A shocking twist has emerged in the ongoing Paralympic scandal, as four individuals posing as relatives, sent to Norway to retrieve the body of the deceased coach of the “fake paralympic team”, have also absconded upon arrival in the European country. Apexnewsgh reports
This revelation was made by the President of the National Paralympic Committee, Samson Deen, during an interview on the Asaase Breakfast Show. The incident adds to the growing scandal surrounding the Paralympic team that traveled to Norway for the Fjordkraft Bergen City Marathon, only to have some team members elope upon arrival.
The National Paralympic Committee (NPC) has faced intense criticism for the debacle, which has seen 11 athletes fail to register for the competition, with one team member arrested attempting to enter Sweden, and the team’s coach, George Gyamfi Gyasi, passing away in a hospital after collapsing.
Samson Deen described the para-team as imposters and revealed that the “relatives” sent to retrieve the deceased coach’s body were identified and had also absconded. The NPC has reported the matter to the police, with investigations ongoing.
This scandal has raised serious concerns about the management and oversight of Ghana’s Paralympic program, with many calling for accountability and reforms to prevent such incidents in the future.
