The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Savannah Region has accused the opposition National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, of undermining democracy in the country.

Their accusation comes in response to Mahama’s comments about the abandonment of the Buipe Shea processing factory by the current NPP administration.

Mahama expressed disappointment over the resulting unemployment of the youth who were employed in the factory.

Mahama emphasized the need for the government to prioritize the revitalization of abandoned factories, rather than solely focusing on its 1D1F project. He called on the government to recapitalize the Buipe Shea processing factory to create employment opportunities for the local community.

Furthermore, Mahama stated that if elected as President in 2024, he would personally address the issue if the current government fails to act. He also highlighted his achievements, which include the establishment of two senior high schools, a hospital in Buipe, and the asphalting of the Buipe-Tamale, among others. As his achievements.

In response to Mr. Mahama’s comments, the Savannah Regional arm of the NPP released a statement signed by Secretary Mohammed Issah. The NPP stated that Mr. John Mahama and the NDC do not provide a credible alternative to their party.

They accused Mahama and the NDC of relying on emotions, manipulation, and empty promises without any tangible results, other than empty talk about secured funding. The NPP also criticized Mahama for using a speech at the Buipe Traditional Area as a campaign platform, accusing him of spreading false information and distorting the developments in the area. The NPP clarified that the Mpaha Community Senior High School was 40% complete in 2017 and was fully completed in 2018, admitting its first students in the same year.

According to them, two big dormitories have been constructed for the school to accommodate boarding students. Even though Mpaha SHS and the other E-Blocks were done by the late former President Atta Mills not John Mahama’s.

The Savannah Regional NPP has highlighted the Buipe accident and emergency centre as one of the six medical facilities constructed with the assistance of an 80-million-euro facility from Raiffeisen Bank of Austria. Construction on the hospital began in 2018 and was carried out by Vamed Engineering GmbH of Austria. The other medical installations include hospitals in Somanya, Sawla, Bamboi, Tolon, and Ketu North.

Additionally, concerning the Ntereso water plant, it was constructed without any distribution lines. Instead, standpipes were installed at Fufulso-Damongo Junction 4, Ntereso 2, and Nyawuripe 1. Prior to the NDC leaving office in 2017, the water plant had been destroyed by flood, leading to the complete destruction of the floating pump. The facility also had outstanding electricity bills of over 1 million Ghana cedis owed to NEDCO.

It continued that the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia-led government installed “hybrid pumps, constructed solar power plant for the facility, constructed over 10 km of transmition lines to Yapei, constructed 14 km distribution lines and provided 10 standpipes within Yapei Township. High level Concrate tank with a capacity 450 cubic Liters of storage was added. This feat cannot be attributed to a man whose only legacy for his own people continue to be “securing funding” like John Dramani Mahama. They stressed
