The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has launched an investigation into alleged corruption offenses at the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), involving former CEO Mustapha Abdul Hamid and three others. Apexnewsgh reports
The probe centers around the alleged embezzlement of GHC1.3 billion from the Unified Petroleum Pricing Fund (UPPF) at the NPA.
At a press briefing on February 12, 2025, the OSP announced that the investigation primarily targets Hamid, as well as three other NPA staff members: Jacob Amoah, Coordinator of the UPPF; Freda Acheampong; and Wendy Ashong Newman.
The OSP’s investigation aims to uncover suspected corruption and corruption-related offenses linked to the handling of the UPPF. This development marks a significant step in the OSP’s efforts to combat corruption and ensure accountability in Ghana’s public institutions.
Interestingly, Mustapha Hamid has responded to the OSP’s announcement, stating that he has not received any invitation for investigation and is willing to cooperate with the probe. The OSP’s investigation is ongoing, and further updates are expected in the coming days.
