacob Caesar, the real estate mogul arguably is one of the most sought-after young entrepreneurs in Ghana. With a mission of building a united new Africa and bridging it with the rest of the world, his Freedom Movement advocates for an elevation in the education, civilization, and empowerment of African people around the world who seek to have their value and legacy restored. It, therefore, does not beat imagination seeing his name appear in this list. 5. Sarah Adwoa Safo As far as successful female politicians go, Sarah Adwoa Safo cannot be ignored or underrated. The New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart is currently the Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya constituency and Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection. She is also an entrepreneur and a graduate of the George Washington University who served as the Procurement minister under the first term of President Akufo Addo’s government. In less than a decade in Parliament, Madam Adwoa Safo is one of the most vocal voices in the House as far as women are concerned. 6. Sammy Awuku His impeccable communication prowess rose him to the rank of Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party. Sammy’s unflinching love and commitment to the NPP accelerated him quickly to join the rank and file of the party as the National Youth Organiser after a landslide victory in the NPP’s 2013 congress. The 37-year-old brilliant and hardworking youth leader as he is, he works tirelessly and effortlessly to rally the youth behind the NPP which secured President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo (then Flag Bearer) a guaranteed win in the 2016 general elections. His love for Accountability in all matters particularly in governance inspired him to partner with colleagues to form the Group that keeps the government of the day on its toes-Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG). Mr. Awuku is currently the Board Chairman of the Youth Employment Agency. 7. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah He bowed out of broadcasting in 2014 to establish an investment firm, West Brownstone Capital. By 2016, he had become a lawyer practicing as a lawyer. In 2015 the 39-year-old member of Parliament and minister for information contested and won the NPP parliamentary primaries for Ofoase-Ayirebi constituency in the Eastern Region of Ghana leading to his victory in the 2016 general elections. He additionally served as a member of the Finance and Constitutional committees of the 7th Parliament of Ghana. He is currently the President’s Representative at the Ministry of Information. His outstanding up to speed performance and display of aptitude as a minister during the COVID-19 pandemic was a testament to his readiness for the task ahead. It is therefore far-fetched that his name keeps surfacing on the lips of people as a possible flag bearer figure

“Mind-boggling” petition against Dr. Ayine by CJ–Sammy Gyamfi

Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has stated that democracy is allowed for every institution in a state to be subject to scrutiny and criticism. According to him, the Chief Justice’s petition to the General Legal Council against former deputy attorney general Dominic Ayine over his criticism of the conduct of the Bench during the hearing of the 2020 election petition, is very “mind-boggling” “In a democracy, every institution is subject to scrutiny and criticism, and the judiciary is no exception. Any attempt by the Judiciary to suppress dissent and victimize critical voices will be fiercely resisted”. “The comment in question is an opinion Dr. Ayine is entitled to, and does not impugn the sanctity of the judiciary in any way. That, such a harmless comment will warrant Dr. Ayine’s referral to the Disciplinary Committee of the General Legal Council by the Chief Justice is mind-boggling”. Stop the lawlessness – Sammy Gyamfi jabs Akufo-Addo for endorsing burning of excavators

National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has taken a swipe at President Akufo-Addo to stop what he describes as lawless fight against illegal mining (galamsey). President Akufo-Addo yesterday said he strongly disagree with those against the burning of excavators seized from illegal mining activities in the country. He added that those who disagree with him can go to court. In reaction, Sammy Gyamfi in a post on his Twitter page has said enforcing 15-25 year imprisonment of illegal miners will be better than the burning of seized excavators. The NDC Communicator in a post addressed to President-Addo with the hashtag ‘stop the lawlessness’ urged the President to use effective way to fight galamsey. “Nana Addo, the prosecution and 15-25 year imprisonment of illegal miners as provided under our Minerals and Mining Act, is a more deterrent and effective way of fighting the “galamsey” menace than the burning of Excavators. #StopTheLawlessness,” the post reads. Meanwhile, at a sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of the Law Village Project in Accra on Wednesday, April 26, 2021, President Akufo-Addo reiterated his endorsement for the latest approach to combat illegal mining. According to him, anyone who has a problem with the ongoing exercise by Operation Halt should go to court. “I know there are some who believe that the ongoing exercise of ridding our water bodies and forest zones of harmful equipment and machinery is unlawful and, in some cases, harsh. “I strongly disagree, and I would advise those who take a contrary view to go to court to vindicate their position if they so wish. That is what the rule of law is all about,” the President said. Modernghana Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. Contact: 05555568093

‘NPP would’ve sacked Sammy Gyamfi for insulting Speaker’- Obiri Boahen.

