The Deputy majority leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has said, the Russia-Ukraine war is the more important reason the country even need E-levy. He stressed, that the call to rescue Ghanaians residing in Ukraine will come at a cost to the state and put more burden on the already scarce resources hence the need to look at innovative ways to generate revenue, i.e. E-levy. The Deputy Minority leader believes the Russia-Ukraine war will affect import and export as well as the cedi because businesses will no longer be able to import from Europe, grow and pay their taxes which will ultimately affect the country’s economy. According to the MP, the passage of the E-levy in these abnormal times is the best solution to accumulate revenue for the development of the country. “There’s going to be pressure on the limited resources that we have and as a nation, Ghanaian businesses who are supposed to do well to pay taxes, they are going to suffer, their businesses will not do well the way they expect. “Their projections will be affected that is the reality and I must bring this to the attention of all of us so that any policy that will be brought will be seen in that light…if sic you are talking about e-levy this is the more important reason why we even need it.” “We should congregate around it and find a way of generating revenue as a country to save the situation because we are not in normal times,” he stressed. Some Residents of Navrongo Constituency in the Upper East Region have registered displeasure with what they described as a ‘disrespect to their royal chief His Royal Majesty, Pe Dennis Aniakwa Balinia Addah Asagpaare II According to them, it is important for the people in charge of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) protocol in the Region and Navrongo in particular to see that, Navrongo has a paramount chief. They said, there is a need for the President, his vice and government officials to follow the appropriate custom by way of coming to greet the landlord (chief) on arrival or even before departure. According to some of the aggrieved people in the area, for close to five years since the NPP assumed office, neither President Akufo-Addo nor his Vice saw the need to greet Navropio each time they visited Navrongo for one programme or the other. “Whoever is closer to the Presidency and mean well for the NPP and Dr. Bawumia should draw their attention to the fact that, if the cracks in the Constituency will continue to steal basic ethics and cultural sensibleness from them, then, they should take a second look at the future of the Party in Navrongo”. God will cut off your head- Appiah Stadium angrily told Rev Asante
A popular serial caller of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Appiah Stadium has been captured confronting the immediate past Chairman of the National Peace Council Rev. Prof Emmanuel Asante in a video He was captured calling Mr. Asante “a hypocrite” for keeping silent on all the bad happening in Ghana under President Nana Akufo-Addo. The incident happened after Appiah Stadium finish exchanging pleasantries with Rev. Asante, Appiah Stadium nicely inquired from the cleric about why he has lost his voice on national issues now that President Akufo-Addo is at the helm of affairs. However, Rev. Asante responded with a smile: “I wasn’t speaking in my capacity as a Ghanaian then”, he told Appiah Stadium, clarifying: “I’m not Rev Dr. Asante-Antwi” However, Appiah Stadium pointed out to the cleric that the cost of a one-hour flight of President Akufo-Addo alone can build a whole school block, contrasting that with the situation under former President John Mahama, who he said, never embarked on such luxurious trips. Tempane: District Health Committee Inaugurated to Improve Health Quality
The Tempane District Assembly led by the District Chief Executive (DCE) Issaka Anabida has inaugurated District Health Committee (DHC). According to the constitutional mandate; the Ghana Health Service and the Teaching Hospital act of 1996, Act 525 requires the establishment of the District Health Committees whose duties are mostly to advise the District Director of Health Service in the performance of his duties in the district and shall perform such functions of the Council in the district as the Council may assign to it. Meanwhile, during the inaugural ceremony, the DCE charged the committee to be focused on their mandated responsibility. “I want to charge all members of the committee to put aside every other personal interest and focus on the collective health interest of the people of this District”. He charged According to Mr. Anabida, he followed the health sector performance with keen interest and the last time he checked, the current performance they are enjoying at the end of 3rd quarter 2021, the Tempane district was placed 1st. “I want to task this committee to ensure that, we don’t as slip down as a district, let every one of us here show commitment to ensuring quality healthcare is delivered in this district” He stressed The Upper East Regional Health Director Dr. Emmanuel Kofi Dzotsi who was present at the inaugural ceremony could not hide his excitement. According to him, the occasion made his day the happiest one since the year began because he was always wondering how the inaugural ceremony will be done for the first time in the history of Tempane District. He, however, admonished the committee to do their best to serve the people and forward any issue beyond their control to the Regional Directorate. He extended his appreciation to the DCE for his commitment to the health sector since he assumed office. The District Health Director Cosmos Minyila on his address heaped praises to the DCE for always availing himself to support the directorate whenever he’s called upon. He also used the occasion to announce that Tempane is 3rd in the region when it comes to Covid-19 public vaccination. He reported that the District had a few people infected with Covid-19 but they’ve all passed out and doing well. He charged his colleagues in the committee to put up their best for the District. The Regional Health Committee Chairperson Moriama Gumah swore the members into the office and pledged his readiness to work with them to the benefit of the people of Tempane district.
