Nairobi, Kenya – The African Union (AU) Commission has expressed deep concern over the violent protests that have erupted in Kenya, resulting in the loss of lives and significant property damage. Apexnewsgh reports

Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat has urged all parties to remain calm and refrain from further violence, emphasizing the importance of dialogue in addressing the underlying issues driving the protests.

In a statement, the AU Commission appealed to national stakeholders to engage in constructive discussions to resolve the crisis, stressing that such actions are in the best interest of Kenya. The Commission reaffirmed its solidarity with the government and people of Kenya, committing to support the nation during this challenging period.

The protests, which began as a response to a controversial finance bill, escalated on Tuesday as MPs passed an amended bill. Youths stormed parliament, vandalizing the interior and setting parts of the complex on fire. At least five protesters were killed by police, with many more injured.

The AU Commission’s call for calm and dialogue comes as Kenya grapples with the aftermath of the violence. The government has vowed to restore order, deploying security forces to quell the unrest. As the situation continues to unfold, the AU Commission’s appeal for peaceful resolution and constructive dialogue remains a beacon of hope for a swift and peaceful resolution to the crisis.
