Breaking News: DCE in alleged audio tape encouraging galamsey, suspended
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bosome Freho in the Ashanti Region, Yaw Danso has been suspended with immediate effect by the President, for his alleged involvement in galamsey. A viral audio on social media implicated the District Chief Executive when he was purportedly heard encouraging illegal mining activities in his district despite government efforts to fight against illegal mining. A letter sighted by Apexnewsgh.com said the suspension is to allow investigation into the matter by the appropriate agencies to verify the authenticity of the alleged audio recording. Meanwhile, some members of the Assembly had already called on President Akufo-Addo, his Chief of Staff, the Local Government and Decentralization Minister, and Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Abu Jinapor to take a serious look into the allegations. Paga Chief made these three important appeals during Vice President’s visit to his Palace.
The Paramount Chief of the Paga Traditional Area His Royal Majesty Pe Pwanalunga-Charles Awiah Awampaga II has appealed to the government to come to their aid. According to the Chief, the inability of the government to come to their aid after 2 years of fire incidents at their Senior High School has forced their students to rent houses which are causing a lot of teenage pregnancies at the school. He said: “there are few things we will like to plead with you. One of them is the Senior High School. There was a time the girl’s dormitory got burnt and more than 2years down the lane, nothing has been done to it, and is even a day school we appealing to you, we are on our knees, come to our aide because it is a border town and they are facing a lot of challenges. They are encountering teenage pregnancies because they have to rent and the things they do whiles they do their studies is an eye saw, we are pleading with you to come to our aide”. He pleaded The Chief also cease the opportunity to ask for government intervention on their collapsed bridge which he said, is linking more other communities. “We have a bridge that is linking to so many communities from Paga to Navio, Sirigu, and back to Bolga. It has been closed down, making economic activities very hard for our people. Farmers bringing their farm produce is a Problem for us. Come to our aide in this regard”. However, making the last appeal to the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Chief said: “Please, we know that is not easy but we want to add. We have a school here which is highly in need and is an Arabic school Paga English and Arabic, we are appealing to you to give us 6unit classrooms to serve as one of the best schools”. Agenda 111: I am not happy about the progress of work, it’s not satisfactory– Dr. Bawumia to contractor
Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, has expressed dissatisfaction following the progress of work done so far on the Agenda 111 project in the Kassena- Nankana West District. Apexnewsgh.com report Unfortunately, the project which was awarded to a contractor in February 2022, was still seen stagnant at the foundation level during the Vice President’s visit to the site on Friday to inspect the progress of work done as part of his two-day working visit to the Region. The Vice President couldn’t hide his feelings when engaging the press. “I was not happy about the progress of work, it’s not satisfactory, I have told the Consultant who briefed me and he confessed himself, therefore we need to make progress,” he stressed. According to Vice President, the challenges in the health sector, which include the non-availability of hospitals in some Districts across Ghana, is a serious issue, stressing that the Akufo-Addo-led- government had taken a bold decision to address it. He told the press, that government adopted a holistic approach to build 111 standard hospitals towards addressing the health needs of over 90 Districts without hospitals, seven Regional and three psychiatric hospitals across the country.
