The Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CGD) has responded to allegations made by opposition Member of Parliament Edward Bawa regarding the inclusion of New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates on the government payroll.
In a statement addressed to the head of programmes at TV3, the CGD accused Bawa of exhibiting ignorance in how payroll operations are handled.
The CGD explained the processes involved in managing the government payroll and emphasized that it is impossible to include and pay individuals without justification.
The CGD stated that Bawa’s accusation is false, unsubstantiated, and demonstrates a lack of understanding of the payroll management process. The statement was dated December 9, 2023.
