Tempane District in the Upper East Region has witnessed one of its horrible windstorm attacks even as the region is about to witness the rainy season. Information gathered by Apexnewsgh.com, especially from the District Chief Executive Issaka Anibida and the Tempane district NADMO Director Assana Williams Adams says communities in the entire Tempane district were affected by the heavy windstorm. The DCE told this platform: “We have about nine (9) schools ripped off, a health center and its accommodation for health workers. As for private houses, is too many, and as a result, we lost two (2) people and three (3) others with some level of injuries. For those who died, a tree failed on one and the other, a block house collapsed on him. So that is the situation” Meanwhile, the Tempane District Director of NADMO Asaana Williams Adams expressed that the damages caused were huge. According to him, there were no trees in the district to protect houses. “Climate change is really real. In our area here, we are trying to conclude that is because we don’t have trees which is why the wind storm was able to destroy things. This is due to the limited trees around us. No protection and we have been including it in our sensitization for people to plant trees. He said Asking about what NADMO is doing to assist those affected. The District Director said: We are unprepared, we have not gotten anything for emergency. Further added: “We are yet to put up a report to see what will happen. In the past years, we used to have something called emergency but is like now, we don’t have it. For those who are not closer to schools and churches, they are staying with their relatives”. Tempane DCE presents 2 motorking ambulances to District Health Director for improved health delivery
The Tempane District Assembly through Chief Executive Issaka Anabida has presented two motorking ambulances to the district health directorate for the improvement of health service delivery, especially in some distance communities. Presenting the ambulances to the district health director, the DCE said: “We are here present two motorking ambulances to the Tempane District Health Directorate, already in the district, the government of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has provided one main ambulance for the health services but it was inadequate because most of our communities are in the hinterlands. So, it is not possible for one ambulance to move to all the areas”. According to him, the government under the One million dollar project per constituency provided these two ambulances through the Northern Development Authority (NDA) for each assembly to hand it over to the health directorate, to help the running of the health services in the district. “What I would also want to add on behalf of the assembly is that, am entreating the health director to make sure they put it into good use. Let’s all put our heads together in managing the ambulance, not the director alone. Because we are all in a district and we will see how it is used. “If you see the driver using it in a way that is not the best, we shouldn’t wait till the health director, he may not see because we are the people in the community. So, anything that will not be in the interest of this and any other assets of the assembly, let’s all be concerned so that at the end of the day, our people will benefit from the service’s initiative. The DCEs advised Meanwhile, the Tempane District Health Director Eugene Osei Yeboah expressed gratitude to the government for their kind gesture. He was confident ambulance will benefit the people of the district, especially the pregnant women. “Sometimes, transporting pregnant women during emergencies to the nearest health facilities is very difficult. These ambulances will be able to mitigate some of the current challenges of transporting our clients to the health facility. We will also promise to put it to good use to be sure that the servicing is done periodically so that at least it can last long enough for us. We hope that it will be a good benefit to our community members” He said Source: Apexnewsgh.com/GhanaFor publication please kindly contact us on 0256336062 or Email apexnewsgh@gmail.com

E-levy is a none starter, I will not support it today, I won’t support it tomorrow– Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba
Madam Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba, Member of Parliament (MP) for Tempane Constituency in Upper East Region who doubles as a member of the communication committee in Parliament has assured her constituents to be rest assured that she will never support the controversial E-Levy today nor tomorrow. Speaking to Apexnewsgh.com in an exclusive interview, the Tempane legislator lamented that most of the things she expected the budget to capture which she thinks will reduce the plight of her constituents and region at large weren’t captured in the 2022 budget read by the Finance Minister. “Upper East is one of the deprived regions in the country and what I was expecting to see from the budget is something that will reduce the plight of the people of Upper East Region. I want to see a very robust programme for electricity, water, road network, youth employment, which I didn’t see in the budget”. She said the YouStart programme is a very scanty one because it did not specify what is going to do for the Upper East Region for the youth to get employment. For instance, I want to see that in the budget, that there provision made for Dam, for those who are not in the formal sector, those who want to go into Agric, or for those already in Agric to enhance their productivity. “I want to see the Minister of Finance assuring us that come next year or next coming season, there will be enough fertilizer for those who are into farming. I want to see TVET is very important today in our sectors. For instance in my constituency, if we have TVET that can actually train the youth carpentry, meson, tiling, mechanic so that when they come out and the government cannot employ them, they themselves can find a way of making a living out of it. So, I want to see something that is specific, if the budget is approved”. As for the E-Levy, the Tempane MP described it as a none starter. “E-Levy is none starter, we don’t even want to talk about it, because i don’t want to worsen the plight of our people. My people are already poor. Somebody is asking for Ghc 100.00 and you are telling me if I send the person Ghc 100.00 you are going to take Ghc 1.70 from that money again. So, at the end of the day, what is the person going to get? I will not support E-Levy today, I won’t support it tomorrow”.
