The Convention People’s Party (CPP) Secretary has demanded President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s resignation.

The demand came as a result of what the party labeled as the mismanagement of the economy by the Akufo-Addo-led government since assuming office.

According to the CPP General Secretary of the party, Nana Yaa Gyantuah, President Akufo-Addo has not followed the promises he made to Ghanaians in the fight against galamsey and the protection of the public purse.

In an event organized in celebration of Ghana’s founder Kwame Nkrumah, on Wednesday, 21 September 2022, Nana Yaa Gyantuah said: “Almost all our water bodies have been destroyed because of galamsey… I think it is time for him to resign. I think it is time for Nana Akufo-Addo to put down his job and allow competent people to take over.”

She believes the CPP will be able to turn the fortunes of the country around when the opportunity is given.
“We the CPP will go strictly to all procurement rules to reduce infractions in government spending and limit looting and even erase loot and share,” she said.

“We would also ensure that the law that allows foreign investors to repatriate 100 percent profits will be amended to a 60 percent share.”

However, the party further cited the depreciation of the cedi, high inflation rate, and the frequent hike in fuel prices, as reasons President Akufo-Addo should resign his post.
