The Member of Parliament for Zebilla, Cletus Avoka, has shed light on the challenges faced by lawmakers due to incessant financial demands placed on them by the public and constituents. In an interview with Starr FM monitored by Apexnewsgh, Mr. Avoka attributed the perceived corruption in the Legislature to these unreasonable expectations. The Zebilla MP revealed that the constant requests for financial assistance, ranging from healthcare expenses to wedding contributions and school fees, make it nearly impossible for MPs to avoid engaging in corrupt activities. He emphasized that many MPs end up using their positions for personal business ventures rather than focusing on their legislative duties. The MP stressed the need for understanding from the media and the public, highlighting the financial pressures MPs face on a daily basis. Avoka explained how MPs often lose elections or primaries not because of their performance but because they are not able to fulfill the financial demands of their constituents. When questioned about whether this situation validates the belief that all MPs are corrupt, Avoka agreed, stating that to maintain their seats, MPs often have to seek additional resources through external activities. He acknowledged that in order to meet the financial expectations of their constituents, MPs may engage in activities outside their legislative duties to generate income. Avoka’s revelations underscore the intricate relationship between financial pressures and corruption within the Parliament, shedding light on the challenges faced by lawmakers in balancing their roles as public servants and their personal financial obligations. So that, if we get a team in the first division in the premier league of Ghana they can all play or if there is African cup of nation like Tamale was one of the centers, Bolga can also be a center”. Hon. Avoka acknowledged the Upper East stadium as a challenge to the Ministry in charge of sport, as he promised, that they will be making a case with the Ministry when they returned back to Parliament. “Is a challenge to the Ministry of Youth and Sports to as a matter of urgency, we need a sports stadium for the people of Upper East Region and we already had one but it needs development and am using this forum to inform them that there is a lot of sporting potentials in the region and not only football but other disciplines. So, they should develop the infrastructure and we have 15 districts and none of them have a very good sports stadium and we pray that when we go back, we will make a case with the Ministry of Youth and Sports” Hon. Upper East NDC leadership are late commas, reasons why they can’t get development for the region
If you are wondering why the debate about the NDC in the Upper East Region not bringing development still exists in the minds of some residents of the region, don’t look any further. Apexnewsgh.com report Mr. Yen Nyeya has revealed, that those seen as NDC leadership in the Upper East Region are late commas in the party, they are not seen as parts and parcels of the party. The reason they are not given attention by the party when it comes to sharing the national cake for the region’s development. Mr. Nyeya made the pronouncement in an exclusive interview with Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen of Apexnewsgh.com on Friday, February 3, 2023. Giving a brief history of what happened in the past, he said Upper West is well recognized by the NDC because when former President Jerry J. Rawlings needed an alternative, he found Upper West as a source to recruit and counterpart people in the Upper East Region and that is why we have the Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin’s, the present Speaker, you had the late Sali and others who were brought into the regime and in the process of development, any little development is sent there. So, the Upper Easterners who later joined the PNDC or the NDC were late commas and you can see, that they don’t have that strength or control. Supposing if I and Nicholas Atampugre and Co had stayed, we may have been able to extract resources. The Cletus Avoka and Mahama Ayariga, they came later. So, because they were late commas, they were not able to gain that access because is about those whose voices are heard. But unfortunately, they are not seen as part of the various government that has ruled in the NDC and NPP, the leadership are not seen as part and parcel of those parties, they are not seen as owners. Hon. Asaga and co were Ministers but they were seen as late commas. Mr. Nyeya believes the people he describes as late commas in the NDC didn’t have much influence to extract development for the region. “So, they didn’t have that much influence and even in terms of a new colonial development, they could not access the little resources that were there to the region and that is why up to now, we don’t have an Airport”. He told Apexnewsgh.com

Avoka’s pronouncement came after the party leadership decided to change Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu with Cassiel Ato Forson, MP for Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam and Muntaka Mubarak, the minority Whip. Meanwhile, Speaking on Citi TV monitored by Apexnewsgh.com, Hon. Avoka did not hide his impression on the decision taken by the party leadership, “this is not the time to make nobody a somebody, this is not the time to make nobody a somebody, this is the time to galvanize all of us to fight the NPP so that we can win elections not to make heroes out of nonentities, this is not the time,”. Aside, Hon. Avoka, some other well-meaning party members of the NDC have raised issues about the sudden changes
