The Member of Parliament for the Nabdam Constituency, Dr. Mark Kurt Nawaane, has criticized the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Nabdam Constituency for turning the party into a family affair. Apexnewsgh reports

According to Dr. Nawaane, the NPP’s decision to allow Boniface Gambila to hand over to his younger brother, Charles Ndanbon, is a clear indication of the party’s lack of competent representatives.

Dr. Nawaane emphasized that in politics, one should not underestimate any opponent, especially when they appear to have resources. However, he believes that the NPP’s reliance on family ties rather than merit is a grave mistake.

He pointed out that this approach is not in line with Ghana’s political tradition, citing examples of former presidents who did not hand over power to their family members.

“Former Kufour did not hand over to his brother, Mills did not handover to his brother, Mahama did not handover to his brother and this is because they understand is a political party and not a family party”

Dr. Nawaane also expressed confidence in his campaign, stating that he is ahead of his opponent, Charles Ndanbon. He accused Mr. Ndanbon who is currently hungry for the parliamentary seat of relying on the incentives released to the DCE to campaign, especially using initiatives like the SOCO project and fertilizer distribution as his own accomplishments.

The MP’s comments suggest that the NPP’s focus on family ties rather than competence may harm their chances in the upcoming elections.
