Alibo Seeks to End NDC’s Unproductive 30-Year Hold on Talensi Constituency

Apexnewsgh

Robert Alibo, the parliamentary candidate for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Talensi Constituency, believes that healthy competition between the NPP and National Democratic Congress (NDC) is essential for the constituency’s progress. Apexnewsgh reports

According to Mr. Alibo, for 30 out of 32 years of Ghana’s democracy, the NDC has held parliamentary seats in the Talensi Constituency, with the NPP only enjoying two years of representation.

Mr. Alibo stressed that this lack of competition has led to complacency among NDC MPs, who have “relaxed and slept on their job.”

He emphasized that competition is crucial in parliamentary democracy, as it motivates MPs to work for their people and address constituency needs. Without competition, MPs may become ineffective and disengage from their communities.

He further suggested that MPs should use their break periods to engage with their communities, assemblymen, and electoral leaders to understand and address local challenges. He noted that the current MP has had limited interactions with the community, which is unacceptable.

He believes by emphasizing the value of competition and community engagement, Alibo aims to bring a fresh perspective to the Talensi Constituency and promote positive change.
