Upper East Regional Minister Urges Peace After Builsa South Incident at DCE’s Residence

In a recent incident that has sent shockwaves through the Upper East Region, tensions escalated in the Builsa South Constituency following an unsettling act of vandalism. Apexnewsgh reports The residence of Daniel Kwame Gariba, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate and District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Builsa South Assembly, was targeted by looters who ransacked the home, leaving it in disarray and making off with valuable items, including furniture and clothing. In response to this alarming event, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, the Upper East Regional Minister, urgently called on the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to intervene and help restore calm among their supporters. During a media briefing on Monday, Dr. Bin Salih highlighted the critical need for peace in the region, especially considering its fraught history of electoral tensions. He implored the NDC leaders to act swiftly to prevent any further escalation of violence, emphasizing his hope that this incident would remain an isolated occurrence. Dr. Bin Salih has been a pivotal figure in promoting development and social cohesion in the region. His initiatives, including the Gulf of Guinea Northern Regions Social Cohesion project, have resulted in the implementation of 530 infrastructure sub-projects across six regions, aiming to foster unity and progress. However, the chaos in Builsa South marked a stark contrast to his vision for a peaceful community. The vandalism was reportedly tied to the revelry surrounding the recent declaration of Dr. Clement Apaak as the Member of Parliament-elect. Gariba, reflecting on the incident, attributed the attack to “hooligans” who chose to exploit the celebratory atmosphere for their own malicious purposes. “It was some hooligans who took advantage of the celebration to do their own thing,” he explained, distancing the NDC from any sanction of the violent act. Police forces quickly responded to the situation, working diligently to recover stolen items from nearby homes and interviewing those found in possession of the looted goods. Gariba expressed his belief that the actions of these individuals were fueled more by overzealous celebration and a lingering resentment towards his NPP candidacy rather than any organized attempt by the opposition. As the dust settles on this distressing incident, the call for unity and the commitment to peaceful coexistence in the Upper East Region remain as crucial as ever. The actions of the NDC leadership in the coming days may prove pivotal in ensuring that peace prevails and that the community can move forward together. Source: Apexnewsgh.com

Fumbisi- Uwasi Road: I won’t be surprised if by now termination processes have been activated—Builsa South DCE

The Builsa South District Chief Executive (DCE), Daniel Kwame Gariba, has confirmed that the Fumbisi- Uwasi road is in a very bad state currently than it was before the contract was given to a contractor in 2018. The DCE made the revelation while Speaking on Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen Apexnews Ghana’s flagship developmental programme dubbed “SPEAKOUT UPPER EAST” on Tuesday, October 4, 2022. Whiles responding to the issues of roads in his District, The DCE said he won’t be surprised if by now termination processes have been activated. He gave a little background about the road, according to him, somewhere in 2018 the road was awarded for some work to be done on it. “The contractor came on site, did the culvert pipe, he has done some of the bridges and even opens up the road. Somewhere in 2020, they run out of funds and could not continue with the work”. He said: “is not a situation to say that authorities are sitting on it. I am aware that the Feeder Roads Engineer has written a number of warning letters to this contractor asking him to come to the site or risk termination, I am also sure that is a result of the pressure I give to the engineer that made him write these number of letters to the contractor”. “But you see, we are authorities in the region and district overseeing development projects, we don’t execute these contracts ourselves, we execute them through contractors. If a contractor is lagging on his work or delaying the work and authorities are sitting and not saying anything about it, that is where they can say we are not bothered about it. But, I know that from my office here, a number of follow-ups have been done, and the regional engineer has done a number of follow up”. He stressed But am sure if you asked the contractor also, he would tell you he is having some challenges. So, whether he is holding a certain position or not is immaterial here, he is a Ghanaian and also qualified to do the work. I won’t be surprised if by now termination processes have been activated. That is where is heading and am sure he is not going to sit down and say because he is occupying a particular position we will not terminate the contract if the need arises. I remember when we came into office in 2017, there was a contractor who was playing that kind of delay tactics on the Fumbisi- Kanjanga road, we followed it up and terminated it and we have been following them to re-award it to a more serious contractor who will come and do it for us. So, I believe that the Regional Feeder Road Engineer is up to the task and he will follow it up to see if it will be terminated and will be terminated and given to somebody who will come and do a better job for us. “It is true that when you used that side of the road, is now in a very bad state than it was because we expected that the culvert when they were done, would be graveled for vehicles to use the bridges. I used it last week and I was lamenting as you are lamenting”. “So, we will continue to do the follow-up and nobody should take it that he needs the road more than another person. I am the biggest beneficiary when it is constructed. So, I would continue to follow up and see that it is done and done well”. JUST IN: NDC Awarded Chuchuluga –Sandema road without any funding source—Daniel Kwame Gariba

