Breaking News: Fire Guts NDC Office in Talensi, Documents Destroyed

In a shocking turn of events on Saturday, April 5, 2025, the office of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Talensi was engulfed in flames; just one day after President Mahama announced his nominees for various Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the Upper East Region. The inferno consumed the building and reduced to ashes crucial documents and registries that chronicled the party’s history and operations.

The cause of the fire remains a perplexing mystery. Within the party, speculation runs rampant as members grapple with the growing tensions that have emerged since their recent presidential Distirict Chief Executive (DCE) nominee’s announcement.

As dawn broke, the ramifications of this devastating blaze quickly became apparent. The loss of vital documents raised significant concerns regarding the integrity of the party’s records, sparking fears of catastrophic data loss.

This platform also picked, that some members expressed discontent on the party’s WhatsApp platform following the declaration of the presidential nominee. However, Constituency Communication Officer Michael Nangena, he confirmed the fire outbreak but also disputes the claim that party members were not excited about the nominee’s announcement which he posted.

“Members on the party platform were happy when I posted the announcement, and even the two who contested with president nominee have already send their congratulatory message to the nominee”

Nangena finds it puzzling that the fire outbreak occurred between 2 am and 3 am, suggesting that if the fire was indeed a protest, it wouldn’t have happened while people were still sleeping.

Meanwhile, the department of Ghana National Fire Service are still conducting their investigation to unearth the cause of the fire outbreak.
