NPP Regional Communication Director Peter Ayinbisa has expressed skepticism about Filson Awankua’s chances of winning the Regional Championship slot. Apexnewsgh reports
According to Ayinbisa, Awankua’s popularity as “people’s chairman” on social media may not translate to success in the party’s internal elections.
Ayinbisa stated, “I am not God who gives positions, but I don’t see the chances of Filson Awankua winning the Regional Championship slot ahead of those who have shown interest in contesting the position so far.” He added that while he cannot predict the future, Awankua’s performance in previous elections does not suggest a strong likelihood of winning.
Ayinbisa’s comments come in response to Awankua’s vocal criticism of the party leadership on radio, particularly regarding the party’s performance in the 2024 general election. Ayinbisa believes that being a chairman requires more than just popularity on social media, saying, “So, the people’s chairman is on social media.”
Ayinbisa’s remarks highlight the differing opinions within the NPP about Awankua’s leadership aspirations. While Awankua has garnered support online, Ayinbisa’s comments suggest that his chances of winning the championship slot are uncertain.
