Immigration Intercepts 1115 Gallons of Cocoa Beans

Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has intercepted a truck loaded with 1115 gallons of smuggled cocoa beans at the Ave-Havi border post. Apexnewsgh reports

The truck, driven by Ibrahim Fatawu, was headed to Togo when GIS officers, acting on intelligence, waylaid it.

The cocoa beans, concealed in 1115 gallons, were found in the truck with registration number AS 2103-W. The GIS, with support from the Ghana Revenue Authority-Customs Division, has handed over the intercepted cocoa beans to officials of COCOBOD. The truck has been impounded, and the driver is assisting with further investigations.

The GIS has issued a stern warning to would-be smugglers, cautioning them to desist from such activities, which negatively impact Ghana’s economy and result in revenue loss to the government.

The Service has also commended members of the border community for their collaboration and support in protecting Ghana’s borders.
