In preparation for the 2024 General Election, the Electoral Commission has taken a significant step by publishing ballot statistics to guide the printing of the Presidential and Parliamentary Election Ballots. Apexnewsgh report

This move is aimed at ensuring a smooth and well-prepared electoral process.

Taking into consideration the total number of voters on the 2024 Provisional Voters Register (PVR) along with a two percent increase, the Commission has carefully calculated the ballot statistics. While expressing a desire for a high voter turnout on Election Day, the Commission also acknowledges that not every registered voter will participate in the upcoming election.

In a statement issued on Monday, October 14, the Commission expressed confidence in the methodology used for determining the ballot statistics. They emphasized that the approach of incorporating a percentage increase has been a consistent practice since 1992 and assured the public that it will prevent any potential shortfalls or unnecessary wastage.EC publishes ballot statistics to guide printing of ballot

Furthermore, the Commission reiterated its commitment to providing ballot statistics to candidates, political parties, and printing houses before the commencement of ballot paper printing. Emphasizing that this has been a standard practice over the years, the Commission assured stakeholders that they will adhere to this procedure without deviation.

Addressing concerns in the public domain regarding the provision of ballot statistics, the Commission clarified that the printing of ballot papers had not yet begun. They confirmed that the printing of Notices of Polls for the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections would commence on Friday, 11th October 2024.

Reaffirming their dedication to transparency and fairness, the Commission emphasized that the printing of ballot papers would only proceed after providing ballot statistics to all stakeholders. They urged the public and all stakeholders to trust the Electoral Commission in delivering a credible, free, and fair election in December 2024.
