Bolga High Court orders EC to mount witness box in ongoing Pusiga election petition

A Bolgatanga High Court has ordered the electoral commission to open a defence in an ongoing Pusiga Parliamentary election petition. The Court, presided over by His Lordship Charles Ajei Wilson said the electoral commission must demonstrate to the court that there is no possibility that the petitioner would be able to establish a cause of action against respondents even if all disputed malpractices, irregularities and alleged questions of fact resolved in the petitioner’s favour. On 18th January 2021, the parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party in the 2020 elections for the Pusiga constituency Abdul Karim Zanni Dubiure petitioned the court in respect of the outcome of the election. The petitioner argues that the electoral commission erred in declaring Hajia Laadi Ayamba winner of the Parliamentary election. He is asking the court to annul results of some five polling stations which he states were fraught with irregularities. Mr Karim stated further that there was over voting in the said polling stations thereby compromising the outcome. Though Lawyer for the 2nd respondent (Hajia Laadi Ayamba), Edudzi Tamakloe maintained that the court cannot compel their client to be cross-examined as referred to in the 2020 Presidential Election petition as stated by the supreme court, the Bolgatanga High Court granted that application but dissented in the matter of the 1st respondent (EC) being cross-examined. “For the purposes of the 1st respondent two matters are essential for consideration. The question presented is not whether the petitioner will prevail in this action, but also, whether the 1st respondent, Electoral Commission us entitled to offer evidence against the petitioner’s allegations. In answering these questions the court assumes that petitioner’s allegations are true and draws all reasonable interference in the petitioner’s favour,” the Tuesday ruling said. The judge stated further that “Now, since 1st respondent Electoral Commission is repudiating the challenge and complain, then I am of the view that the 1st respondent must necessarily give a statement in court to explain the alleged irregularities”. The case has been adjourned to November 12. —Dreamfm Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. Contact: 05555568093

The beating Member Parliament accused rejected MCE of mastermind

Member of Parliament (MP) for the Atwima Nwabiagya South Constituency, Hon. Emmanuel Agyei has accused the rejected President nominee of Juaben Mr. Alexander Sarfo Kantanka for the terrible beating he received at the hands of some aggrieved youth. The MP made the accusation in an interview with Kumasi-based Angel FM monitored by Apexnewsgh.com on Monday, “…i know for sure that they were sent by the nominee to beat me up. I can’t tell why he did that because I have no problems with him. I went there only as an observer for the Ashanti Parliamentary Caucus so there was no way that I could have influenced the outcome of the elections.” He further narrated, how five police officers escorted him into his car before he was able to escape the scene. “I was whisked away by the police and given cover at the police station for some time; I had to be escorted into my car by five senior police officers before I was able to leave the town”, he added. Newly comfirmed Cape Coast MCE drags MP Ricketts Hagan to court

The Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) for Cape Coast Assembly, Mr. Ernest Arthur has dragged the Member of Parliament (MP) for Cape Coast South Constituency, Hon. George Kwaku Ricketts Hagan before a Cape Coast High Court for defamation of character. The Cape Coast South Constituency Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC)Mr. George Arthur revealed this at a press conference held in Cape Coast. According to him, Mr. Ernest Arthur popularly known in politics as Mayor 1 also exhibited his usual insulting and arrogant character towards Mr. Ricketts Hagan through a text message that “the MP is a walking disaster, hence he(Ernest Arthur) has refused to approve his common fund for almost a year”. The Secretary also revealed that Mr. Ernest Arthur after he was re-nominated by the President, surreptitiously went to Kwaku Ricketts’ house with party Stalwarts at dawn to seek his support and wanted to offer a huge amount of money for negotiations but the MP refused. George Arthur refuted all the allegations made against the MP on the fact that Kwaku Ricketts paid $100 dollars each to some of the Assembly Members to vote against the MCE on two occasions, describing it as a palpable false and blatant lie. “We want to emphatically state without mincing words that about 90% of the people of Cape Coast do not want him due to his incompetency, selfishness, conflict of interest, lack of respect to the authorities, institutional heads within the Metropolis, Assembly Members and unnecessary embezzlement of Assembly funds” Mr. George Arthur claimed. He, therefore, mentioned some remarkable achievements within Kwaku Ricketts Hagan’s three terms as MP for the area including the establishment of a well-furnished MP’s office within the Constituency specifically at CCMA to address the concerns of the constituents. The rest he added, are the establishment of Cape Coast South Education Endowment (CCSEF) fund which seek to support the poor and needy Students in the Constituency of which about 3, 467 Students have already received their share among other countless projects wondering why he would stoop so low in engaging in unnecessary banter with the MCE —mynewsgh Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications.