A Deputy General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), lawyer Obiri Boahen, says the elephant family would have dealt severely with Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) if he were a member of the party. He said Sammy Gyamfi went overboard in attacking Speaker Alban Bagbin and the Minority in Parliament after Hawa Koomson, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and some other nominees were approved by the plenary. The NDC National Communication Officer, Sammy Gyamfi recently accused the party’s leadership in Parliament as well as the Speaker, Alban Bagbin of betraying the party. He specifically named Tamale South MP, Haruna Iddrisu and Asawase MP, Muntaka Mubarak, saying the duo “brazenly defied the leadership of the party and betrayed the collective good for their selfish interest.” His accusation came after the NDC MPs on Parliament’s Appointments Committee approved Defence Minister-designate, Dominic Nitiwul and later approved three other rejected Ministers-designate when they were brought before the House. Mr. Gyamfi has been slammed for his utterances with some persons asking for him to be punished. Reacting, lawyer Obiri Boahen said Sammy Gyamfi disrespected the Speaker and the Minority and would have been sanctioned by the NPP if he was a member. ”If Sammy Gyamfi was a member of the NPP, he would have been suspended or sacked from the party. If He was a member, we would have. Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. Contact: 0555568093

When did ‘small boy’ Sammy Gyamfi join NDC? – Koku Anyidoho

Former Deputy General Secretary of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Samuel Koku Anyidoho has lambasted the National Communication Officer of the party, Sammy Gyamfi for attacking the party’s leadership in Parliament including the Speaker of Parliament. Describing Sammy Gyamfi as an upstart who recently joined the NDC, Koku Anyidoho wondered why and how he could muster the courage to attack the Rt. Hon. Speaker Alban Bagbin, the Minority Leader, Hon Haruna Iddrisu and the Minority Chief Whip, Hon Muntaka Mubarak for their role in approving some ministers-designate of President Akufo-Addo. “It was about two weeks ago that we heard that a certain small boy in the NDC who feels the NDC is his bonafide property; the boy who recently joined the party has attacked the Speaker of Parliament and the leadership of the NDC in Parliament,” he chastised. “This boy who joined the party recently wants to be carried in a palanquin; he has no respect for anyone and he says whatever he wants and now he has clashed with the Rt. Hon. Speaker Alban Bagbin,” he chided. The Chief Executive Officer of the Atta Mills however applauded the courage of the Rt. Hon. Speaker Alban Bagbin for responding to Sammy Gyamfi and also for making it clear that he will not sit down and allow his office to be abused. Mr Koku Anyidoho stressed the need to build a healthy institution and a healthy governance process as it is the agenda of the Atta Mills Institute to promote a good governance system in the country. “As for the politics we will do it but we should not allow the culture of insult to take over the governance process. We thank Rt. Hon Speaker Alban Bagbin for saying that he is not a Speaker of a political party but a Speaker for Ghana’s Parliament,” he applauded. He reminded Sammy Gyamfi and his likes who are attacking and calling the Speaker of Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu and Muntaka as betrayals to think of how Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin assumed that position when both the NDC and NPP have an equal number of seats in Parliament. He, however, could not fathom the cause of the insults the like of Sammy Gyamfi in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) rained on the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon Alban Bagbin when he was not the Chairman of the Appointment Committee in parliament. PeaceFM Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. NDC in turmoil: ‘Atta Mills boys’ fight Ofosu-Ampofo; Muntaka, Bagbin take on Sammy Gyamfi

