Late Kofi Adda’s legacy will live beyond us—Gregory Abasang
Mr. Gregory Abasang, an indigene and active member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Navrongo Constituency of the Upper East Region has said, the legacy of the late Joseph Kofi Adda will forever live in the minds of the people of Navrongo and the New Patriotic Party. Expressing his satisfaction with the effort Hon. Adda put in place for the people of Navrongo, Mr. Abasang said: “… i wish Hon. Kofi Adda the best of everything, we have seen the things he has done. Kofi Adda has done a lot of things, in Navrongo and beyond, he did a lot of projects, he built a lot of schools, health centers, he built a lot of bridges and he is a unifier who stands tall in terms of the party in the region. He was the only Member of Parliament who has won the seat several times in the region in the history of NPP”. Asking whether Hon. Kofi Adda will be missed by the people of Navrongo? Mr. Abasang responded “We will miss him greatly, the day his passing on was announced, Navrongo became a deaf ground because every area was seen very silent. Use auditor general’s report to end corruption-Pentecostal council to OSP
The Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) has suggested to the Office of the Special Prosecutor to make good use of the auditor general’s reports to effectively fight corruption in Ghana. The council, after deliberations at its 2022 conference of heads of churches and organisations, bemoaned the increasing cases of corruption and mismanagement of public funds by metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies and state-owned enterprises as revealed by the 2020 Auditor General’s report. According to the Pentecostal Council, the worrying trend of corrupt practices in the AG’s annual reports should prompt the special prosecutor to take a keen interest in dealing with the canker. More taxes, zero corruption “While Ghanaians are being called upon to pay more taxes to facilitate development, we have public officers embezzling, misapplying and misappropriating public funds through various corrupt activities causing the state to lose billions of Ghana Cedis, with most culprits going unpunished over the years.” Call to action “We, therefore, call on the Office of the Special Prosecutor to take a keen interest in the reports of the Auditor-General to save this country from the brink of social upheavals. “…We reaffirm our strong belief in the Ghanaian through the Church of Jesus Christ, to rise once again to the challenges of nation-building, urging all to eschew all forms of negative attitudes that drawback national progress but instilling in us the sense of patriotism.” Go after stolen State funds OccupyGhana, a leading Ghanaian pressure group, on 5 February 2022, issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Auditor-General to go after state funds recorded in the 2019 and 2020 audit reports as having been misused, or risk being sued. Navrongo in tears and sorrow as tributes of Kofi Adda was pouring
Former Ghana Aviation Minister Joseph Kofi Addah is laid to rest in his hometown on Saturday, February 12, 2022. The Burial service was conducted by Most Reverend Alfred Agyenta, Bishop of the Navrongo-Bolgatanga Catholic diocese. Families, friends and members of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) were massively represented in their numbers to pay their last respect to the late Joseph Kofi Addah. Meanwhile, representing the President of the Republic, the Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia led a government delegation to pay the last respect to the former Aviation Minister and MP, Joseph Kofi Addah. However, the burial service ceremony which was held at a popular COS Park in Navrongo was bombarded with tears, pains and sorrow especially during the time for tribute reading. Most Reverend Alfred Agyenta, Bishop of the Navrongo-Bolgatanga Catholic diocese, during his sermon admonished politicians to see politics as a ‘clean’ venture and not ‘dirty’ as they normally claim (politics is a dirty game) as he encouraged them to emulate the good leadership of the late Kofi Addah and some of the intervention he brought for his good people, such as health care delivery which has contributed massively in reducing maternal and infant mortality in Navrongo. “We are begging the lord to grant us politicians who are genuinely disturbed by the state of our society, who are genuinely disturbed by the state of our people and who are genuinely disturbed by lives of the poor and the vulnerable. We believe, the Hon. Kofi Adda has played his part in the best of his ability. We thank him for his efforts and pray he found peace in the bosom of the lord. May his family take consolation in our faith and in our hope we shall remember Kofi”.
