112 nurses in Upper East Region were infected with coronavirus from the first reported case of COVID-19 in Ghana to February 6, 2021, according to the Upper East Regional Branch of Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Council (GRNMA). 89-9
According to the Upper East Regional Chairman of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Council (GRNMA) Lambon Jafouk, 9 nurses were reported, followed by 89 and the figure of the infected nurses in the Upper East Region with the deadly coronavirus stands at 14 per the collation as at 6th February 2021.
“Initially it was frightening but now, I can say the numbers am getting shows that people are waking up”.
Mr. Lambon in an interview with Apexnewsgh.com said out of the 89 infected nurses, there has been some improvement and recoveries which had reduced the number of infected nurses to 14 currently.
Mr. Lambon further indicated that the figure is for the association purposes and might vary from the data at the Regional Health Directorate and National office are having because they as an association are keenly monitoring their colleagues closely from all their local executive across the region.
However, he is confident that the remaining infected nurses in the region will recover in a short period because their condition isn’t that severe. Some of them according to him, were receiving their treatment at the isolation center and some are also in some different locations.
