President Akufo-Addo Studies KPMG Audit Report on GRA and SML Transactions
President Akufo-Addo has received the audit report by KPMG on the transactions between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML). Apexnewsgh reports This comes after a documentary by the Fourth Estate raised concerns about SML allegedly receiving billions from the state for little to no work done. The contract in question was initiated by the Ministry of Finance with the aim of enhancing revenue assurance in the downstream petroleum sector, the upstream petroleum production, and the minerals and metals resources value chain. A statement from the director of communication at the Office of the President, Eugene Arhin, revealed that President Akufo-Addo will soon make his decision on the matter public after carefully studying the report. The statement also highlighted the president’s initial actions, where he appointed KPMG to conduct an immediate audit of the transactions between GRA and SML in January. Following this, the Ministry of Finance and GRA were directed to suspend the performance of the contracts until the audit report was submitted. President Akufo-Addo Reassigns Dr Stephen Amoah as Deputy Minister for Finance
In a recent development, President Akufo-Addo has reassigned Dr Stephen Amoah, also known as Sticker, as the Deputy Minister for Finance. The reassignment was announced in a letter signed by Eugene Arhin, the Director of Communications at the Jubilee House, on 2 April 2024. According to the letter, Dr Stephen Amoah takes over from the late Hon. John Kumah, who passed away on 7th March 2024, in his new role. The appointment is effective immediately. In addition to this reassignment, President Akufo-Addo has appointed Hon. Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo, Member of Parliament for Achiase, as the Deputy Minister-designate for Trade and Industry. Supporters gathered at the Ejisu NPP office to show their support for their preferred aspirants as they purchased nomination forms from the election committee chaired by Danquah Smith Buttey, the national first vice chairman of the party. Among those who picked nomination forms were former Ghana FA president Kwasi Nyantakyi, Lawyer Kwabena Boateng, a second vice chairman of the NPP in Ejisu, and Helena Mensah. Also included in the list of aspirants were Lawyer Portia Baffoe Abronye, Dr. Evans Duah, Madam Pokuaa Boitey, and Klinsman Karikari Mensah. All the aspirants expressed confidence in being placed on the ballot as the nomination period closed on Thursday (4 April).
