Mathew Silas Amoah, a well-known business tycoon and NPP aspiring Parliamentary candidate in the Bolgatanga East Constituency has expressed his disappointment with the NDC Members of Parliament (MPs) in the Upper East Region of Ghana.
According to Mr. Amoah, the NDC MPs have not lived up to their promises and have not effectively represented the interests of their constituents. He criticized them for their lack of development projects and their inability to attract investments to the region, leading to a lack of economic growth and job creation.
Speaking to Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen of ApexnewsGh during a One on One exclusive interview on Sunday, August 27, 2023, the business tycoon said, “I am very very disappointed in our NDC MPs in the Upper East Region”
Citing an example with the nature of development going on in Tamale and some other regions, Mr. Amoah said, every MP in the northern region is working so hard to maintain his or her seat by way of lobbying and bringing development to their constituents but in the case of the 14 NDC MPs, they feel so relaxed and unconcerned in making to lobby for development to benefit their people.
“Our MPs feel that monopoly, whether we do or not, our people will vote for us”. He stressed
However, Mr. Amoah was impressed that dynamics had started changing because people were beginning to realize real politicians with good developmental agendas.
He believes “If there is competiveness in our MPship, the development will come because as an MP, I know that if I don’t bring development the people will vote me out. If you vote for Mathew Silas Amoah and I talk too much without doing the work, the next coming 4 years they will replace me with someone else”.
“But here, our MPs are so comfortable whether they work or not, last minute they will come and say they should vote for Amatia and they will vote for Amatia”. He said
Sharing little experience about his constituency, he said: “People tagged Bolga East as a no-go area. When I came, I heard comments like if a goat wears an NDC flag they will vote for the goat. But today, the conversation is not like that again, meaning if we keep doing what we are doing people are getting enlightened”. He expressed
“Politics is about developing people. But if you are there 14 out 15 and this region is still like this? I think they have disappointed the people of Upper East Region”
Mr. Amoah however emphasized that the people of the Bolgatanga East Constituency need a change in leadership and that he is the right candidate to bring about the necessary development and progress. He pledged to work tirelessly to improve the lives of the people and ensure that their interests are well-represented at the national level if given the opportunity.
