The Nation Council of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has appointed members and chairpersons to serve on the party’s standing and ad hoc committees. In a press release dated November 3, the appointment by the National Council was in line with the party’s constitution. “Pursuant to Article 10(3)(6) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constitution, the National Council, at its meeting held on October 5, 2022, and upon further consultations with relevant stakeholders, appointed the following persons to serve on the Standing and Ad hoc Committees of the Party,” parts of the release read. The appointed members are to serve on the party’s finance, constitution and legal committees; organisation; research; disciplinary and communication committees. The finance committee will be chaired by Abankwa Sekyere; the constitutional and legal committee by Frank Davies; the organisation committee by Lord Oblitey Commey; the research committee by Osei Bonsu Amoah; the disciplinary committee by Kwasi Amoako-Atta and the communication committee by Nana Akomea. Akufo-Addo Under Fire As NPP Chairmen Accuse Him Of Neglect; Say Their Wives Are Leaving Them Due To Hardships
Some stalwarts of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) have accused President Nana Akufo-Addo of neglect The former constituency chairmen say after spending their resources on bringing the party to power, they have been left to their fate They add that their situation has been worsened by the current economic hardships, with some of their wives leaving them A group of stalwarts from the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) have lamented the current economic hardships in the country. According to the former constituency chairpersons from across the country, their woes have been further deepened by the neglect from President Nana Akufo-Addo. The group says they have been left to their fate despite selling their properties and spending huge resources on the campaign to win the 2016 and 2020 general elections. At a press conference, a former Chairman for the Sampa Constituency, Seidu Adams, accused the president of not doing enough to reward them after their various sacrifices in the heat of the campaign seasons. Adams, who spoke on behalf of the group of former constituency chairmen, said some of them have lost their wives because they cannot make ends meet. The group says most of them spent their savings for the 2016 and 2020 elections to campaign for the NPP. To their surprise, they say they haven’t been given the recognition they were assured of after the party won power. The aggrieved NPP chairmen say if nothing is done about their predicament, they will be forced to sabotage the party’s efforts to break the eight. Adams added that they will go to all lengths to ensure the party loses in the 2024 election since they have been rendered useless in their constituencies and families. NPP is not a one man’s party, it belongs to all of us –Boakye Agyarko, bites Akufo-Addo
Boakye Agyarko, a former Energy Minister under Akufo-Addo’s first administration has said, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as a political party does not belong to one person unlike some other parties. The Presidential candidate hopeful made the pronouncement when responding to the matters arising after President Akufo-Addo’s comment in an interview granted by OTEC Fm in Kumasi. He said: “Some parties belong to individuals but per our tradition, this party does not belong to one person, it belongs to all of us. If one person says something and it doesn’t go well, it affects all of us. We apologize. Mr. Agyarko said, the people of Kumasi needs to be pampered because they gave the party a lot of votes from that part of the country. “So what I’m asking is that they should tamper justice with mercy,” he stressed. The NPP Presidential candidate hopeful described such pronouncement as an offensive one “To the people of Kwabire and everyone else who got offended by these statements, we apologize. This was one person’s utterances; the party does not belong to one person. The thing about this tradition and party is that it does not belong to one person”. He further added, “The elders say, it is a king who is going into the public that has people dancing behind him, not the one returning. President Akufo-Addo in his response said; “people make those kinds of threats, me, they don’t frighten me. “There is no need for people to say if I do not do it, this or that. That is your own problem. Of course, I will fulfill my promises. “But if it so happens that you decide to vote for the NDC, that is your problem, that is not mine. Nobody will hold your hand to thumbprint for any candidate, the most important thing is that I understand the responsibility and we will deal with it,” he stressed.
