Even though the money was paid around 7 pm to 8 pm, beneficiaries who were able to load and withdraw from their Ez-wich said, their girlfriends and wives will be able to serve them better sugar and honey throughout the Friday night. NABCO: Pay poor young people in NABCO, they just need Ghc 700.00 to survive– Bismark Ayorogo

NABCO Friday is here, beneficiaries to smile with 3months arrears
Beneficiaries of the Nation’s Builders Corps (NABCo) in the Ashanti Region whose allowances have been in arrears will be paid by Friday, July 9, 2021. This is according to the Ashanti Regional Director for the programme, Dennis Kwakwa, who was responding to the issues of undue delay in allowance payment, on Tuesday. NABCO beneficiaries in the region are yet to be paid allowances for the months of April, May and June. Speaking on Luv FM’s Luv In The Morning with David Akuetteh, Mr Kwakwa explained that the late disbursement of funds from the Ministry of Finance is sometimes to blame for the subsequent interruption of payment. “NaBCo is doing well and I don’t think there’s anything else, apart from the fact that we have some arrears to pay this week and so the state of NaBCo is normal as it has been always. We owe trainees the months of April, May and June. We get money from the Ministry of Finance and, sometimes when there is a delay, it means we get delayed release from the Ministry and so as soon money hits our account, we make the payments to the beneficiaries.” Although beneficiaries in other parts of the country have also complained over delayed stipends, Mr Kwakwa asserted that “NaBCo is probably the best youth-focused programme, that can pay up its beneficiaries but whatever it is, I think government sometimes might get a bit of difficulty and so our expectation has not been, to put our trainees through distress.” NABCo was introduced by the Akufo-Addo administration in May 2018 as one of the interventions to address graduate unemployment, by engaging the raw talents of unemployed graduates and equipping them with skills through a process of value addition and training. More than 100,000 graduates have been involved under the seven modules; namely, Civic Ghana Feed Ghana, Educate Ghana, Heal Ghana, Revenue Ghana, and Digitize Ghana and Enterprise Ghana. The placement in the NaBCo lasts for a period of three years, with beneficiaries enjoying a stipend of Gh¢700 every month. Dery extends Ejura c’ttee from Friday, 9th July 2021 to Friday, 16th July 2021
The Minister for the Interior, Mr Ambrose Dery, has approved a request made by the three-member Ministerial Committee to be given six more days to probe the shooting incident and killings in Ejura in the Ashanti region. The Committee, chaired by Justice Koomson, was expected to submit its report by today, Friday, 9 July 2021. The Committee was tasked to submit a detailed report with its recommendations for appropriate action within 10 days. But in a letter signed by the Secretary to the Committee, Marie-Louise Simmons, on 7 July 2021, the committee requested an extension of the deadline to Friday, 16 July 2021. Mr Dery, in response to the request, indicated in a letter dated 8 July 2021: “Your request for the extension of the working period from Friday, 9th July 2021 to Friday, 16th July 2021, is, hereby, approved”. UER: Mother crushed to death with her baby, her other 2 kids in critical condition
It was a sad Friday morning in the Bolgatanga Municipal of the Upper East Region when a woman taking her children to school and her baby were crushed to death instantly by a tanker. According to an eyewitness account, the woman who backed a baby and carried other two children on a motorbike was knocked off by a tricycle popularly known as (Mahama Can Do) as the Can Do was trying to overtake a Motor-King. However, after noticing that there was an incoming long vehicle, the tricycle rider veered off the road thereby knocking the woman and her children off their motorbike, along the lane of the incoming long vehicle which then crushed them to death. Regrettably, the woman and her baby she backed died instantly, while the two other children sustained some degree of injuries. The Ghana Police Service which was later called to the scene conveyed the bodies of the deceased to the Upper East Regional Hospital. However, the tricycle and long vehicle have been sent to the Bolgatanga Municipal Police Station for further investigations. Azugu under IGP not me – Dery tells parliament in answer to why he’s still at post
Deputy Superintendent of Police, Samuel Kojo Azugu, has, since 27 May 2021, been recalled by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) from the Ministry of National Security and duly reassigned within the Ghana Police Service, Minister for the Interior Ambrose Dery has told parliament on Thursday, 8 July 2021. “So, he is no more with National Security. He’s now with the Ghana Police Service”, Mr Dery told the chamber while answering a question filed by Ashaiman MP Ernest Norgbey about why DSP Azugu was still at post despite a recommendation by the Emile Short Commission that probed the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence that he be sanctioned. The former Commander of the SWAT unit’s name also came up for the wrong reason in May this year following the assault of Citi FM journalist Caleb Kudah. Mr Dery, however, deflected the question about DSP Azugu’s continuous stay in the police service, to the IGP. “Mr Speaker, your question was that he remains at post and my answer is that he is not at the Ministry of National Security but he is back with the Ghana Police Service. Besides, let me emphasise that by Article 202 of the Constitution, operational matters are in the remit of the IGP not the Minister”, he said. DSP Azugu’s transfer came some three weeks after the assault of the Citi FM journalist by some national security operatives within the enclave of the National Security Ministry for taking a video of some abandoned state-acquired vehicles within the MASLOC yard – a no-photography zone. Following Mr Kudah’s arrest, seven heavily armed security operatives barged into Citi FM’s premises at Adabraka to arrest Mrs Zoe Abu-Baidoo Addo, Caleb’s alleged co-conspirator, to whom he electronically forwarded the secret recordings via his mobile phone. Mr Kudah claimed he was pushed, slapped and kicked in the groin by the security operatives when he was arrested. Already, four operatives involved in the alleged assault – a military officer and three police officers on secondment to the National Security outfit – had been withdrawn and sent back to their mother units. Africa CDC and MTN accelerate fight against COVID-19 with “One More Push” campaign
The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) and pan-African operator MTN Group today launched a joint campaign – “One More Push” – to encourage people across the continent to not give up in the fight against COVID-19, and to continue to wear their masks, wash their hands and practice social distancing. “With third and fourth waves of COVID-19 sweeping across parts of Africa, we cannot overstate the importance of everyone doing their best right now to keep the virus at bay,” says Africa CDC Director, Dr John Nkengasong. “This campaign aims to encourage people to keep practising the preventative measures we know can limit the spread of COVID-19.” The awareness campaign is an extension of the African Union’s ‘Adapted Africa Joint Continental Strategy for COVID-19 Pandemic’ endorsed by Africa’s Health Ministers and aligned to the ‘Prevent, Monitor and Treat’ approach. It is also an extension of the partnership between the Africa CDC and MTN, which includes the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines to health workers across the continent through the Group’s US$25 million donation. “One More Push” is a renewed drive to encourage the public not to give up now. It asks that all of us keep our masks on, wash or sanitise our hands, and maintain a physical distance from each other until it is safe to no longer do so. In this way, we will be able to get back to the ‘old normal’ (or the best possible version of it) sooner rather than later.
