In the troubled town of Bawku, a message of hope and cooperation resonated through the streets. Former President John Dramani Mahama, on his “Building Ghana” tour, urged residents to work hand-in-hand with security agencies to bring peace to the area. Apexnewsgh reports
Mahama’s plea came during a visit to the Paramount Chief of the Bawku Traditional Area, Zugraan Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II. He acknowledged the difficult task faced by security personnel and emphasized the need for collaboration.
The former President’s commitment to peace in Bawku was unwavering. “Peace in Bawku is going to be my priority when I become President,” he declared. He envisioned a future where public servants could work without fear, and the area’s potential could be unlocked.
Mahama’s promises extended to completing stalled projects, including the Tamde irrigation dam and rural electrification initiatives. He also assured the completion of the Bolgatanga-Bawku-Pulmakom road construction, including improvements to Bawku township roads.
The Zugraan, Naba Azoka II, shared Mahama’s desire for peace, lamenting the loss of lives and property in the conflict. He urged Mahama and his team to focus on innovative solutions, rather than divisive politics.
As Mahama’s entourage, including MPs and former government officials, departed, a sense of optimism lingered. Could this be the start of a new chapter for Bawku, one marked by cooperation and peace? Only time would tell, but one thing was certain – the people of Bawku yearned for a brighter future.