Somewhere in the Daboya-Mankarigu Constituency, the constituency chairman of the National Democratic Congress and ten other branch executives are in a tussle with other constituency executives over their future in the party. The situation, according to a report by Nkilgi FM has created deep cracks within the party in the constituency and if a quick-fix is not done, it could cost the party in the 2024 elections with some key members threatening to break away. On a normal day, this would have caught the attention of the National Executive Committee of the party and a team would have been dispatched to resolve the situation. But things are hardly normal in the NDC now. The cracks in the Daboya-Mankarigu Constituency are also being felt at the national level. The party is on the cusp of a breakaway with a plethora of issues confronting it now. The party is currently dealing with the tantrums from the perceived ‘Mills Boys’ who, despite being suspended from the party, continue to spit venom from over the wall. Allotey Jacobs, the former Central Regional Chairman of the party and Koku Anyidoho, the former Deputy General Secretary of the party who were both close allies of the late Professor John Evans Atta Mills have been ostracized from the party in what they both consider to be a persecution of the Mills boys, a claim flatly rejected by Baba Jamal, the Director of Legal Affairs for the party. On Monday, March 15, Allotey and Anyidoho took their frustrations on the National Chairman of the party, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo. Koku Anyidoho fired first, labelling Ofosu-Ampofo as a coward: “I am saying that Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, stop sitting down there and talking about Koku Anyidoho and Allotey Jacobs. You are a coward, Ofosu-Ampofo is a coward. If he is a man he should get up and condemn this nonsense and let’s move on,” he fumed. Allotey who claims to have retired from the party also joined with a barrage of insults and allegations, “Ofosu Ampofo behaves like a toddler, he thinks we don’t know that he is nurturing an ambition to become the flagbearer of the party”. Ofosu-Ampofo will not let it pass so he also fires back, “As we speak, they have all been suspended from the party. If you wish that we take further actions against them following their action we will listen. We will go and look at exactly what has to be done to ensure sanity. “Only last week, a newspaper published with the headline ‘John Mahama you are no longer leader of the NDC, hand over to Ofosu Ampofo to come and redeem the party’ which was attributed to Koku Anyidoho. “It is not Koku Anyidoho who will teach us what the NDC’s constitution says. We have a constitution and we know what the constitution says.” While this is ongoing, Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer of the party is being flayed by Alban Bagbin and Muntaka Mohammed for comments he made about them. Bagbin retorted first with a message to Sammy Gyamfi that “because I say I belong or came from a party, does he [Sammy Gyamfi] think I’m at the beck and call of the party?” he asked. “Now, I don’t belong to any party. I’m Speaker of Ghana. I’m not a Speaker of NPP. I’m not a Speaker of NDC. I’m Speaker of Ghana. And I must hold the balance. So, decision-taking; no. My duty is to ensure that there’s an even playing field and the decision is taken and I announce it. That is all,” he explained his role. Muntaka, the Minority Chief Whip in a separate interview said, “Every member of parliament swore an oath to uphold the constitution. The mandate of every member of parliament overruns his party. The mandate of every member of parliament is above the interest of the party because after the election you don’t only represent the party but everyone in your constituency. Your party is just one leg so anything from your party is just an advice. You should remember that the buck stops with you the MP.” Ghanaweb Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. Contact: 0555568093

Approving Akufo-Addo’s ministers ‘regrettable and unfortunate’ – NDC caucus to Council of Elders

The leadership of the Minority in Parliament has expressed regret over the mass approval of all the ministers nominated by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and vetted last month. At a meeting with the Council of Elders of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Tuesday, March 16, the two parties agreed that the incident of Wednesday, March 3 “was regrettable and unfortunate and runs contrary to the principles and values of the party”. The meeting comes exactly after the Council met the leadership of the party over the approval of some of the ministerial nominees, who were rejected by the NDC members on the Appointments Committee. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Mavis Hawa Koomson and Dr Osei Afriyie Akoto were the three ministers rejected in the report by the Minority members on the Appointments Committee. But at plenary, the three received overwhelming votes to be approved as substantive ministers. This came as a surprise to some staunch members of the largest opposition party, among them the National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi. Mr Gyamfi took to his official Facebook page the following day to express disappointment in the leadership of the party in Parliament, casting insinuations at the Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, the Minority Chief Whip, Alhaji Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, and even the Right Honorable Speaker, Alban Bagbin, who until 2021 was an NDC MP. “Comrades, the betrayal we have suffered in the hands of the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, the leadership of our Parliamentary group, particularly Hon. Haruna Iddrissu and Hon. Muntaka Mubarak, and dozens of our own MPs, is what strengthens me to work hard for the great NDC to regain power,” he wrote on Thursday, March 4. “They brazenly defied the leadership of the party and betrayed the collective good for their selfish interest. And we, must not let them succeed in their parochial quest to destroy the NDC, the party that has done so much for them and all of us. The shame they have brought on the party will forever hang like an albatross around their necks.” But the meeting between the Council and leadership of the Minority in Parliament sought to resolve the fracas. “The Caucus Leadership have since pledged to uphold the principles and values of the party in our collective bid to develop our country,” Chairman of the Council Alhai Mahama Iddrisu said in a press release issued after the meeting. “The Council urged National leadership of the party to resolve issues relating to the Caucus leadership in Parliament and called on the rank and file of the party to remain calm, and provide the needed support to our Caucus in order to hold the Akufo Addo government strictly to the principles of probity and accountability.” It promised that the party will emerge from the setback “more united and focused” and will take on the government squarely. 3news Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications.
