Federal Government of Nigeria has revealed that there are individuals actively working against the efforts of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to improve the Nigerian economy.

During the Public Wealth Management Conference in Abuja, Vice President Sen. Kashim Shettima pointed fingers at smugglers and politicians as the culprits behind this sabotage. Shettima disclosed that 45 trucks carrying maize were intercepted on their way to neighboring countries, leading to a drop in maize prices. He emphasized the need for unity and support for the government to combat these forces attempting to undermine progress.

Sen. Shettima also mentioned that the administration has been saving N1 trillion monthly since taking office, despite facing economic challenges. The Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, announced that the government would audit the N23 trillion borrowed through the Ways and Means from the Central Bank of Nigeria to ensure transparency and accountability.

Efforts are being made to make the business environment more attractive to investors by reducing unnecessary taxes and increasing revenue generation from government-owned enterprises.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has been tasked with enhancing oil output to boost oil revenue in the country.

In a bid to attract investments, the Ministry of Finance Incorporated has launched a N100 billion project preparation fund to stimulate economic growth. These initiatives aim to foster collaboration among stakeholders and improve the management of public assets for the benefit of the Nigerian economy.