The Builsa South District Chief Executive (DCE), Daniel Kwame Gariba, has revealed that the road awarded by John Dramani Mahama from Chuchuluga to Wuesi, Weaga- Fumbisi, and Chuchuluga- Sandema was awarded without any funding source. Apexnewsgh.com report Mr. Gariba said, during the heat of the campaign in 2016, “We saw some busy works but shortly after the election everything went quiet. “You remember in 2016 in the heat of the election somewhere in September, then President John Mahama cut sod for the road from Chuchuluga to Wuesi. We saw some busy work but shortly after the election everything went quiet”. He narrates He further explained: “We didn’t see any further action. I remember myself the then Bulsa North DCE Mr. David Afoko we made frantic efforts and went to the road Minister a number of times, went to the Regional Highway Engineer talking about it. And we then realized, that road was awarded alright but, it was a certain portion of the road that was awarded and even that award was not for them to asphalt it but is for graveling, graveling the road from Chuchuluga up to Wesi”. He said, NDC awarded the road, hoping it will give them some votes. “But we realized that it was a particular portion from Chuchuluga to Sandema. Before that, they jumped from Weaga to Fumbisi, and all that was for graveling and not even for bitumen. The saddest part of it was that the project did not have a funding source, and documentation on that road project was not completed. But you know, when you want to have early ejaculation…… they rushed things, awarded the road, hoping that will give them some votes to win the 2016 elections and that didn’t work out and reality has done on all of us after the 2016 general elections when power change hands we then began to see the truth on the ground. This project did not have a funding source. So, we made a follow up to the road Minister, they also took their time to get a funding source and it was later repackaged from graveling to bitumen” Mr. Gariba told Apexnewsgh.com Source: Apexnewsgh.com|Builsa South|Ghana For publication please kindly contact us on 0256336062 or Email: apexnewsgh@gmail.com

JUST IN: Fumbisi Rice Factory not under One District One Factory—Regional Minister

The Upper East Regional Minister Stephen Yakubu has revealed, that the party removed the Fumbisi Rice Factory from the President’s itinerary because it wasn’t part of government One District One Factory. Apexnewsgh.com report Mr. Yakubu made the revelation during an exclusive interview with Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen of Apexnewsgh.com on Sunday, August 7, 2022. A few days before President Akufo-Addo’s arrival in the region, a lot of interviews were granted to some members of the governing New Patriotic (NPP) on various local radio stations, print and online media in the region to ascertain plans and where the president will be going and the role he will be performing at the programme venue. Then, in their individual responses, Fumbisi Rice Factory, Commissioning of Tono expansion water project, and Visit Bolga East Kantaga Agenda 111 were all mentioned by party executives who were creating awareness ahead of the President’s coming. In fact, at one of the radio stations, the issue of the Fumbisi Rice factory became a tough debate between the NPP representative and the Opposition NDC representative. The NDC was of the view that the Fumbisi Rice Factory has nothing to do with the 1D1F policy initiative, whiles the NPP representative claimed strongly that the Rice project is part of 1D1F. However, barely a day after the President’s Visit to the region, the Fumbisi Rice Factory was removed from the original itinerary plan for the president tour. That has raised some kind of questions, especially from members of the opposition NDC who are still asking questions upon questions about why the President could not visit the Fumbisi Rice Factory as planned. Meanwhile, when Apexnewsgh.com engaged the Regional Minister for some clarification on the numerous questions asked, he said “Initially we thought that it was part of the One District One Factory though. I think they are working on it, they are not fully part of the 1D1F. Therefore, we didn’t want to go and commission a private person’s factory”. Reg. Minister told Apexnewsgh.com He confirmed, “The factory came up because President went there in 2018, went to the Fumbisi area and a lot of people there and saw the rice farm and that actually brought a lot of investors there and therefore, is as a result of that this has come up”. Meanwhile, when Apexnewsgh.com contacted the Builsa South District Chief Executive (DCE) Daniel Kwame Gariba, he claimed the owner of the factory was the one who requested that the President should come for the Rice Factory commissioning.
