RISE-Ghana, a local NGO working to improve human rights and ensure sustainable development in Ghana has called for the ban of Miss Kidi Ghana to safeguard children across and promote their best interests.

Apexnewsgh.com sighted the demand on RISE-Ghana official Facebook Page posted on Monday, June 21, 2021

However, even though Multimedia Joyprime has issued an apology following their misconduct during the last episode of Miss KIDI Ghana which showed contestants wearing a bikini, RISE-Ghana is of the view that the apology isn’t enough tool to avoid such an incident from repeating itself in the future. They condemned the production of such content which to them, has the tendency of exposing children to all forms of abuse. They are demanding a ban on the said programme.

Below is the full statement:
“Our attention was drawn to disturbing content emanating from #MultiMedia Joyprime where kids were paraded in Bikini which is constitute a gross violation of children’s rights and the moral and legal obligation on state and non-state actors to promote the best interest of the child in all matters involving children. Having cited also their apology, we wish to unequivocally condemn the production of such content which has the tendency of exposing children to all forms of abuse. We call on the Ministry of Gender and Child Protection to call for total suspend the programme. Unqualified apology not enough”.
