Asogli State’s Agbogbomefia Destools Togbe Afiatsoa III
Togbe Afede XIV, the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, has destooled Togbe Afiatsoa III, also known as Mr. Fred Yao Akordor, as the Mankrado of Ho Bankoe and Afetorfia of the Muviefe Clan. Apexnewsgh reports The decision was made due to multiple instances of misconduct and gross insubordination. According to Togbe Adubobi IV, Afetorfia of Ho Bankoe and representative of Togbe Afede XIV, Togbe Afiatsoa III’s actions had consistently sought to divide the Ho Bankoe community and undermine the unity of the Asogli State Council. His behavior was deemed to have violated the customs and traditions governing the chieftaincy institution in the Asogli State. As a result of the destoolment, Mr. Akordor has been removed from all chieftaincy-related activities and programs within the Ho Traditional Area and the Asogli State Council. He no longer holds any title as a chief and will be addressed only by his private name. The public and media outlets have been warned not to recognize or engage him in any capacity as a chief. Togbe Afede XIV, a renowned entrepreneur and investment banker, has been the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State since October 4, 2003. He is also the President of the Asogli Traditional Council and currently serves as the President of the National House of Chiefs. The nominee for the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bongo, Hon. Joseph Akasake Abaah, acknowledges his roles as one to serve and rule, he made the pronouncement after he received an overwhelming endorsement from members of the district assembly during a session held on Tuesday. The assembly convened on Tuesday, April 15 to elect a Presiding member and confirm the DCE nominee. But it took the intervention of the over Lord of the Bongo district – Naba Salifu Alemyarum to see one of candidate for the PM position, Hon. Phelmond Ataba Atiah to concede to Hon. Nba Asampana to be declared winner and announced as the Presiding Member of district. The standoff between these two candidates after none were able to garner the 2/3 majority votes of members of assembly, nearly derailed but delayed the process of the DCE confirmation. Hon. Akasake, a seasoned community organizer, former Assembly member, party secretary,with over 15 years of experience in public service, was nominated by H. E John Dramani Mahama earlier this month. His nomination has been met with widespread enthusiasm, particularly among assembly members who praised his commitment to inclusivity and his innovative approach to community outreach. During the session, assembly members took turns voting their support for Hon. Paramount Chief Naba Baba Salifu Alemyarum of Bongo district has appealed to the government to consider the creation of a new parliamentary constituency within his district. During a meeting of the Bongo district assembly to elect a Presiding Member and the confirmation of the DCE nominee held on Tuesday April 15 2025, Naba Baba Salifu Alemyarum outlined the rationale behind the appeal, emphasizing the need for improved governance structures to better serve the diverse communities within the district. “Our district has seen substantial population growth but lacks the correspondent development in recent years, which has led to an increased demand for effective representation,” he stated. “Creating a new constituency will ensure that the voices of all our people are heard and that their needs are adequately addressed.” The chief highlighted several key issues that have prompted the appeal, including inadequate infrastructure, limited access to healthcare, and insufficient educational resources. He argued that the current constituency boundaries do not reflect the demographic realities of the district, making it difficult for elected representatives to address the unique challenges faced by different communities.
