Bawku Conflict is very unfortunate, as he calls for peace and harmony–Dr. Bawumia

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has described the conflict in Bawku as a very unfortunate one.

Dr. registered his displeasure when he joined traditional leaders and the peoples of the Upper East for the commissioning of the renovated Regional House of Chiefs office complex in Bolgatanga.

“I made a call for peace and harmony and also urged the Chiefs and people in the region to continue to collaborate with Government and other key stakeholders to resolve any issues that have derailed the peace and development of the Region, especially Chieftaincy disputes”. He stressed

Dr. Bawumia admonished the traditional leaders, youth, the various factions, and other key stakeholders, to team up with the government and security agencies, to find lasting peace for the area for development to take place.

“As a son of the soil, my heart breaks about what is happening in Bawku”, Dr. Bawumia said to the traditional leaders, adding: “The conflict in Bawku is very unfortunate because we are really one people, and we must be together and not fight”. “So, I hope that the initiatives that the government has initiated through the House of Chiefs and the Otumfuo will help us bring lasting peace to the area”.

He further said, for them as a government, they understand that to prevent conflict and to enhance peace, there is a need to make sure that development in Ghana is inclusive.

“Everybody must feel a part of the development that we feel in the country”. He stated
