The Governing Board of the National Identification Authority (NIA) has dismissed a petition by the Public Service Workers Union (PSWU) seeking the removal of Executive Secretary Prof. Ken Attafuah. Apexnewsgh reports
The petition, signed by 920 staff members, alleged unfair labor practices, but the Board has expressed full confidence in Prof. Attafuah’s leadership and integrity.
The Board criticized the PSWU for bypassing internal grievance procedures and petitioning President Akufo-Addo directly, deeming it premature and inappropriate. The National Labour Commission (NLC) also ruled that the union’s actions were “illegal and completely out of line.”
The Governing Board urged staff to maintain faith in the leadership and work together to achieve common goals, including improving conditions of service. The Board assured that it will continue to work with the Executive Secretary, Management, and unions to advance this purpose.
The statement released by the Governing Board emphasized that internal mechanisms should be utilized to address grievances before seeking external intervention. The Board’s decision reaffirms its support for Prof. Attafuah’s leadership and commitment to the NIA’s objectives.
